"Thought to let you all live a few moments of leisure but alas you never deserve it. What did you think about charging me could stop me to raze you Chandras."

His gray voice terrified her. She shakingly kept her mobile to a distance and let out an inaudible gasp in shock. To say she was anxious now could be an understatement. Her whole body had frozen and quivered due to terror with the thoughts of his erratic threat.

The number of charges sued on a common man was enough for him to remain locked up for months but conceding the power and connections, his granted bail in a few days and this threat calls were not a fright after all and were foreseen by her.

(In India, rape arrests are unbailable. Just for the movement of the story, I changed it a little.)

She couldn't accept her downfall without striving. She couldn't let him move after what he did to her and Sneha. She must never step back. She wanted rectitude. And never once she would let her inner unrest be noticed by him.

He was just a low creature.

She took a deep breath and brought her mobile close to her ear and despite her current appal, she let out a humourless chuckle just with an intent to irritate him and retorted back with no trace of worry evident in her voice.

"Tsk..tsk..alas our babu saheb didn't like his new home." When she received a long stretch of silence from the other end, her mouth curved into a smile, filled with mockery.

"Oh, this much you got horrified being around those four walls. By the way, let me remind you- I am not scared of anyone and will definitely not tolerate you or your hostility. So talk to me with utter respect or never dare to contact me."

He gritted his teeth in anger and pressing lips together firmly. His eyes blazed with rage and nostrils flared at the audacity of that woman.

"You will not be spared."

He muttered in a low, deep yet promising voice that stilled her for a second with dismay.

Knowing his potentials and past deeds, a concern cross her face undoubtedly. She gritted her teeth in bitterness.

"This conversation can be recorded. Don't say something, you will regret it later. Oh god, You are already into much trouble now. As an old friend keep this suggestion and don't turn things worse for yourself."

She continued her statement with a try to keep every emotion at the bay because he was an ancestry of the dementor. He shall use every emotion of his prey for exploitation.

"I hope you mesmerised the four walls of the cell very well because this is going to be your residence for your upcoming years or maybe."

"So much overconfidence is not good for your health. At least wait for the trials to start."

She rolled her eyes with a sneer. She couldn't believe the amount of composure he had for trials. He sure was cooking something in his wicked deceit brain. She concluded.

"Transfer your business on my name, every life can be skimped on."

"You are definitely dumb to underestimate me with Sneha. Still, a mentally challenged person should not be despised this much and at the end, I must proclaim..."

The company was the fruitful result of her father's and uncle's hard labour. She could not let such devilish hands anywhere near it. And divulging such a foul tongue was indeed was a piece of stupidity.

She clenched her jaw at his arbitrary demand. Her expression hardened when she replied in an angry authoritative voice with a sense of finality.

"This is neither your father's property nor I have any plan to distribute the company's share to some roadside beggars under the name of some charity. Someone must burst the imperial imaginary bubble."

He let out fits of laughter, hearing her response. It irked her more when her words didn't affect him, even a bit.

"You speak too good. Hope I had time to hear your drivel. I must surmise with your talk, Sneha never talked about me to you. Never mind we will some evening with a few sips of tea discuss my proficiency."

He chuckled and spoke in such a tone as if they were two good friends for years.

She grimaced at how she could trust such a spineless person blindly.

"For now, I give you an hour, do as I say or be inclined to endure the casualties."

Her eyes widened at his words in terror. Before she could speak something, the call was cut off. She hurriedly tried to connect to him with that unknown number again panicky but it went unanswered.

After a few attempts, she kept the phone aside frustratedly. Her eyes darted around her office in the scare and nervousness while thinking about the possible measures before any casualty.

He can not do any. She would never let it happen. Though his words could be empty yet prevention had been always better than cure.

She picked up her mobile and dialled the number of the only reliable person at that moment. The police commissioner of the city.

"Hello sir, I have been receiving blackmails."

As soon as the call was answered, she notified him anxiously, ignoring the customary greet.

"It was predicted. Send me the number, we shall track his location and don't worry. With the news of his bail, The police protection around Chandra house is raised."

She nodded in agreement but somewhere the piece of information was not giving her a slight relief. The notion of the unknown had now settled in her mind.

"Whatever you want to do you can. How much money you want I will feed you but know no harm should fall upon my family anyhow. Make sure of it, officer."

She tried to explain her statement clear and vivid with severity in demeanour but miserably failed. Her voice was pleasing and sounded helpless.

She didn't know why It was like someone was squeezing her heart and even her breathing and heartbeat rate increased after that threat call in fright.

She cut the call and hid her face behind her palms and let out a yelp in agony. Why was it happening to her? It seemed now she was not able to breathe properly.

It felt like a premonition.

A knock on the door broke her solitude. Radhika took a few deep breaths to calm herself, meanwhile wiped the tears with hankie.

She tried to make herself understand, she was just overreacting to the situation. Nothing bad could happen.

Norah entered inside after heeding an almost inaudible answer.

She frowned at her flushed face and teary and puffy eyes but resisted herself from commenting anything, analysing her master's unpredictable mood these days.

