I sat Aliyah's birthday cake in the middle of the long white table, while Kerri and Ellis helped me put up the decorations in the backyard. "Chile is to hot out here to be tryna put some damn ballons in the trees." I rolled my eyes and ignored him.

"I'll be right back, Im gunna go check on Li-Li." I stepped back into the house and made my way upstairs to Aliyah's room to see her in her dress, with Stasia taking down her hair. "Well, well look at you." I said as I closed the door behind me. "Is daddy here yet?" She asked loooking up at me. I shook my head. "No not yet, but he'll be here soon."

"Thanks Stasia, I got it from here." She nodded and let go of Aliyah's hair. "Amara and I are gunna put up some more decorations." I nodded and turned to Aliyah. "Did you say thank you?"

"Thank you Auntie Stasia." She chuckled and left the room. I sat on the bed and pulled Aliyah into my lap so I could finish her hair. "Do you think daddy got me a present??" I laughed. "Of course he did, you really miss him huh?" She nodded.

"Im gunna run to him when I see him." I laughed again. "That makes two of us." I brushed her hair back and put it in a ponytail. "Alright, your all done." I picked her up and carried her out to the backyard, where some kids and their parents were.

I walked around and greeted all the parents that stayed to watch their kids. I checked and made sure everything was in place , when I felt a slight tapon my shoulder. I turned around to see Stasia. "Someone's at the front door, do you want me to get it?" I shook my head no. "No I got it, thanks." I turned around and walked through the sliding door, that led back into the house.

I jogged to the front door and stood up on my tippy toes to look out the peep hole. My face lit up once I seen Trey with Asia.

I opened up the front door and smiled at the both of them. "Hey, come inside." I stepped to the side and let them in. "Im glad you guys came, I know we live kind of far from each other now." Trey fanned me off. "You know I had to come see my goddaughhter." I turned to Asia and smiled. "Hey, I like your hair, the short cut is cute on you.

"Thanks..." She said dryly. "Where can I put these?" She lifted up the gifts she was holding, waiting for me to answer her. "Oh um, there's a table out in the backyard for them." She walked passed me, leaving Trey and I alone.

"What was that about?" I whispered. He sighed and shrugged. "I don't know, she's been acting strange since we left the house." "Oh." I said lowly. "Well um, how's everything going for you? I know you got a new job and stuff."

He smirked. "Everything's going great. You know I had to change my job after Asia and I got married, so, things are good." I smiled. "And how's the married life?" He laughed. "It's good, I can't complain." I nodded. "Well good, Im really glad you came, we don't talk like we used too." He chuckled. "I know, we used to be best friends." "We sure were."

He followed me out to the backyard, where Asia was already seated at the table, typing on her phone. I frowned and slightly turned to Trey. "Are you sure she's okay? It seems like something is bothering her." He sighed. "I don't know, whatever it is she won't tell me, so Ima just give her some space." I nodded. "Alright, well like I said before, than you for coming." He smiled. "No problem, but ima go, that snack bar is callin my name." I shook my head and watched him walk away.

"What's her problem?" I turned around to see Kerri and Ellis standing behind me, staring at Asia. I shrugged. "I don't know, I asked Trey and he doesn't know either, he said she's had a attitude for a little while now." Ellis smacked his lips together. "She probably mad about that ugly ass hair cut she got." I slapped his chest and shook my head. "Stop it."

"It's true, that shit ain't cute, and on top of that, it's blonde." I rolled my eyes and ignored him. "Maybe she doesn't want to be here." Kerri added. I shrugged. "I don't see why not, I mean she's Aliyah's godmother."

"By default." Ellis added. "It ain't like she was asking to be her godmother, when she married Trey she got that position by default." I sighed. "Okay and? I don't see what that has to do with her being upset right now." Kerri nodded. "Me either...but keep a eye on her Simone, she always has a attitude whenever she's around you." I nodded, knowing she was right. Ever since Asia got with Trey officially a few years back, she always acted passive with me. Everytime she was around me she acted strange.

I took a deep breath and looked around the party to see everything in control. All I needed was August to finally get here and then everything would be complete.

"Where's the birthday girl??" I jumped a little once I heard his voice. I turned around too see August stepping outside to the backyard. "Daddy!!" Aliyah climbed out of her chair and ran as fast as she could into his arms. A smile formed on my face once I seen them hug one another. I was about to walk over to them, when my smile turned into a immediate frown.

Ryelle stepped outside, smiling at everyone. I folded my arms across my chest and walked over to August, who was still hugging and talking to Aliyah. "Hey ma." He stood up straight and kissed me. "Hey....I see you brought Ryelle." She smiled at me and held her hand out. "It's good to see you again Simone." I cracked a small smile.

