Chapter 4 ∣  Of Course, There's a Rebellion

-Keegan

Rubbing my temples, it had been a short-lived trip to Earth. In my stupidity to follow the vampire, I'd become more agitated, the games I usually play with females did not necessarily work with her. She appeared to have a gift like how sex demons faze between Earth and Hell, but she didn't leave that plane of existence.

It reminded me of a certain pureblood vampire that hid from my eyes, appearing only when he wanted to take away my succubus. Do they share the same gift?

"We need more security."

Oh...their voices sound like nails on a chalkboard.

Yes, I was sitting on the throne my father once had, now it was my turn to lead.

"Why would we need more security?" I asked, not having been paying as much attention as I should have been, my mind wandering to the alluring vampire who killed three werewolves on her own...and she wasn't even a pureblood.

The incubus guard standing before me growled in his own irritation. Oh look, we're both irritated, let us call it a day.

"There is a rebellion, your highness," he didn't like to repeat himself, but he did a very good job of protecting this palace that sat on a large mass of land in the center of a lava lake. The only way to get here was across the old bridge...well and apparently an underground tunnel that had sealed off.

"Let me guess," I sighed, standing to my feet, my ass numbs from sitting, "These such demons don't like the way I rule and will probably never like the way anyone rules. So, they want anarchy and we all know where that leads..." My father's dead body was something I'd never forget, watching him die amongst the demons overthrowing him.

Think of it as brutal impeaching.

The head guard nodded, "They have assassins."

"Oh joy!" I exclaimed sarcastically. A lovely little piece of work succubi and incubi assassins were. They were born with an innate ability to control electrical currents, and if trained properly, they were very deadly. Though, my father was never killed by any of them, so they can't be all that intimidating.

They probably wanted some self-righteous, for the people, a common demon to lead them. My father may have been a tyrant, but at least he kept lesser demons from traveling to Earth for their own pleasure. He kept everything in order, just allowing beings such as ourselves to take energy and souls when we needed it.

Maybe they want a change of scenery? Want to wreak a little havoc on Earth?

Even I'm not that stupid.

"If you would just take a wife, maybe they would all back off," Tyco mumbled from the right side of the chair, his eyes casting to the floor.

Again...I don't need a woman to prove I can rule. They make you...soft...

I prefer the company of my slaves and lovers, Natasha was clingy, but at least I didn't have to make a lasting commitment with her.

"Tyco," I snapped, my adviser, lifting his eyes and staring directly at me, "And where is your mate?"

"I don't have one, your highness...I haven't found her," his voice was hurt, but I wanted to strike a deal with him.

I smirked, "Well then, the day you find your mate, is the day I choose my wife. How does that sound?"

I knew that could be forever, as sometimes you just never found your mate.

"There is one more thing," the guard brought my attention away from my adviser, "Soul Reapers plan to meet with you within the coming month."

Those soul stealers...they didn't even put them to good use, just ferried evil beings' souls who died on Earth or demons in the Dominion Plane, to a separate circle of Hell. They didn't like our kind very much, taking premature souls before they were ready to die on their own, or what fate had intended for them.

"Within the coming month? That's specific," I nodded my head to the head guard and stated, "How about you pinpoint a better date for me? Yea?"

It had been hours since I'd finally heard everyone's woes and stories, ending with a potential rebellion, an assassin ready to kill me...maybe...and Soul Reapers. Lovely, there goes the afternoon.

I was ready for some mischief, wanting to find out more about this vampire. Her crystal blue eyes were so piercing, staring through me as though she had seen me. Her strength, pulling away from my persuasion, the ability to sway her cut off the moment she dissolved away.

"Tyco."

"Yes, sir?" He asked while I motioned for the guards to be dismissed.

"I'm retiring for the evening," I replied, walking down the steps to the throne, "I don't want to be disturbed."

Tyco nodded and replied, "Of course, I'll see to it that you're left alone. What about Natasha?"

"I don't think she'll be seeking me out anytime soon," I smirked, remembering the look on her face when I left.

Walking down through the halls, I eventually came to my bedroom, opening and closing the large door behind me. Thankfully, Natasha had listened to me and she was nowhere to be found. Maybe she was finally learning a little self-respect.

Breathing out slowly, I remember every detail of the mansion that I had seen the vampire walk to, her bloodied arm cradled to her chest, her body cringing in pain. She couldn't use her ability to hide in the shadows with that silver the werewolves so cleverly used.

Genius, they are rather an interesting breed.

Appearing in front of the mansion, it was daylight, no vampires in sight. They would be sleeping, the perfect time for me to find some entertainment.