"What is the update?"

She commanded in a grim voice. It broke the trace of Norah's thoughts, trying to figure the aloofness in her master's behaviour these days.

She promptly nodded and opened her iPad to get a view of the updates of work.

"The newly launched appal has grabbed more attention among youngsters. Though a few complaints are received regarding the poor colour, fabrics and damaged products. Our management team is working over the issues faced."

She notified her though Radhika remained in her own world and when Norah turned her side with an expectation of any response, she just nodded and gestured her to speak further. She hesitantly nodded and continued further. However, doubted even if her words were heard carefully.

"The photoshoot for summer batch is settled before expected. Tuval madam has already selected the pictures and It needs your approval now."

This time too, she received no response from her side, she coughed a little that luckily grabbed her attention. Radhika looked at her with quite evident confusion.

"She has mailed them yesterday."

Radhika ashamedly nodded and pressed the power button to bring life to her laptop.

"I was busy. Thus couldn't check it. I shall oversee them in an hour and confirm."

She didn't have to explain anything to anyone, yet she did. She took a deep sigh and massaged her forehead lightly. Silently screaming her mind to concentrate on the works.

"How is our work with Rathore is going?"

She questioned in a low tone, while she looked at the window display of her laptop before it started over.

Norah nodded and buried her head inside her device screen and after retrieving the desired data, her gaze met with her indifferent ones.

"For now, this franchise merge is beneficial. The demands have increased. In a few months, the revenue of our company has increased by 2.75% in..."

"Are you okay? You are looking so tired."

Radhika was still lacking her attention and it made Norah ask about her well being, despite several internal resistances.

"I am.....I am going home. Inform me once my presence is required."

She wanted to continue her work but abruptly stop and agreed as it was best for her to take a rest after the morning cognitive assault.

She mentally grimaced at how her actions would give a negative impact on her employees when she continued taking days off, neglecting her work and today was returning back only an hour after her arrival.

She heaved a sigh tiredly and stood up from her chair. She was not getting peace between those four walls and wanted to rush somewhere as far as possible, away from every mess, in search of some solace.

She exited the building and moved toward her car at the parking lot. Before she drove, she decided to call Sneha once to ensure everyone's well being.

She nibbled her lower lips with the tension surrounding her. Luckily the call was answered in one ring.

"Is everyone at home?"

Before anything, she shot her question which confused Sneha.

"Hmm. Except for chote papa along with papa went somewhere 10 minutes ago, stating some legal work had to be done."

This made Radhika more worried about their security and after that threat, she had become skittish about every happening around.

"Don't worry a fraction of police squad followed their car for protection."

Sneha guessed her insecurities, she instantly tried to make her understand but somewhere she knew how low that man could stoop. She had tried to stop them to go outside, at least till the start of trials but they, on the pretext of an unavoidable important work, went out with nothing but an assurance to return soon. Anyways, She just prayed them a safe return.

Despite her assurance, Radhika was alarmed and the bad feelings rushed her side with twofold force.

"Why did they have to go?" She muttered tensely and a bit accusingly.

"Is everything already?"

Sneha frowned at her cousin's strange behaviour. Noone couldn't get hyper over anything unnecessarily.

"Of course. What is there to go wrong?"

Radhika tried to calm herself but her voice left her support. Even her fake chuckle of confidence was more than enough to feel the amount of pain the owner had.

"You are hiding something."
Sneha retorted with seriousness laced in a complaining voice.

"Just call them and instruct to return as soon as possible."

Radhika ignored her question and gave her an instruction which looked nothing but a pleading. Before she could query anything further, she cut the call.

She kept her mobile on the car cabinet and settled on the driving seat. For a few minutes, her head remained pressed against the steering wheel and unknowingly tears slid down her cheeks one after another. She wanted to control them, prevent them and stop having these gloomy feelings.

But she couldn't. It seemed she had lost every control over her emotions.

Her mind was not allowing her to think rationally. She even didn't know the reason behind her distress. It felt someone had kept the weight on her chest. It constricted and pained.

Was it because of that threat call?

Or the fear of any harm?

Suddenly her phone pinged. She gradually wiped the tears in the pallu of her saree. And opened the message inbox to check the possibility of an important notification.

A gift on the way...

She repeatedly blinked eyelids with a frown, trying to clear her blurry vision and understand the meaning behind those words.

With a second of freeze, she promptly tried to call his number. What was he planning now? Whatever was it she couldn't let it happen anyhow...

"Nooooo...pick up call...pick it up damn it...."

She yelped in agony when the calls went unanswered. She instantly decided to call Gautam and ask them to return at that instant.

Before she could dial his number, Sneha's caller id appeared at the screen.

She kept all her negative thought decided to answer her call, though it was a hesitated move.

"Ch..hoti..they met with an aa..cci..den.t on the h..highw..w.ay. Pl..ease come fast..."

But her shuttered voice filled with anguish broke every ounce of patience and composure. Radhika's vision turned blurring with surfacing tears. She squeezed shut her eyes, not believing it actually happened to her.