"Oh and happy birthday Li-Li." She looked down at Aliyah, who had the same confused expression as me. "Only my family calls me Li-Li, are you my family?" "No." I answered quickly. August looked over at me, and frowned. "This is one of daddy's friends." He started. "She came to wish you happy birthday." Aliyah smiled. "Oh okay."

"And I got you a gift." She pulled a bpx put from behind her back and held it out for her to see. Aliyah smile widened. "Thank you." She ran back over to the table and sat beside Amara. I turned to August and lifted a brow. "Can I tallk to you really quick?" He nodded. "Yeah, sure." He placed his hand on the small of my back and led me back into the house. I closed the glass door behind him, making sure no one could hear us.

"Wassup?" He took a seat on the couch and got comfortable. "..You didn't tell me you were bringing Ryelle here." He nodded. "Oh yeah, it was a spare of the moment type thing." I frowned. "It was a spare of the moment thing to bring some girl to your daughter's sixth birthday party??" He nodded. "She's not some girl, she's my tourmate and, yeah."

"Why'd did you even bring her? I thought you had the next two days off?" He nodded. "I do, and Ryelle came home with me." I frowned, not understanding any of this. "Why??? Why didn't she just go back home??" He sighed. "Look, she didn't have anyone to be with, so I was just being nice so she wouldn't have to be bored and alone back at her place." I was silent for a second.

"...And where is she staying?" He sucked his teeth. "We got guests rooms." My eyes widened. "You invited her to stay here without consulting with me first?" He nodded and chuckled. "Yeah, I ain't think it was that serious, besides this is my house too." I sighed and shook my head. "You know what, were gunna talk about this later, let's just make this a good day for Aliyah." I shook my head and walked back outside with him right behind me.

Aliyah ran up to me and hooked herself on my legs. "Can we have cake now please??" I sighed and nodded. "Okay, go sit at the table and we can cut the cake." I smiled once I seen the happiness written across her face. Making her happy was the only thing that mattered to me. "Alright everyone, were gunna cut the cake now, so please take a seat at the table so we can sing happy birthday to Li-Li."

August took his seat at the table and pulled back my chair for me. I was about to sit down when Ryelle sat down in my seat. I opened my mouth to speak, but August cut me off, just in time. "Um Ryelle, this is Simone's seat." She looked over at me and quickly stood up. "Oh my god, Im sorry Simone." She moved out of the way and let me sit down.

"I know she ain't just sit in yo seat." Ellis said to me as he sat down across the table. "Yes she sure did." Kerri added. I glanced over at them and shook my head, not wanting to start anything at Aliyah's party.

I pulled Aliyah into the chair beside me, which had her birthday cake infront of it. I stood up and grabbed the plastic knife and smiled. "Everybody on 3."

"1, 2, 3...Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Aliyah, happy birtday to you!!" Everyone cheered and clapped, while August tickled Aliyah in her seat. I cut the first piece of cake and sat in on Aliyah's plate. "Who's next??" I chuckled once I seen everyone lift up their plates. "Alright, pass your plates down the table and I'll serve you."

*********

"Wait he invited the bitch to stay, and ain't even ask you??" I shushed Ellis and nodded. "Yeah he did." "I know you told him she couldn't stay right?" I looked over at Kerri and sighed. "No I didn't, it's Aliyah's birthday and I didn't want to start a arguement at the party, but I damn sure got a few choice words for him later."

Ellis chuckled. "Chile I can't believe him, and look at them, just choppin it up like they haven't been on tour together for a month." I glanced over my shoulder to see Ryelle and August still sitting at the table, talking.

"What the hell they be talkin about?" Kerri asked leaning back into the bench. "He should be over here talking to you, your the one that hasn't seen him in a month." I was silent, knowing that he was right. "Just let him have his moment cause he's gunna hear my mouth tonight." Kerri chuckled. "I'll pray for Augusts' ears."

I felt a small tap on my shoulder, causing me to turn around. "Oh hey Trey." I stood up from the bench and smiled. "Asia and I were about to head out, I just wanted to say bye to you and August first." I nodded. "Thanks for coming, I'll walk you guys out."

I walked over to the sliding door and let Trey and Asia walk in first. I walked them to the front door and smirked. "Hopefully I'll see you guys soon, Aliyah always asks about you guys." Trey smiled. "We'll try and stop by more often, right Asia?" She slightly rolled her eyes and nodded.

"Yeah....can I have the car keys please?" Trey pulled his keys out his back pocket and handed them to her. "I'll be there in a minute." She fanned him off and walked out the front door. "Well I let you go, I know you and Asia have stuff to talk about." He sighed. "Im not lookin forward to it, but yeah...alright, I'll call you soon." I nodded. "Alright."

