~Paul's POV~

I walked up the pathway and turned around as I approached the porch. What the hell was si even doing here? It wasn’t like Tiffany like me, much less approved of my existence. I walked up the steps and paused when I reached the front door. It seemed like my hand had a mind of its own because before I knew it; I was knocking on the door.

The door opened slowly and an old man, probably in his late forties peered around the door. “Who are you?”

At the tone of his voice, my back automatically straightened up. I cleared my throat, which felt ridiculously dry. He stepped outside completely and his tall frame had me taking a step back.

“I’m waiting boy. I do not have all day to watch you stand out here like an idiot. His eyes grew hard which only sent shivers further down my spine.

“I’m Paul, is Tiffany home?” I gathered enough courage to ask.

“Paul, what?” he kept glaring at me.

“Paul Jeffreys sir.” I replied.

His gazed softened. A tiny bit. “And what are you to Tiffany?” shit. What was I supposed to say to that? It’s not like I was expecting the twenty questions either.

“I’m…uhh-” I stammered.

“Dad, have you seen my blue sweater?” I heard Tiffany yelling from inside the house. She saw me and gave me on hell of a confused look. “Paul, what are you doing here?”

I looked at her dad and he also seemed to be waiting for my answer. “Well, I actually came here to ask you if you wanted to get a coffee with me sometime, but it clearly seems like that’s not happening, so I‘m sorry for coming here and wasting both your and my time.”

Her dad groaned and glared at me before walking off into the house. I was still looking at him when Tiffany stepped into my view. I drew my eyes away from her dad’s retreating frame and looked down at Tiffany.

“You didn’t waste your time Paul.” She said after a while. Her tone sounded calm and kind. I haven’t heard her sound like that in a very long time.

I couldn’t tear my gaze away from her. She smiled a warm and genuine heart-warming smile. “I didn’t?”

She shook her head and reached out for my arm. “Come on, let’s go.”

I had no other choice but to follow after her as she led us into the street. “Where are we going?”

“To get that coffee you promised me” I smiled awkwardly at her. I swear, if this was another one of her tricks; I was going to crawl in a pit and wait for this miserable life to finally end.

Once at the coffee shop, we chose a table at the back of the shop. I ordered our drinks and we ended up sitting in awkward silence for almost ten minutes.

“So, tell me what you wanted to talk about.” Tiffany said breaking the silence.

“What?” I asked, dumbstruck.

“People don’t ask others out to coffee for no apparent reason. “So spill the beans.”

“Oh, I didn’t want to tell you anything. I just thought that it would be nice having coffee with you.”

She narrowed her eyes at me questionably. “Hmm.”

I started to look around. Everywhere, but at her. I leaned to the side. What the hell was taking these people so long?

When I looked across the table, Tiffany was still looking at me. I smiled at her, making sure to show some teeth. Why was she so intent-well not out loud at least- about finding out why I asked her to come with me?

She started flicking her tongue at the top of the inside of her mouth, and it was making this nasty and annoying sound.

“Would you cut it out?” I finally asked annoyance clear in my tone.

“Would you answer my question?” she retorted.

“Technically, you didn’t ask me a question.”

“Just tell me the damn reason you asked me out.”

I was shocked. When she put it that way, it was kind of clear that I did in fact ‘ask her out’. “If I tell you the reason, will I still have my life tomorrow?” she gave me a ‘get done already’ look, so I decided to start talking. “You’re right. I did ask you here because of an ulterior motive.”

Her face expression was blank. She remained silent, so I took that as my cue to continue. “Uhh…Tiffany, for a while now I’ve been‘interested’ in you. And I guess I asked you out was to see if you gave me a chance.”

I reached over the table for her hand. She glanced down at it the back at me. “I knew it. I knew this was too good to be true.”

“W-what are you talking about?” I asked surprised.

“Tiffany, you have gorgeous eyes, I’ve never met anyone like you before and blah, blah, blah.” She said pulling her hand away. “Every guy I come across says the same thing. I didn’t think that you would be one of them Paul. I thought you were different. Do you think it’s easy walking around when everybody’s calling you a slut? I don’t like it okay? So if you think you’ll get your way with me, you’re dead wrong.”

