I leaned into the mirror as I lined my eyes with my eyeliner. "Mommy!" I could hear Aliyah's little feet making there way into my bathroom. "Hey munchkin, you got all your stuff packed for tonight?" She nodded. "What time will Auntie Stasia be here?" I smirked. "She'll be here soon, you ready for your slumber party?" She nodded her head, showing her excitement.

I smirked and leaned back into the mirror. "Whatcha doing?" She climbed up on the bathroom counter and stared at me through the mirror. "Putting on makeup." She frowned. "What's makeup?" I chuckled as I grabbed my bottle of mascara. "It's stuff to make a girl extra pretty." She nodded.

"So why don't I wear makeup?" I laughed. "Because your already beautiful Li-Li, you don't need it." She smiled. "And so are you, you don't need it either." I chuckled. "Well thank you." She watched me carefully as I put on my mascara and then my lipstick. "When will I get to wear that?"

"You can wear eyeliner and mascara when your 14." Her eyes widened. "That's like a billion years from now!" I picked her up off the counter and placed her back to the ground. "It'll come by faster than you'll think, go put your things by the door, so you can be ready." She nodded and raced out of my room.

******

"Make sure you call me before you got to bed." I kissed Aliyah on her forehead and watched her race over to Stasia's car. "I'll call you later." Stasia semi-shouted through the window. I nodded and watched her back through the gates, and take off down the street.

I stepped back into the house and went upstairs to my bedroom to finish getting ready. I plugged in my curling wand and waited for it go get hot. I checked my phone to see a text from Sean. I smiled and quickly opened it.

SEAN(4:45PM)-Can't wait to see you, make sure you bring a towel.

A huge smile spread across my face and texted him back. I picked up my curling iron, and began to do my hair, excited about the water park today. I hadn't been to one since I went years ago with Trey, so I was excited to go again.

I sat down my curling iron and walked back into my bedroom, picking up my bathing suit and putting in my cross body bag, so I could change when I got to the park. I was kind of conscious about wearing a bathing suit infront of Sean and his friends, so I settled on wearing a one piece instead of a bikini.

I stepped back into the bathroom, and finished my hair, making sure I sat my bun up as high as I could, so it wouldn't get wet, when I heard the doorbell go off. I frowned wondering who it could be. I sighed and turned on my heels, making my way back downstairs.

I rushed to the front door and stood on my tippy toes to look out the peep hole. I frowned once I seen a older lady I never seen before standing there. I opened up the door and slighty smiled. "...Hi, can I help you?" She looked me up and down before speaking. "Im looking for a August Alsina." I slightly frowned. "He's not here right now, can I help you with something??"

She shook her head no. "I just need to speak with August. I don't need one of his girls to help me." I scoffed. "Excuse me? Im his wife, so if he's not here to help you, Im the next one in line." She cleared her throat. "Oh, you must be Simone correct?" I nodded. "Yes I am, I didn't catch your name? Do I know you?" She opened up her mouth to speak, but the sound of someone's voice stopped her.

"Can I come out yet grandma?" She sighed and turned to the little boy. "I told you to stay in the car until I finished." He sighed. "Just stand here baby." She turned back to me and took a deep breath. "Do you have a number where I can reach him at? It's really important." I frowned. "Whatever it is, I'll be happy to pass along the message." I folded my arms across my chest and waited.

"Let me introduce myself." She started. "My name is Margaret Whitaker." She stuck out her hand for me to shake." I slowly shook her hand in frowned. "Your last name sounds fairly familar...should I know you?" She slightly chuckled. "No, but I believe you know my daughter."

"....Who's your daughter?" She sighed. "Ariana." My eyes widened. I looked the woman up and down, in shock. "I know Im the last person you probably expected on your doorstep, but this is important." I was silent.

"This here is AJ." She placed her hands on the little boys shoulders and moved him infront of her. "He's my daughter's son." I placed my hand over my mouth, knowing where this was going. "He's also your husbands son as well." The little boy looked up from the game he was playing and smiled at me.

"Now I know your probably confused about all of this, so let me explain." I stared down at the little boy in shock. "AJ, can you go back to the car for a minute?" He sighed. "But grandma." "Just go please." He turned on his heels and walked back out to the driveway.

She took a deep breath and turned to me. "As we all know, Ariana went to prison for the things she was trying to do to you." I cleared my throat, not wanting to speak about that. "She was still pregnant at the time, and they made sure all her medical needs were taken care of." She paused before continuing. "....In one of our visitation meetings she told me she had wrote your husband, letting him know the baby passed away from her being drugged."

I stood there silent, waiting for her to finish. "Even though I didn't agree with her lying about the baby's death, I had to respect her wishes to not interfer....So when she went into labor, she had to give the baby away, and she wanted me to keep him, and to not contact your husband at all..."

"I've had him for the past five years now, and I just can't keep him anymore." I frowned. "Not because I don't want to, my health won't allow me to. Im getting sick and I can't care for him like Im suppose to, that's why Im here." She took another deep breath before continuing. "I know this is alot to put on you at once, but it's something I have to do. I need August to keep AJ until Ariana gets out in a few months."