She phone slid from her grip and Her sobs intensified with the thoughts of how she couldn't save her fathers. Suddenly the closed atmosphere of the car started suffocating her. Her life started suffocating her.

What did she negotiate against their lives?

The company? Was that even worth it? For her love for materialistic things, she let him play with their lives.

Horrible!!

What a daughter she was!

More than anyone she felt disgusted with herself. She could have saved them. Luckily, they had enough fortune for their entire lives and three potential daughters.

How could love for the company overlap her love for her fathers?

She felt that it was not he but she who attempted to kill them. She started feeling like a murderer.

She let out an inaudible gasp and squeezed shut her eyes at the possibility. When did she be a murderer?

She gradually brought her shivering hands in front of her eyes which were covered with blood. How could it? She never killed anyone. It was just an accident she knew they would be fine after the necessary treatment.

Her mind tried to make her understand that everything was fine but her heart was not even ready to accept it. Everything felt like an utter lie to her now.

She exited outside her car due to sudden suffocation. She looked around and found every person around her pointing his finger. They laughed and mocked her being such a disgrace to be a daughter who didn't save her fathers due to her avarice.

She shook her head in denial and cried out shouting she never did anything. She could never. She had always loved them.

But more she denied, more the voices intensified. She put palms on her ear pinna to block her ears but they just increased. Ultimately with a defeat, she ran in no particular direction. Away.....Away from everything.

Like a coward.

"Arrey madam walk carefully."

She shockingly looked at the biker, who had yelled when Radhika unknowingly step in his way and about to hit his vehicle.

She looked at him dumbfounded. For now, the only voices that echoed in her mind quoted she was a murderer. She killed the persons who brought her in this world and who always caressed her like a princess.

The tears were profusely shedding. He looked at her as a physco case and after muttering something under his breath, he turned the direction of his bike when she never moved.

When, how, why she didn't know. She just went where her feet took her. And as notorious the city's weather was, it unknowingly had turned from a sunny morning to drizzling rain.

She didn't want to go anywhere. Or was fearful of the news that waited for her?

Would she go to the hospital? She didn't have the gut to approach them after what she did. She felt miserable.

It was just 10' O clock in the morning but the sky was covered with clouds as dark as her life, yet gave a twilight view.

Occasionally the thunderstorm played hid and seek with the mother earth who eagerly sought her emancipation.

Liberation for the tremendous outrage of Surya devta.

Granting the wishes of many beings flourishing in her womb, the rainfalls finally kissed the soil and graced the lives.

Some people ran here and there in search of the shed while some crazy young hearts enjoyed the first shower of the monsoon wide open arms.

Radhika felt overwhelmed at the beauty of nature. She even doubted had she even acknowledged rain this much before. She unhurriedly stretched out her arms and turned her face upwards, for it could substitute her pain. Her tears mixed with the divine drops of rainfall.

Despite the beauty and divinity, Radhika somehow felt the universe too cried on her misery.

She was drenched in rain completely. She didn't even have any desire for anything. She still felt sinister for even that heavenly bliss couldn't purify her or reduce her guilt. Even a bit.

After minutes of being in her rain, her body shivered but it was not enough for her to seek a shed sideways. It didn't feel good yet it also had no bad impression on her.

A lady around 40 noticed her standing in rain for more than half an hour. And at last, when mothery instinct kicked in and she couldn't witness her careless about her health and evil eyes that ravished her body, she dragged her under a bus shed where she was before standing, waiting for her bus that was delayed for an hour or so due to scrambled traffic in heavy rain.

Radhika was pulled as she was as light as a piece of paper. Or maybe because she had no energy to argue or resist any force.

"Are you fine beta? Heavy rainfall is predicted today... Make sure to reach home on time. You do have a place to live na?" The lady confusingly asked after analysing her state.

She looked very miserable. She didn't even utter a word or gave a response to any voice, despite her every effort. Even her tears had left her companionship.

What an unlucky fellow she was!

The lady worriedly looked at Radhika who had occupied her seat now. Anyhow she remained emotion void, staring at a corner.

The lady offered her lunch box for her to eat which she avoided. Even the offer for a sip of water was ignored by her. Her was in her own realm.

When the time of her bus arrival was near, she worriedly looked at Radhika. Neither she was reacting nor answering any of her questions.

She sighed in tiredly at the what test her god had put them into?

It felt wrong to either take that helpless woman with her or leave her here when she was not even in her proper sense.

She bent to her level and affectionately put a hand on her shoulder.

"There is a woman shelter home on 1km distance to the left of the square. You can go there or If you are okay...I can drop you there."

The horn of her arrived bus grabbed her attention and when she didn't get any reply, she decided to get on the bus, which was actually the last bus for her destination.

She wished the woman actually had heard her and would take shelter. She even decided to repeat the details and after patting her head a little, she went away.

Slowly the crowd dispersed with time. She was silent, lost in her world and unwilling to face reality. She needed a pullback.

She sought an escape.

She never realised when she lost her consciousness. But when she has gained her alertness, she was a local NGO shelter for the helpless woman.