Feeling thoughts, sorting through the sleeping vampires within this coven, I could trace their dreams. I felt the pull to the vampire I had already seen, locking onto a single thought, the name she had spoken in the night.

Landon.

In the next moment, I found myself in a bedroom, standing near a far corner as my eyes laid on the vampire. My nostrils flared when I saw what was lying next to her, their bodies hardly touching. The pureblood vampire's white hair was tousled, deep in sleep, his bare chest rising and falling slowly.

Trying to decipher what her name was, I tapped into his dreams, as they obviously were mates, he would more than likely be dreaming about her.

Her name's...Cleo?

Images of a vampire with short white hair, another pureblood with amber eyes flashed through his mind. It wasn't the vampire lying next to him, her sleep somewhat restless, her brows furrowing, turning over from her back and onto her side.

Walking around the room, my presence wasn't even corporeal, fazed between worlds. Standing next to her side of the bed, I noticed her arm was healed, but her emotions were still damaged, wrecking her mind and causing her so much inner turmoil.

Let's see how susceptible you are.

First, I started off with projecting myself, my hands softly touching the cheek. Ghosting my fingertips down her neck, over her exposed shoulder, the tan tank top she was wearing allowing showing her pale skin. Her heart skipped a beat, my hands smoothing over and across her abdomen, tracing back up the center of her chest.

Her breathing quickened, my astral projections invading her unpleasant dreams and replaced by my own images. She lay beneath me within her mind, running my hands up and down her body, slowly going lower to caress her outer thighs.

I wasn't going to take her energy, knowing that I'd risk exposure if her beloved woke. This was entertaining enough.

She quaked under my touch; the carnal desires brought out within her dream elicited her own actions toward me. Her hands lifted to my bare pecs, resting her palms against them. No one has ever interacted with a projection before.

She moaned deeply in her dream, a soft moan escaping her lips where her body lay asleep when I brought my lips against her neck. Kissing down her neck, feeling her skin heat, her heart pounding hard in her chest. My right thumb gripped her inner thigh, breathing in sharply, she arched her back away from the sheets.

In her sleep, her hand dipped down between her thighs, her breathing uneven as I pulled back and away, seeing exactly what I could do to her.

I thought mate bonds were stronger than that...at the least, she should have had some resilience.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who smelled her arousal and her quiet moans woke the sleeping pureblood beside of her. I pulled away completely from her thoughts, moving away and to the edge of the room as I watched Landon sit up.

He glanced over at his beloved and asked, "Adrasteia?"

What a beautiful name. It's been such a pleasure to arouse you, vampire.

He shook her shoulder and she gasped, her eyes fluttering open. Gathering her bearings, she looked down at herself and quickly pulled her hand away, her eyes meeting Landon's as she stuttered, "I-I...I-shit!"

Awe, someone's frustrated. Well, at least you have him to help you out with that.

"What the hell?" Landon questioned her, her heart still beating frantically.

"I-I don't know...I just...I don't know," she shook her head, trying to clear her mind of the fog that had once settled at the base of her skull. Adrasteia's crystal blue eyes investigated Landon's teal ones, a pleading look on her face.

Well...I'm not sticking arou-

"Landon, please...I don't know what happened, but please...I need you," she was desperate, her voice trailing off as she touched his arm, his eyes scanning her face.

He waited a moment, breathing in deeply and then sighing, "You know we can't have sex. I'll lose control and bite you."

"And that would be a bad thing..." she mumbled, her eyes filling with tears, throwing the covers off and onto him.

Landon growled out, "Yes, it would. You know that!"

The actual fuck...they're...not mates? Or, he won't bond with her? He won't have sex with her. What the hell is she to him then?

I glared at the pureblood. Seriously, man, that's just messed up...

She whirled around and snarled at him, "I want my own room. I'm done playing and living like this!"

He was in front of her before either of us could blink, her back slamming against the wall. She cried out in pain, I guess that liquid silver still lingering in her system and dropping her inhuman strength to that of a mortal.

"The coven will get suspicious," his voice was low and near her ear.

"Landon...I can't keep doing this. It's not fair and it's killing me!" She snapped back and when she did, he pinned both of her wrists to the wall on either side of her head.

They stood in silence, just the quiet breathing between them was heard. Landon stated, "Fine."

I actually felt sorry for her.

Watching as he pulled away from her, releasing his hold as she slid down against the wall, letting out a small sob and tears trailing from the corners of her eyes. Landon walked into the bathroom, the sound of it slamming behind him made her jump.

Adrasteia. What an odd relationship you have my dear.