I stared at her in shock. “Tiffany, that’s not what I-”

“Save it.” She said cutting me off. She pushed her chair back and got up. “I don’t have time to waste on assholes like you.”

She walked away and stormed out of the shop. The sound of the bell at the door was still ringing when the waiter came with the coffee.

“I’ll take that to go.” I said.” Next time, don’t take so long. Lives could end and people would still be waiting for their damn coffee.”

He was taken aback by my comment. I just glared at him in return, grabbed the coffees and left the shop too. Once I got outside, I stopped in front of a garbage can, looked at one of the coffees in my hand before throwing it away. Next time I want to ‘talk’ to a girl, there was no fucking way I was going to take her out to coffee. And to think that most girls just wanted to ‘talk’. And now when I assumed that, I got lashed at. Never again.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and reached down into my pocket to answer it. “Hello?”

“What’s up asshole?” I heard Jake’s voice on the other end.

“Nothing much dickhead.” I smiled.

“Where are you?” he asked. “I’m bored, come over and give me some company. That way you can help me pack my bags.”

“Your bags?” I asked in confusion. “You’re being discharged?”

“No Paul, I want you to help me pack so that I can go climb Mount Everest.” He answered sarcastically.

“I’ll be there in a half an hour.” I said looking down at my watch.

“See you when you get here.” He said then hung up.

~Hailey's POV~

I bit my lip as Blake slid his arm ever so calmly around my waste. I glanced at him without turning my head and saw the smirk on his face. He pulled me close and I gave in almost immediately. I moved my leg to his other side so that I was straddling him.

I locked my arms around his neck and leaned down. He leaned up in response and I pulled away just to tease him. I did this two more times before I gave in and gave him a quick peck on the lips. He groaned at the touch and this caused his mouth to fall open. I took advantage of the situation and dipped my tongue into his mouth and mentally grinned when it found his. I bit his bottom lip slightly causing him to buck up. I moaned into his mouth and I felt a smirk form on his lips.

His hands roamed my sides and moved up the length of my back and tangled themselves in my hair. I grinded down onto him and dove back in for a wet sloppy kiss. One of his hands slid down my neck and followed my spine-the other still tanging and untangling little locks around and between the fingers- and found my bar strap. Blake reached down and easily undid it. He must’ve ha some experience. At least I knew I wasn’t working with an amateur.

Just as his hands moved to the front of my top, his home telephone started ringing. I sat up straight and stared ahead of me.

I looked down at him. “Aren’t you going to get that?”

“No, leave it. I’ll get a message.” He said while starting to continue.

The phone beeped and then Blake’s mom’s voice was loud and clear, filling the empty kitchen and living room.

“Blake, we’ll be having guests over tonight. Make sure the house is tidy and pick your sister up at her friend’s place.” She paused. “You can invite that nice girl you keep talking about too. I would like to meet her properly and talk to her for more than five minutes. Love you sweetie.”

The phone clicked and then the room was filled with silence again. “You talk about me often with your mom?”

I saw Blake’s face turn a bright shade of red. “Only the important things babe.”

“And what might that be?” I asked smiling at him.

“You know like, how gorgeous you are and how happy you make me.”

“Aww Blake, that’s so sweet.” I said resting my head in his neck. “I love you.”

“What?” my eyes widened. Fuck, please tell me I didn’t just destroy a good thing.

“Uhh, nothing.” I said hastily getting up. “Look at this place. Your mom said she wanted this place cleaned up. Let’s get working.”

“No Hailey, what did you say just now?” he held on to my arm stopping me from going anywhere.

“Nothing Blake.” I looked away. “Can we just get done here? Please?”

“Okay.” He got up but narrowed his eyes suspiciously at me. I took that as him not hearing what I said less than a minute ago.

For the rest of the time while we were cleaning up, Blake kept glancing in my direction. I would have been okay with it in other situations but not this one.

We were halfway done with the kitchen when my mom called to tell me that my dad was back from France. Not wanting to miss out on an opportunity to see my dad after so long, I had to miss out on dinner with Blake and his family.

