The coldness of my heart doesn't compare to the coldness of this room right now.

I wake up and shiver, my living conditions aren't exactly the greatest. I have to sleep on the floor on an older mattress because mother doesn't like spending money on useless "things". I remove the thin quilt from off of me and get up to stretch. As I stretch, I can feel my body getting more and more weak with every passing day, everything on my body hurts for hours upon hours sometimes.

It feels like I'm withering away into the void of nothingness.

Since I wake up at 5:00 am I give myself two hours before most people in the pack wake up, so that I can at least clean myself up and make breakfast. I go out back to wash off, my mother doesn't allow me to shower if I do, I'm punished. I don't know why my family hates me so much, if I knew what I did I'd apologize.

When I'm done washing myself off, I shake to get the access water off, which doesn't really work. I run back into my house so no one see's me naked and while being as quiet as I can so that no one in my house wakes up. I put on some clothes (outfit in media) which the Alpha lets me have, he occasionally buys me clothes and ask how I'm doing which is very sweet of him. Mother can't take the clothes he buys away from me which pisses her off because then he would ask questions as to why I couldn't wear them, and she hated when people bombarded her with questions especially if it was about me. I am allowed to wash my clothes but that is only to make my family seem less suspicious, if it was up to Mother and Father, I'd be sleeping in a dog crate and slaving after them 24/7.

Mother has convinced everyone that I'm a very dirty and lazy person, so she was forced to make me cook and clean for the pack to learn "wellness" as she puts it, so that no one suspects anything not even the alpha. I guess the Luna sensed that something was off with my family but died before she could do much about it.

The Luna died a year ago from a rogue attack, she died protecting the children who were at the pack house that day. He said that she told him to look after me and her son of course while she was dying in his arms. It must've been extremely painful to lose a mate like that, I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone, he has never really been the same sense that day, but he still does try to put a smile on his face and cheer everyone up if they needed it.

I do miss the Luna, she was sweet and would do anything she could for me, but I just never got a chance to tell her the truth about what has been going on because truthfully, I am just too scared to tell anyone.

As I finish getting ready, I put my hair in a low ponytail that I wear all the time and go to the main pack house to make breakfast. I make pancakes, bacon, eggs and French toast sticks for the people who are obviously not going to be able to eat breakfast at school, so basically the Adults.

The pack is on its own private plot of land almost like a mini city that the government thinks is a reserve. I guess we have been here long enough that they would think that. We have our own schools (elementary/middle school and high school), hospital, farms, homes, a park with a beautiful pond, and other things as well. The main pack house is where people all congregate and have celebrations, the Alphas office is there too which is usually locked along with the cells in the basement, from listening around, it takes a very long time to get to the cells because it is very far underground, and it is very heavily guarded.

The Alpha, Luna, and their children have a really fancy home with the Beta and 3RD in command living close by in other fancy homes with their mate and children.

Must be nice.

It's now 13 minutes till 7:00, I put all the food in the middle of the table and wait there till Alpha Daniel comes down to tell me I can go.

My birthday is tomorrow, I've been thinking about this day since I was 10.

When you turn 17 as a werewolf you get a mate, first shift and you get to meet your wolf. I hope I get lucky in the mate department; I haven't had much luck in my life, I just want this one thing to go right. I remember wishing every single night for that day to go my way, knowing my luck it won't.

Alpha Daniel comes down from his office right on time like he does every day and smiles, I of course smile back, I can't afford to get on the Alpha's bad side. He looks at me and says, "you are free to go to school Lela."

"Thank you, Alpha" I replied. "No thank you for these French toast sticks" he cheered happily as he sat down to eat them". "No problem". I said quickly and grabbed my backpack "do you need a ride to school?" Alpha Daniel asked. "No, it's fine I like the walk" I boasted even though that was a complete lie because the high school is it's at the very end of our small city and my feet hurts every time, I just think that car ride would be too awkward for me.

I walk away from the kitchen with my backpack and out the door I went for another day of hell.

If things in later chapters look confusing it's because everything is being updated from chapter one, I will remember to put the dates so that you can keep track of them.

But the book will still have the same endings just longer in-depth chapters with more and better character development.