"Oh my god." I mumbled. "AJ!" She shouted behind her. He ran back over to the front door and stood beside her. "AJ meet Ms.Simone." He looked up at me and smiled again. "Hi, nice to meet you." He held out his hand, waiting for me to shake it. I tried to fight the tears that were forming, as I forced myself to smile and shake his hand. I looked him up and down, taking in his appearence. It was no denying that this was Augusts' son.

"Um...Im gunna call August so he can come home, you guys can come inside." I moved over and motioned for them to come inside. Once they did, I closed the door behind them and showed them to the living room. "You have a lovely home." I cracked a small smile. "Thank you, I'll be right back." I sped walked up the stairs and into my bedroom and pulled out my phone.

I dialed August's number as quick as I could and placed the phone to my ear.

AUGUST: "Hello?"

ME: "I need you to get over here, now."

AUGUST: "For what?? Is something wrong?"

I sighed.

ME: "Can you just please get over here as fast as you can?"

AUGUST: "Why? What's going on?"

ME: ".....Aliyah isn't feeling good and she keeps asking for you."

I didn't want to lie, but I also didn't want to tell him about his new son over the phone.

AUGUST: "Ight, give me 10 minutes."

He hung up the phone before I could say anything else.

I dialed Sean's number as quickly as I could to let him know I had to cancel our date for this evening. Once heanswered I took a sigh of relief.

SEAN: "Hello?"

ME: "Hey, Im sorry, but I have to cancel today."

SEAN: "...Damn, I was just about to head over to your place, did something happen?"

ME: "Yeah um, something came up with my family and I have to handle it."

SEAN: "Alright, call me when everything's good."

I smiled.

ME: "I will."

*********

I opened up the front door and let August come inside. "She in her room?" I sighed and shook my head. "Actually Aliyah's fine, I just needed to get you over here." He frowned. "For what??" "...Someone's here to see you." I said motioning to the living room. "Who?" I was silent. "Who's here Simone?" I swalloed hard. "Just...go into the living room." His frown deepend once he seen how uneasy I was.

He turned and walked into the living room, as I followed right behind him. "Maraget, this is August." He looked back at me and then at the lady. She stood up from the couch and shook his hand. "It''s nice to meet you son." He carefully shook her hand as she continued to look her up and down.

"Im sorry, but who are you?" She let go of his hand and sighed. "My name is Maraget Whitaker, Im Ariana's mother." His eyes grew wide. "Im sorry to just pop up out of the blue like this, but I had to come here immediately." She looked back at the little boy on the couch and sighed. "Is there, anyplace we can talk in private?" August nodded. "...Yeah, the kitchen." He motioned for all of us to step into the kitchen and we did.

"As you know Ariana is in prison, still serving her sentence." We both nodded. "When she first got arrested, she was still pregnant and I believe she wrote you a letter letting you know the baby passed away." August nodded. "Yeah she did." He mumbled.

She took a deep breath before continuing. "Well. She started. "Im here to tell you that that was a lie. Ariana never lost the baby, she was provided with doctoral services during her sentence, and gave birth to a healthy baby boy." Augusts' whole body froze. "...What??"

She nodded. "Now, I never agreed with her keeping him a secret from you, but as the mother, I had to respect her wishes." He looked over at me, trying to figure out if this was true or not. "I've been taking care of him for the past five years, but my health is deteriorating and I can't care for him any longer."

August shook his head, not believing what was going on. "Are you tryna tell me that I have a son out here somewhere?" She sighed. "Yes, you have a son...that's him on the couch over there." She said, whispering the last part. "His name is AJ." August looked over at the couch in shock. " that boy on the couch is my son?" She nodded. "Yes, that's him." In that moment, I could see all the breath escape his body. "AJ, come here please." Margaret said. The litte boy got up from the couch and raced into the kitchen.

"AJ...this your father, August." The little boy slowly looked up at August, slightly scared. "...Your name is August too?" He nodded slowly. "Yes baby, your named after him remember? Your August Jr." My eyes widened, once I realized that's what AJ stood for.

AJ slightly smiled and held out his hand. "Nice to meet you." August looked him up and down as his eyes turned slightly glassy. He grabbed his hand and shook it. "Okay, go back to the living room for a second baby." He nodded and ran out of the kitchen.

"I know this is alot right now, but I need to ask a huge favor." August was silent, I guess he was still processing everything that was happening. "..I need AJ to stay here with you all for the next four months, until my daughter's sentence is up." August stood there silent.

"I know it's alot to ask of you but-" "He's welcomed to stay with us." I said, cutting her off. She turned to me and smiled. "Thank you so much." I nodded. "Of course." She took a sigh of relief and pulled her car keys out of her pocket. "He has a few bags in the car for the next few days, I can come back and drop off the rest of his things in a few days." I nodded. "That's fine." She thanked me again, before heading out the door for his bags.

I walked over to August, who was staring at AJ while he played his game in the living room. "You alright?" I placed my hand on his and rubbed it. He stood there silent, just watching him. I grabbed his hand and held it, feeling so sorry for him.