I looked over at Blake and gave him a sheepish grin. “Uhh, I have to go.”

He stopped what he was doing at turned away from the dishes in the sink. “What? Why?”

I was sure that he heard most of the conversation, so he was probably just acting dumb. “My dad’s back and I really want to spend some time with him before he has to leave again.”

“Oh.” He sounded disappointed.

“I’m sorry Blake.” I went over to him and moved to give him a peck on the lips. Just as our lips were about to touch, I rethought my actions and gave him a kiss on the cheek instead.

He stood there in the kitchen bewildered, as if he didn’t know what was going on around him.

“See you.” I yelled as I slammed the door shut behind me.

“Hailey!” My dad yelled as I got out of my mom’s car.

“Dad!” I yelled in return as I ran up to him.

He caught me in his arms and spun me around. I knew that i probably looked like a five year old, but I didn’t care. I was just happy to have my dad here with me again.

“Wow, you’ve grown so tall since I last saw you.” He beamed.“Come on. You need to tell me all about what’s been going on these past few months. Including this boyfriend I’ve been hearing about.”

I turned and scowled at my mom. “You told him, didn’t you?”

“He sensed something different in your tone whenever you mentioned your new friends. I just filled in the cracks a bit.” She replied innocently.

I rolled my eyes at her and then looked back up at my dad. I smiled at him and followed him back into the house. People always said that it was our eyes that showed our resemblance. For that I was glad, not only did I look like him, but I acted like him too. He was a kind man, and made friends wherever he went. No, he wasn’t perfect but he was still a pretty awesome dad.

“Dad you’re getting greyer every time I see you.” I said touching a few strands of his short hair. “Are those people stressing you out so much?”

“Not always. It comes with age.” He chuckled.

“You’re not that old.”

“Are you trying to change the subject by showering me with compliments?”

“No, no. I’m just stating the facts dad.”

“Hmm.” He said sitting down on the sofa and patting the area next to him.

I moved to sit next to him and bit my lip nervously.

“So, this Brian character...” He started.

“Blake.” I corrected him. “What about him?”

“He must be special if he’s got my daughter glowing brighter than the stars.

My blush deepened. “Dad.” I said in embarrassment.

“So tell me more about him. How old is he? Where does he attend school? Is he treating you properly?”

“He’s my age and he’s in my grade.” I said. I looked away. “He treats me right. He’s so sweet and caring and he cares so much for his little sister.”

“Oh, so he has a sister. Good, at least he knows how to treat a woman.” My dad nodded as if mentally checking things off a list. “What else?”

I looked back at him. “What do you mean ‘what else’?”

“Well when do I get to meet this boy?”

I felt like I just swallowed my own tongue. “Y-you want to what?”

“I can’t very well let this boy be with you without me meeting him of course. What kind of father would I be then?”

My mouth fell open. “Dad, you can’t possibly be serious.”

“I am Hailey.” He got up from the sofa. “We’ll set a day and time and then we can all go out. You, me and this Brady guy.”

“Blake, dad.” I said sighing.

“And close your mouth. You wouldn’t want a fly to go in there now would you?” he said as he walked off into the kitchen.

I couldn’t believe what my dad was suggesting. Or in his case, demanding. How the hell was I going to get myself out of this mess? Just then my phone started ringing. I saw the caller ID indicating that it was Skye.

“Skye, you called as if you knew I needed you.” I said with relief in my tone.

“What? Why, what’s up?”he asked.

“I need to hide at your house for a few hours. My dad is on my case about Blake. Mind if I come over?”

“No problem, come on over.” He said pausing for a second. “I have something to tell you too.”

We both hung up and I grabbed my bag before making a run for the door. I was lucky enough to get to Skye’s house without my parents spotting me.

I rang his door bell and he opened the door for me in less than thirty seconds. “A little excited to see me now are we?”

He laughed and ushered me into the house. “Soda, I presume.”

“It’s as if you read my mind.” I joked. “So what’s so important that you just had to let me know?”

