Despite the initial intimidation, Mila really enjoyed hanging out with Audrey.

"This is really cute," Audrey said, holding out a glittery bra like top.

"I think the horses would really appreciate that," Mila added. They both giggled.

Mila had a few things picked out. The sale was good, but she still felt bad. She picked up a pair of jeans and a few tops.

Buck and Jackson were lounging in some chairs up front. She gestured for him to come over.

"What's up?" he asked.

"I wanted to show you what I have," she said biting her lip. She went through each piece and he gave her intense attention.

"Very nice, honey. I'm glad you found some things." He kissed her cheek.

After that, Jackson and Audrey parted ways.

"I'm very proud of you," Buck said in the truck a while later. "I know you were overwhelmed at first, but you did so good. How about a treat?"

She tugged on his shirt before he took off driving, and he leaned down so she could peck his lips.

"You've done so much," she whispered.

He nuzzled her face. She always smiled when he did, and he loved to see it. "You deserve the world."

He felt the skin of her cheeks heat up and he pressed his lips to hers one last time before putting the car in reverse.

She watched curiously as he drove. She had never felt so normal before. Tonight was like a date, and going out with friends. That's what people her age typically do. She'd never imagined that she would enjoy tonight, but she did. Jackson was funny and Audrey was sweet. She looked forward to seeing them again.

Buck pulled into one of those big box stores that always had a little bit of everything. He caught her eye.

"I thought you could pick out something you wanted. Candy, stuffed animal, maybe some decorations for your bedroom. Whatever you want. You did so well tonight," he said. He was obviously doing it more then just because he was proud of her. He wanted her to have a few things she cherished.

She tucked into his side as they walked the store. He carried a basket in one hand and held her hand with his other.

He allowed her to lead and she immediately went to the toy aisles. She had always wanted a stuffed animal. She had an old bear that was in her nursery as a baby, but that was it.

She was awestruck by all the bright colors and textures.

"Look how cute," she whispered, picking up a purple bunny and squeezing it tight. She ruffled around the packed shelves until she came across a very round shark. It was the softest thing she had ever felt in her whole entire life.

"Oh my goodness," she mumbled, immediately handing it to Buck so he could feel.

He was honestly impressed. It was like a marshmallow. He looked at the tag. "She has a name. Shadow."

"Shadow," she repeated. "Can I get her, please?"

He nodded. She was absolutely adorable. "Of course. Let's keep walking."

Mila refused to let go of the shark as they walked.

She stalled as they passed the tubs of ice cream. Buck paused and looked to see what she was staring at. He waited patiently to see if she would ask, but she seemed conflicted.

"Mila, do you want to get ice cream?" he asked. She turned to look up at him.

"No. I was just looking. I am getting Shadow."

"I wouldn't make you get one or the other, Darlin'. You don't need to be afraid to ask me," he said softly, taking her hand and moving her closer to the clear freezer doors.

"I don't think I've had most of these," she said, shark still clutched tightly in her hands.

He hummed, adding in a whisper, "Ice cream is my weakness."

She giggled. "You pick then. Can we eat it when we go home?"

He froze a bit from the word sounding so sweet coming from her lips. He smiled immediately. He was falling for this pretty girl, and he couldn't believe she just home.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders kissing the side of her head.
