Asher

I can't believe that when I told Sofia about my relationship with Amelia, she said that we were made for each other.

I expected her to be angry since I got too close to Amelia when she warned me not to. She was delighted, and even Luke, who is still young, liked the idea of us being together.

We're supposed to meet again today. I finished all of my work earlier, as I always do, just to meet her. My phone started ringing and my eyes lit up.

The first thing I heard when I answered the call was her voice.

"Hi, Asher," she said, and I returned the greeting. "I'll be there in five minutes." She stated, her voice quiet.

"Alright, I'll wait for you." I said before she hung up the phone.

Exactly four minutes later, she was standing right in front of me. We both started smiling as we stared at each other. "You look stunning as always." I said, and she chuckled.

"You're as handsome as ever." She looked me up and down, confused. "I haven't seen you in a suit for quite some time. What is the occasion?" She was curious.

"Nothing special. I just didn't have time to change." I lied. I really can't tell her the real reason yet. I accidentally touched my pocket to make sure it was still there.

I looked from behind her as I brushed a hair off her cheeks and noticed something.

"You know your mother and sister have been following you, right?" I asked. She laughed nervously, then whispered, "Just act like you didn't see them." I smiled at her words.

We walked into the empty restaurant and took a seat. "You should be thankful." She spoke. "For what?" I asked.

"That they actually let me come here by myself with you." She answered. They won't let us meet alone at night, and they won't even let me drive her. Usually, we meet each other after work.

"You're right, I should go thank them." I stood up and made my way to the door. She immediately stood up and shouted, "Wait! Don't take it seriously. I was only joking."

"Fine, whatever you say." I smirked, satisfied. Her eyes are breathtaking in every circumstance. Even her surprised reaction never fails to amuse me.

She released a sigh of relief. "Don't worry. Nothing will go wrong." I reassured her. "I know." She whispered as she placed her palm on top of mine, and I blushed with wide eyes.

Her touch does weird things to me that I don't understand. I'm nervous, and I get butterflies whenever she's near me.

"Sir. Sir..." The waiter interrupted my thoughts. When I turned to look at her, she gave me a worried look.

"May I take your order, please?" The waiter asked, then I looked over the menu before placing my order.

It's time. We were done eating and talking. It was time to face reality. My nervousness increased, and I couldn't help but check my pocket once again.

Just take a deep breath—I said deep breath, not loud breath, you idiot. And, yes, she did notice my attempt to relax. "Asher, are you okay? You seem ill all of a sudden." She asked, her eyes full of worry.

Maybe this is the start of something more than I imagined. Maybe we will end up being something bigger, or, should I say, eventually?

I took a deep breath this time, stood up with my anxious legs, and walked toward her. I made sure that I was right in front of her.

I've been keeping this hidden and waiting for the right time for four months, so whatever her answer is, I'm going to accept it.
