" Take me back to the middle of nowhere, back to the place only you and I share."

-Skylar Torres
=============
SKYLAR⚓️

Heading back to the hospital, I stumbled upon Kai who seemed lost.

"Hey Kai!" He snapped out from running in circles.

"Bless the lord, you're here! I need your help, this hospital is more confusing than my own house! Just bring me to Jeremy, would you?" He practically begged with puzzled eyes.

"Sure, I'm heading there too...but I wanted to ask you something actually." I held him by the shoulders.

"What?" He answered shortly, curiosity swirling in his eyes.

"You know...you told me about that girl you loved but she was forced to marry another gu–" he interrupted me.

"Oh...she...she left the town one night just like that, I guess she doesn't want anything to do with me. Either way, she's not coming back--" he stared down to his feet with a small chuckle of regret.

I knew he didn't like thinking about how he didn't get to be with her.

"Is her name Lilliana?" I questioned almost too quickly.

"...yes...how did you know?" His eyebrows pressed together a frown.

"...I saw her just yesterday, she—" he grabbed my wrist.

"Where is she?" His face held seriousness, something he was never known for.

"At the cafe near the underground wrestling arena."

"Of course! Why didn't I think about that?? Shit! I'll be back, Sky. I just- I just have to see her."

He dashed out of the hospital, shoving everyone out of his way without hesitation.

I, on the other hand, got stopped by the sight of a familiar nurse.
"You must be Skylar, right?" The nurse confirmed.

"Yes, any news about Jeremy?"

"The operation is successful, but he's still unconscious."

Heaving a sigh of relief, I placed my hand on my chest, calming its rapid heart beat.

"What's his ward number?"

"Sorry Skylar, but I can only release such information to his family members."

You've got to be kidding me? First, you chose to tell me his situation and afterwards, forbid yourself from telling me his ward?!!

I knew I had to find another way round this, giving her a shocked expression, I answered

"I'm Mrs Lockhart, his wife." It took me so much not to burst out laughing.

"Erm w-what? Aren't you a little young..." she muttered.

Make a scene, make a scene now.

My eyes wandered to her name tag before countering back. "What are you suggesting Alice? That young love doesn't exist? Hmm? I'm his wife, I deserve to know where my husband is!" I threw my hands in the air hysterically, causing her to nod profusely.

"Of course, of course! I'm sorry Mrs...Lockhart. His ward number is 7B, 006." Several others glanced my way in concern and pity.

"Thank you, Alice." I took off, holding back my laughter.

Following the directions, I came upon a room with its door wide open. My eyes teared up just by looking at his limp body lie on the bed. Walking over to him slowly, I watched his chest move along with his calm breathing. Tubes pierced his skin, making me wince.

Pulling a chair to the side of his bed, I traced my fingers over his hand, remembering those times our fingers intertwined when I was afraid.

"Jeremy..." I placed a light kiss on his forehead, blinking back the tears.

"I'm sorry, for everything. For not believing you, for shooting you, for leaving you alone, for pushing you away at times...but despite all my flaws...you still risk everything for me. It's a little late for you to hear this but I love you...I'll never stop. "

Only then, did I release I was sobbing, with my head resting on his arm—wishing it would just embrace me, hold me close.

I lifted my head almost immediately upon hearing someone clear their throat.
" Hey Sky, I didn't mean to interrupt..." Gabriel casts me a sad smile, his rain blue eyes mirroring my feelings.

"It's okay..." I frowned in confusion. "How did you know which ward Jeremy was in?"

"Well, with undeniable good looks, I don't need to pretend to be his wife." He chuckled, making me bite my lip, a blush coating my cheeks.

He's definitely going to tell Jeremy...if he even wakes up.

"I visited Jeremy about three hours ago when you were with Jonah. I actually came to see you." His words surprised me, what would he possibly want to tell me?

I gave him a look of a approval to continue. Pulling a book out of his backpack, he passed it to me.

"Isn't this the book Jeremy loved reading or something?" I squinted my eyes, a smile gracing my lips.

"You mean a book he loved writing..." he corrected quietly.

"W-what? About what?"

"God damit, Skylar! You know how I hate talking about love directly. Isn't it obvious? Jeremy wrote this story for you, it's basically your love story -- you and him. It was suppose to be just  a normal story entry that would enable him to get into Yale. But, once you entered his life, he lost control. It wasn't just a normal story that could get him into Yale, it is so much more than that. He begin writing from the heart with different reasons in mind. You became the reason he wrote. He never wanted to forget..." Gabriel's voice grew softer, he left me speechless as usual.

I remained silent, staring down at the book. At that moment, Dante came strolling in " Skylar? The police would want to interview you. I need to talk to you too, I could bring you there...?"

"Sure, thank you. Just a moment." I murmured out before Dante left the room to give Gabriel and I privacy.

Gabriel's eyes met before he continued, my head resting against his chest.

"He loves you Skylar, my best bud' is in love with you as much as you are in love with him."

"Thanks for being willing to talk to me, despite all that I did." Dante broke the silence as we sat in his car, still at the hospital's car park.

"You're still my best friend, Dante. Sure, you've made a few bad decisions but that wasn't the real you." I assured him, my hand over his.

"I honestly don't deserve you, I hope Jeremy gets better though. I hope he's as forgiving as you." He started his car.

"I'm sure you guys will figure it out. So...what are your plans about your dad, your family and yourself?" I changed the topic, genuinely curious.

"Mateo, my mum, Emily and I will be moving to another state, to start anew-- get away from all those bad memories. I'll be going for therapy too, to ensure I overcome this illness of mine. And for my dad, it's rather simple. He's going to jail......is it bad that I don't feel sad at all?"

"Well, it depends on each individual to be honest. But I'm sure a small part of you will miss him." He nodded understandingly, continuing to keep his eyes on the road.

"Wait...if Alec is going to jail...does that mean..."

Dante finished my sentence with a grin spread across his cheeks.

"Jeremy's dad is free."