He brought my soda over and took a seat next to me. I made myself comfortable and propped my feet onto the sofa underneath me.

“I told Jake.” He said.

My brows furrowed. “Told him what exactly?”

“My feelings.” He said playing with the bottle situated in his lap.

“Wait a second. Rewind and pause.” I said sitting up straight. “Now start from the beginning.”

“Jake was in an accident last week and I went to go see him.”

“He was in an accident? How? What happened?” this was news. No one mentioned anything about this at school.

Skye nodded. “Something to do with his brakes. Anyway, Sam forced me to go to the hospital and Jake looked like he wanted to beat me up with his IV.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at that. I saw Skye’s expression and my laughing ceased. “Sorry, go on.”

“Anyway, I told him I wasn’t going to leave until I said what I needed to. he still wouldn’t listen to me, so before I left, I told him that I loved him.”

“You did? What did he say? Did he forgive you? Is everything okay now?” I asked happily.

“It’s not as easy as that Hailey.” He said while he played with his fingers. “I left. I couldn’t stand there and wait for his reaction. I was scared so I bailed.”

“Why Skye? What if that was your chance to get him back.” I asked.

He said nothing and just looked down. I felt a question building up inside me.

“Do you even wanthim back Skye?”

“I said I love him didn’t I?” he said.

“Yea, but do you want him back. Do you want you guys to get back together again?”

“Yes, I do.” He finally admitted. “But it’s not like he’ll take me back though. I cheated on him Hailey. Even though I didn’t mean to, cheating is still cheating. Irrespective of the circumstances.”

“But maybe he forgot?” I tried.

The look Skye gave me was, well expected. “Maybe he forgot? Are you insane? Of course he remembers! He made it very clear the other day at the hospital.”

“Okay, okay, dumb thought. Jeez, you don’t have to go all crazy and shit.”

“Change of topic, what brings you here?” he asked. “I thought you said you were staying at Blake’s house till later tonight.”

“I was planning to, but then something came up.” I said turning my gaze away from Skye.

“Which is?” he asked leaning closer.

“Nothing really.” I said trying to make it sound like it was actually nothing. “Just me saying that I love him, by accident.”

He was silent before a big goofy grin spread across his face. “You love him and you told him? Wow, so what did he say?”

“I don’t think he heard me and I grateful for that.” I saw the look on his face so I started to explain. “You see, I didn’t want him to think of me as some sappy, hopeless romantic. I didn’t mean to say it so soon either. It just…came out.”

“Oh, but what are you going to do now?”

“I’m working on avoiding him.”

“You can’t do that. You’re dating, it’s going to be pretty difficult to do considering the fact that you see each other every day.”

“You think I don’t know that? Just let me get my story straight and then I’ll figure out what I should do. My dad is also on my case about me dating something that he hasn’t met yet.”

“So your dad wants to meet Blake?”

“Yes, unfortunately.” I ran my fingers through my hair. “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

“Hailey, listen to me.” Skye said putting his hands on my shoulders. “Tell Blake how you really feel. Because if you’re running away, won’t that be the pot calling the getting black? Where your dad’s involved, he kind of has a right to see if Blake is the right guy for you. So take baby steps. Just hope that all goes well in the end.”

“Thanks Skye.” I said before standing up. “I really have to go now. My parents are probably wondering where I am.”

He nodded and led me to the door. “See you at school tomorrow.”

I smiled and stepped outside. Skye was right. I couldn’t keep running away from Blake like this. Whether I liked it or not, it was going to catch up with me. I just hope Blake will see me as the same person, and not leave me because I was honest. All I had to do was hope for the best; he might even feel the same way about me. If that wasn’t hoping for too much.

A/N: Soooo what did you guys think??

the whole thingy with Hailey and Blake...it was a distraction?? they don't have enough POV's in the story anyway...as well as Paul...

And since i realised that throughout the whole story i never really gave Paul a last name, so Paul Jeffreys...kinda sounds nice, doesn't it ;)

hope you guys liked it.. :D

once again, please don't forget to vote, comment, like etc :))

much love...Carrie <3 <3
