"Let's seize the day. Let's run away. Don't let the colors fade to grey."

-Jeremy Lockhart
=============
SKYLAR⚓️

"I'm not jumping down." I wiggled out of his arms.

"You don't have a choice Skylar, jump or get burnt?"

I remained quiet.

"Are you actually thinking on what to choose ? Gosh Sky!" He grabbed me by the waist, sweeping me off my feet. As a result, my legs hooked around his torso.

Cupping my chin, he gave me a soft look. "You don't have to be scared Sky, I'm here okay?" I nodded before burying my head into the crook of his neck. Though Jeremy sounded assuring, I could feel his heart beating as fast as mine.

Siting at the ledge of the window, he took a deep breath as my fingers gripped his tshirt. The next thing I knew, we both started screaming , my hair flying into all directions.

"AHHHHHHHHH OOPMH!" Jeremy landed on the ground first with me in his arms, protected.

"Damn my head" he groaned, rubbing the back of his head. Fluttering my eyes open, I looked up to see his blue eyes squinting in pain.

"WE'RE ALIVE!!...Jeremy! Are you alright?" I kneeled beside him.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine" he brushed off, before I lifted his blonde fringe that fell over his eyes.

"You're bleeding!" My eyes examined his gash at the side of his forehead.

"Well, as if that's something new." He muttered, with a snort.

"What did you say?" I didn't comprehend his comment, he shrugged it off.

"It doesn't matter, you're safe at least. We can get bandages anyway. " He sighed, siting upwards. Placing a hand over my heart, I mocked.

"You care for me?"

"Uh no, I'm just glad you're safe cause your mom would kill me if something happened to you." He said in a bored tone. And now we're back at the tough Jeremy who is covering his feelings. Sometimes he drives me up the wall with his bipolar-ness.

Glancing back at the church which had thick black fumes stretching skywards, the loud sirens could be heard.

The howling wind that blew through the forest fed the raging flames,  turning the church into a gloomy black.

"We should get going before the police gets here, come on" I stood up with Jeremy's arm over my shoulder.

The sun was setting as we reached Jeremy's car, I couldn't believe a day could pass by that quick.

We had 29 days left.

"Where are we going to spend the night?" I asked as we drove off.

"I have my contacts." He smirked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
We were far from home, and to be honest, I didn't want to go back. If this whole road trip would have happened to me a few months back, I would have definitely wanted to be back home. I would have wanted to be safe and protected by the walls of my house but now...

I crave that feeling of spending each day as if it was my last. I don't need a home to feel safe, not when I have a sense of assurance that Jeremy would be there to protect me. He has made me regain trust in people—something I used to have before Jonah broke it.

"Do you think 3W! lit the church on fire?" Jeremy broke my string of thoughts.

"Who else would it be? He was the one who led us there, I bet he was trying to bring us down before we can even get to the next clue." I huffed out.

"We're here!" He stopped the car abruptly, causing me to jerk forward.

Frowning I wondered why he seemed so excited, lifting my eyes to view what was ahead of us—my jaw dropped.

It was not a hotel.

It was a house but not just any house.

The house was like one of those ones rich people buy when they get paranoid about having too much money.

Stepping out of the car, the enchanted lights trailed to the magnificent rose gardens which led a path towards the grand entrance. I've never seen a mansion so grand, it felt like I was in a dream.

Clearing his throat, Jeremy interrupted my gaze. Sighing in irritation, I walked over to him before placing his arm over my shoudler.

"I can't believe you can drive for an hour but you can't walk a meter!" I chuckled in disbelief.

"There's a big difference between driving and walking and plus, you're the school nurse afterall." He snickered mischievously.

"You're never letting that go, aren't you?" I said in defeat.

"Nope!"

"Well then Lockhart, you better watch out cause I have a knife in my bag and I'm not afraid to use it!" I threatened as I leaned towards his ear. Choking on his saliva, he moved away.

"Oh look at that, miracles do happen! I can suddenly walk perfectly fine!" He laughed nervously, walking ahead.

"So...who stays here?" Curiosity piqued within.

Handing me a playful smile, he pushed the doors open. My eyeballs almost fell out when he did that.

"Jeremy this is someone's house, you can't just barge in!" I whispered harshly, but all he did was laugh.

We are so dead.

I expected some rich couple to come strolling down the glass steps which twirled around the center fountain or even an elderly looking businessman who would have cash stuffed to the brim of his pockets.

But I was so wrong.

Suddenly a loud voice screamed.

" If I pulled you closer would you mindddddd!!! If our hands get lower would we grinddddd!!!" I whipped my head towards Jeremy, casting him a questioning look but all he did was motion with his fingers 1...2...3.

Once he showed his third finger, a guy came moonwalking out before jumping down each step.

No way. How could–what?!

"Would you minddddd—oh my lord! SKYLAR!!" He stopped singing and ran down the steps. To be honest, I hoped he would trip.

Pulling my hand to his lips, he kissed it lightly.

"Getting hotter by each passing second as usual." He have me a flirty smile.

"Charming as always, Kai!" I played along before embracing him, and he didn't take a second to respond with a hug too.

"JJ!!" He punched Jeremy right in his the stomach–and with Jeremy being injured, he couldn't fight back.

"What happened to him?" Kai raised a perfect eyebrow, pushing his glasses back up his nose.

"Long story..." I trailed.

Scanning Kai from head to toe, he had a white robe on with KH imprinted onto it. He just had to imprint his name on everything. His hair was still wet, so I assumed he just came out of the shower. Taking a second look at his head, I rubbed my eyes, praying that my eyes were fooling me.

"Uh...Kai? Why do you have a crown on your head?"

"Cause I'm the King, duh. Im legitimately good at every single thing and plus once you enter my house, it's my world!" Spreading his hands out, he twirled around in happiness with a cocky smile.

"Kai, it's a McDonald' crown for god's sake! It's one of those paper crowns you get when you buy a Happy-meal!" I burst out into a giggling fit.

"I'll take what I get!" He pouted like a child with his arms folded across his chest before continuing to speak.

"Now, who wants to hear me sing again?"

One thing I knew for sure—this was going to be a long night...
