Asher

I'm taking Luke to the pediatrician today. Sofia is supposed to do this, yet here I am. She normally asks me to accompany them, and I always refuse, but this time she insisted, and when I said yes, she left me alone with Luke. Once again, I just let her be because she used the excuse that she would be handling my work.

This awkward silence in the car is worrying me. It's not Luke-like behavior. He's usually very energetic since he's going to get candies and sweets after his treatment, but now he's very quiet. I really don't know why.

"Is everything alright with you, Luke?" He eventually looked at me, and his answer was a simple nod.

"Are you scared of going to the doctor?" He shook his head.

"After all, you are very strong." I smiled, but he stayed sad. "Don't worry, nothing will happen; I'll be by your side." Looking in the rearview mirror, I reassured him.

He finally said, "I'm not afraid of the doctor." He was looking at me once more. "Then why are you depressed?" I asked.

He hesitated for a second before responding, "I really wanted to study with my teacher." He appeared even more depressed. I'm surprised; is this why he's been sad all along?

Believe me, Luke, we have mutual feelings because I'm also disappointed since I won't see her again, but it's a good thing for her to have a day off; she needs a break.

"Don't worry, Luke. You'll see her tomorrow." After a short pause, I had a thought: "How about you give her something?" His mood changed. "Thank you, uncle; you're a genius!" He flashed a smile. I laughed "Look! We arrived."

We began walking inside. I was holding his hand so he couldn't run away because he seemed to be really happy. We're trying to think of something to get Amelia. I swung the door open, and a figure appeared in my vision.

"Amelia?" I voiced my confusion. Luke yelled, "Teacher!" "Asher?" She also appeared confused and shocked.

I looked beside her and saw him standing there. He's Luke's doctor. I've never seen his face because Sofia always comes here. I don't even know who he is. So, what is she doing with a doctor?

"May I ask what you're doing here?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.

"Wait, hold on." The doctor pointed at me and asked, "Who is this man? And how long have you known him?" He was looking at her.

"He's my boss's brother." He kept staring at me. "And, Asher, this is Cassian, my childhood friend." Cassian? Please don't tell me this is the guy Grace used to tease Amelia about.

My anger increased. If he was her childhood friend, it means he knows her better than I do, then if he knows her better than I do, it means he has a better chance of being with her than I do.

I whispered softly as I glanced at Luke, "Is this the same doctor Mommy brings you to?" He nodded. Talk about luck.

"I think I should leave right now." She smiled. "Are you two dating?" I asked, my gaze focused on her. "Oh, we're way beyond that; consider us married." He smirked, and my blood boiled.

I really want to beat this man. But I can't; I have to keep cool. "Seriously, Cassian; what are you even saying?" She seems to be angrier than I am.

"What? I didn't say anything wrong." He's making me even angrier. I motioned Luke to get inside and sit quietly, which he did. "Everything you're saying is wrong. I told you I wasn't going to answer you just yet, and look at what you're saying; there's nothing between us, Cassian; wake up. It was nothing more than an arranged marriage. Yes, I considered marrying you, but after some thought, I chose not to. I want to marry for love." His eyes widened as he heard what she said.

I was just standing there, saying nothing until they were finished. "You don't love me anymore, do you?" He questioned. "No, not anymore." She replied.

"I'm sorry, Amelia. I pressured you the entire time after promising I'd wait for your answer." He stated.

It was obvious in her eyes that we were both shocked by his words. I really didn't want to hear this serious conversation, but I had no choice. "Are we still friends?" She smiled. He nodded, and she began to make her way out. "Wait, Amelia!" I called.

"I'm really sorry for everything. I didn't want to hear such a personal conversation." I hope she isn't embarrassed by my presence.

"No, it's fine; I actually wanted you to know the truth." She stated. I'm not sure what she meant. "Oh, right. I probably interrupted your appointment; you can go now. Luke is waiting for you." I looked around for Luke, and he was walking toward us.

"I'm actually going to see a different doctor. Can I give you a ride home? It's actually on the way." I requested.

"Thank you for the offer, but I have some things to do before I go home." She smiled once again.

Luke is currently standing behind me; he is shy around her. She walked behind me and knelt down to Luke's height, and said, "Hey, Luke, I hope you get better."

She stood up, waved goodbye, and walked away. I took Luke in my arms and said, "I'm sorry, Luke; I kept you waiting for a long time." He nodded, and we walked outside.

What can I say about today? It was shocking for all of us, except for Luke, who seems to be fine. The doctor assured me that he is in good health and that there is nothing to be worried about. I honestly hope that everything is going well for her too.
