Colet's POV

"Maybe I should get a boyfriend." Sheena said out of nowhere.

We are sitting here at the school's cafeteria. Enjoying our food.

"Don't fool yourself! We all know that you're into girls." Mikha replied while tuning her guitar.

Well, that's why we became friends. We prefer girls more than boys and our family have nothing against it. We got scared when the school community knew about our gender identity but surprisingly, they accepted us wholeheartedly. Girls started doing grand gestures to call for our attention. This may sounds crazy but guys find it cool and challenging, so, they end up making an extra effort to court or be close to us. Irritating, though.

"Come on! I'm bored, I just wanna try something new." Sheena smiled sheepishly that made Maloi laugh.

"Stupid! What happened to your changed woman of God?" I said while casually looking at the people passing by.

"Sis, people change and feelings fade." Sheena replied dramatically. I rolled my eyes and throw my candy on her. I can't with this kid and her childish behavior.

"Shh! Look who's coming!" Maloi said excitedly while pointing to the doubled door cafeteria.

I look at where she's pointing and I saw her.
She's wearing our school uniform. Her shinny long black hair is swaying as she walks her way to the counter. She's all smiles. What a view!

"She's really pretty!" Mikha said unbelievingly.

"Yeah." Wtf? I was not supposed to say that out loud!

"Uhuh" agreed by Sheena. I look at Maloi and saw her jaw dropping. I jokingly throw my chips  inside her mouth which made her back to reality. We all laugh in unison.

"What's her name?" I casually asked. Trying to sound like I'm not that interested.

"Dude aren't you paying attention yesterday? She's Stacey from Grade 10, transferee from our sibling school. A total kikay, look at those hair clips. It suits her!" Maloi told me.

Stacey? Yep, she's fine but I'm asking about the girl next to her. The taller one. I only agreed to Mikha's statement awhile ago because I thought she was talking about the girl accompanying Stacey.

"Uh, how about the girl beside her?" I simply asked. The three of them looked at me with wide smiles. Oh no.

"I don't know. But I'm pretty sure she's not your cup of tea. That girl has small eyes while Keith, your ex has a big dark eyes." Mikha replied.

I nodded. She's right with the latter anyway.
I scanned my social media accounts and casually read random posts. The school's confession page got my attention.

Vergara, marry me! - JnK, Grade 7

Sheena, Colet, Maloi, and Mikha, wife me up!!! - N, Grade 10

creepy af.

Hi, Stacey! - Maloi, Grade 11

Wtf? I showed the post to Maloi. Sheena and Mikha jokingly punched her.

"The heck are you doing? You didn't even try to hide your name!" I told her.
"I was just greeting her." she replied, her eyes are still on Stacey.

"What a simp!" that's Mikha but I saw her too, eyeing the girl.

Later on, the unknown girl got up and Stacey followed her. We still have 30 minutes before our first period, what's with the rush?

Maybe because Grade 10 doesn't have the same schedule as ours? And why do I care? Stupid, Colet.

I heard Na Na Na played on speaker. Oh, the school broadcasting team.

"You are listening to Bini's hit song, Na Na Na. It's 2nd day of school, I hope you're all doing just fine. This is Jhoanna Robles of broadcasting team. Have a great day ahead!"

I haven't heard that name yet, she must be a newbie. I have to admit, her voice is clear and strong. She can be an excellent reporter.

I didn't notice that our afternoon classes has ended. I decided to visit Coach Jaz and the team.

"Colet, what's brought you here?" Coach said while approaching me.
"Nothing, Coach. I'm just here to watch the tryout." I replied.
"I see, the freshmen are warming up. The badminton team is still using the court, they have tryouts too." Coach Jaz. I nodded.

I stood here waiting patiently. I let my eyes wander around the gym.

I can see familiar faces. Some ex varsities helping for the tryouts and some current varsities. Others might be freshmen.

Then, I saw her. She's wiping her sweat. Beside her is her duffel bag, pink tumbler, and her badminton racquet.

I saw Stacey approaching her.
"Jhoanna! How's the tryouts?" she asked. The girl look at her and chuckled.
"Oh, Hi! I think it went well. I'm tired, let's grab an ice cream after this."

So, Jhoanna is the name.
Isn't she the same girl from the broadcasting team? The girl behind that voice earlier?

What a talent and beaut— WTF!?

Little did I know, I made an indecisive decision.

"Coach, I'll play volleyball this academic year."