I pulled him into a tight hug and watched him walk out the door.

********************

"Thank y'all for staying and helping me clean up, I appreciate it." I opened up the front door for Kerri and Ellis, letting them walk out. "Your welcome, give Li-Li a kiss for me." Kerri quickly hugged me and walked off towards Ellis' car. "And tell August to call me." I slapped his shoulder and closed the door. "Typical Ellis." I mumbled.

I locked the front door and made my way upstairs to Aliyah's bedroom. I pushed open the door to see Ryelle sitting on Aliyah's bed talking to her. "I like your bracelet." Aliyah said grabbing her arm. I cleared my throat, causing the both of them to look up at me.

"Oh hey Simone, I was just wishing Aliyah a happy bithday again, and we got caught up in our conversation." I let out a weak smile. "It's time for bed Li-Li." She sighed, while Ryelle stood up from the edge of her bed. "I'll just excuse myself." She smiled at me before entering one of the guests room far down the hall.

I let out a long sigh and walked over to her drawers, pulling out a pair of pajamas. I turned around to see her pulling her shirt over her head, getting ready to change. "Ryelle is really nice mommy." I rolled my eyes a little and put on a fake smile. "Yeah, I know." I bent down to the ground, holding her pajama pants open. "How come I never met her before?" She leaned on me as she stepped into her pants. I pulled them up to her waist and sighed.

"She's on tour with daddy, they just became friends." She nodded and sat up on the bed in her usual position. "Did you have fun today?" I aksed, changing the subject. I took down Aliyah's hair and put them them into two french braids. "Yeah, did you see all the new toys I got?" I chuckled. "I sure did, did you like them all?" She nodded her head yes. "I picked her up and placed her in her bed. "Did you brush?" She nodded. "Alright, get some rest little one." I kissed her forehead and turned out her lamp. "I'll see you in the morning."

I closed her door and went down the hall to my bedroom. I slightly rolled my eyes once I seen August undressing. "Aliyah in bed?" I nodded. "Yeah." I closed the door behind me and undid my jeans. "I'll tuck her in tommorow night." I nodded and pulled my shirt over my head.

"Damn ma." He looked me up and down and licked his lips. "It's been thirty days since I seen that body." I ignored him and walked into the bathroom, beginning to tie my hair up. " You good?" He walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, kissing my cheek. "Im fine." I moved out of his grasp and walked back into the bedroom, getting in bed.

I slipped into bed, just for August to do the same. I switched off my lamp and felt his arm wrap around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I sighed and pushed his arm off me. "What's wrong?"I was silent. He sucked his teeth and switched his lamp back on.

"Wassup? You still upset about Ryelle being here?" I sat up in bed and switched my lamp on. "Your damn right Im still upset August, you just invitied this girl in our home without asking me first." He sighed and sat up straight.

"Why you makin it such a big deal? Damn, I ain't think it would be such a problem." I scoffed. "Well you obviously thought wrong then, what the hell is she gunna do here for the next two days? I thought we were gunna spend time together." "We still are." I frowned. "And how are we gunna do that with Ryelle here?"

"We could always go out." I sucked my teeth. "And leave her up in my house alone? You must be out of your damn mind." He sighed. "Then we can stay in, damn." I was silent for a second. "None of this would have been a problem if you would have asked me if she could stay here."

"And you would have said no." I shrugged. "So?" "So." He started. "This is my house too, and I should be able to invite whoever I want here." I nodded. "But she's a female, and someone I barely know, I think you should have atleast called me and talked to me about it first."

He sighed and shook his head. "Why you actin like this? You haven't been this insecure in a long ass time." My eyes widened. "Insecure? Im not insecure August, I know my place." He sucked his teeth. "You sure? Cause you damn sure ain't acting like it."

I rolled over in bed, facing my back towards him. "Whatever, if im being insecure to you then so be it, just don't bring no more bitches in my house without talking with me first, and that's final." I scooted to the edge and cut off my lamp. "You always doin that shit, starting something you can't finish."

I turned back on my lamp and frowned. "Excuse me?" "You heard me." he said laying down on his pillow. "What the hell is that suppose to mean??" "You always wanna end our conversations with your word being the last, you don't ever try to talk shit out with me."

"There's nothing to talk about!" I snapped. He opened his mouth to speak, but a knock at the door stopped him. "Come in!" I sat up in bed, knowing it was probably Aliyah at the door. "Sorry to bother you guys." I sighed a little once I seen Ryelle standing in the doorway. "Do you guys have any spare towels I could use?" August sighed and got out of bed. "Yeah, I'll show you where they're at." He looked back at me and shook his head before walking out the door.
