ayyyy hello

-----

Black.

You had never experienced such an intense darkness.

Am I dead?

You weren't quite sure.

How long has it been?

Hours?

Days even?

You very much didn't want to be dead, you wanted life. Even if it was hard, you wanted to live, experience all the things you had wanted to experience. You wanted to get out of school, get a respectable job, let your mother take a break.

You wanted to feel happiness, sadness, stress, frustration, love.

You wanted to see the boys, even Yoongi's scowling visage would make you so happy now. You had not realised how close they had all become to you.

But all you had

was

black.

"I wouldn't be so quick to give up my dear".

You frowned, you knew that voice. The small voice of hope that had carried you through this entire ordeal, the voice that was perhaps the only thing keeping you going at times.

"Are you the lady from the library?", you asked the darkness quietly, curiously.

She appeared slowly, just a silvery shadow at first, but gradually becoming more and more solid, until she was there, smiling at you. Looking more closely at her, she seemed so incredibly familiar to you. Her long hair was silver, and tied in an elegant topknot. Despite her age, she stood tall and regal with assertion and confidence.

She approached you slowly, taking in every detail about you, her mouth curved upwards in delight and relief.

"Well done y/n", she grasped your hand gently, her eyes twinkling. "You did it, you stopped her".

"Who are you?", you blurted, she gave you her usual knowing glance.

"Eunha wasn't the only sibling who could regenerate you know, powers are quite often familial", she informed you softly.

The final piece of the puzzle slotted into place, and the picture was finally, after so long, completely clear to you. You parted your mouth slightly in understanding, sighing slowly and blissfully. No more mysterious people.

"Dae-in", you breathed slowly, she nodded in affirmation, eyes crinkled with an emotion you couldn't quite read. Pride? Love? A hint of bittersweet sadness.

The pieces continued to fall into place in your mind.

"That's why the library didn't know about the book", you widened your eyes in realisation. She grinned, her wrinkles deepening as she waved her hand, making a small sofa appear out of nowhere. It was light blue, and appeared to be made from velvet.

Nice taste. The thought erupted giddily in your mind, making you laugh slightly at the absurdity of thinking of such an offhand comment in a situation such as this.

"I didn't want to take my younger form, for fear I'd be recognised", she explained, perching herself down on the soft material. You noticed she sat in the same elegant, upright way as Eunha did, but rather than being intimidating, she made it appear warm and welcoming. She gestured for you to sit, and you obliged. Her voice was the same, encouraging, comforting.

"I think, it's time you knew the rest of the story, don't you agree? I believe you deserve to know, you've been in the dark for quite some time", she murmured.

"The night of the fire, Taemin came to meet me as I requested", she started off, folding her hands neatly in her lap.

"However, he informed me that Eunha was already extremely suspicious of him, despite her belief that I was messing around with one of her boys, and he told me that she had demanded that he attend to her that night, and he was already taking a risk coming here for a few minutes", she took a slow breath.

"I begged him to come with me anyway, that we would hide, we would make it work, I loved him more than words could ever describe, and the thought of him not coming with me was tearing me apart.

It was agony to him too, but he promised me that it would be ok, he would come after us the following morning, once Eunha believed I was dead. But deep down, both of us knew that this would be the last time we would see each other".

You felt a tear rolling down your cheek at the raw, quiet emotion in her voice. She smiled at you, and took your hand once more.

"I was right, he died in the fire, and I gave birth to a little boy, not a girl as I expected, he would have been ecstatic", she laughed sadly. "I hid myself and my son far away, I wanted to give him a life that would never be tainted by my dark family", she looked up at you with sorrow in her eyes.

"It wasn't my son, but still my descendant that my past came back to haunt and for that y/n my love, I am so sorry".

"It's ok", you mumbled, trying to hold in your tears at Dae-in's story. You cleared your throat roughly. "What happens now?".

"Well", she hummed thoughtfully. "There's only one thing for you left to do my dear, and that is to wake up".
