Adena sighed, she felt like such an idiot. Her trip was going so well. She had quite a few prospects, she found Raymond, Donatella was even impressed and loved his work. Craig came and surprised her.

Craig came and surprised her. She hates surprises, usually. This definitely made up for her disastrous birthday.

Craig flew thousands of miles to see her because he couldn't wait just a couple more days.

It was the perfect weekend and now it was all unraveling.

"Yes, I'm so so sorry. I should've called you earlier. I had to leave to go back to New York a little early so we'll have to postpone our brunch meeting. I assure you though Donatella says you have great potential. I'll get back to you about rescheduling, we'll have to do a Skype or Zoom instead. Ok? Ok, Raymond, talk to you soon" she said and hung up immediately. She hung up just in time because her vomit didn't care if she was on an important phone call or not. She dropped her phone on the floor, turned around, and threw right up in the toilet.

There was no point in going back to bed because she kept having to get up. She basically lay on the bathroom floor.

Since California was 3 hours behind, everyone on the East Coast had already started their day and they all decided to call at the most inconvenient time.

"You feeling any better?" Craig asked as he peeked into the bathroom.

"I don't know," Adena said as she shook her head and flushed the toilet.

"I got you something to take but you gotta eat something. I ordered room service."

Just thinking about eating right now made her nauseous. Her actual flight was in a few hours, she didn't want to feel this way while on a 7-hour flight. "I'm never drinking again."

"You just gotta work on your tolerance that's all. You're a lightweight."

"I've never thrown up as much as I have the past couple of months, ever," she said with an annoyed chuckle.

"Sure," Craig said, pretending not to believe her. "At least eat the soup, try holding your nose?"

The anti-nausea medication worked somewhat but since it was very windy, it wasn't a smooth ride. Thankfully there were 2 restrooms on the plane because she was in there for almost half the flight. Also, unfortunately for her, they had a layover in DC, which added an hour to their trip. It was torture having to go from one side of the airport to the other. She got so tired that she bought herself some Benadryl hoping she could take a nap at least.

However, she took more than a nap.

When she woke up, she thought they were still on the plane or at least at the airport. She was surprised to find herself tucked into her bed. She sat up in bed slowly with a confused expression on her face. She reached over and turned on the lamp.

"Hey, there sleepyhead," Craig said as he peeked in the doorway. Adena looked up and smiled with relief when she saw him. "You alright?" She nodded. "You um scared me back there you know."

"I did?"

"Yeah I thought you were feeling better, we had just taken off from DC, you were giggling and talkative, no upchucks at all and then you just passed out. You were out cold, snoring even, and you refused to wake up-"

"I was not snoring! I don't snore!" she said as she covered her face as Craig lay next to her on the bed. He proceeded to embarrass her more by telling her that he could only wake her long enough to get her into a wheelchair so he can get her home. She didn't believe him, he knew she wouldn't, so he showed her the video he had of her on his phone. "I can't believe you did that! You have to erase that, right now!"

"What happened? Were you faking? How did you get so tired?" he asked, half concerned because she did scare him for a second there.

"I didn't tell you? I took Benadryl at the airport?"

"When?!"

"At the DC airport, at the little convenience shop, then I went to the bathroom-"

"You lied to me! You said you were just going to the bathroom!" he said with a laugh. He picked up one of the many pillows on her bed and threw it at her. Soon a cute pillow fight ensued. "Oh look who's better now," Craig said as she maneuvered herself on top of him, straddled him, and proceeded to hit him with 2 pillows. "Ok! Ok, I give up! I surrender" he said while blocking his face.

"Ok I win," she said with a smile, leaning forward to kiss him.

"SKKKKRT" Craig said as he put a finger to her mouth. "Have you brushed your teeth?"

Typical Capricorns are likely to be less robust than most when they are young and their resistance to disease increases with age.

Since Adena woke up in better spirits she thought the worst was over but sure enough, she felt like absolute shit the next day. She had to leave the Benadryl alone and deal with it. You wouldn't know it by looking at her when she walked into work on Monday morning. She didn't have a choice.

"I expect you to be here on Monday morning just like any other Monday. I don't care if you have jet lag. You gotta get used to it. This is the life of an art dealer" Donatella had said to her.

With greater power comes greater responsibilities.

However, if she truly caught another bug, she didn't want to infect the whole gallery. So during her lunch break, she was able to squeeze in a visit to her doctor.

At least she thought, she only had an hour for lunch and she had to get back because she had her Skype call with Raymond. However, that hour was spent waiting, in the waiting room and in the examination room. She had to leave without seeing the doctor at all. She was in a bad mood and irritated when she got back to work, she didn't have time to eat, which didn't help the situation.

A couple of days later, she had to suck it up and go to an Urgent Care after she clocked out of work. She couldn't waste another lunch hour. However, since she did some overtime, she didn't get there until 8 pm. Thankfully, the place was practically empty so she didn't have to wait too long.

But still, long enough. She sighed as she looked at her watch. She just wanted them to hurry up and tell her what kind of cold she had so she can take the proper medications for it. She was busier now more than ever and she was damn tired.

The doctor finally came in and they did a few tests to rule everything out and soon she was waiting again. Was she dying? Was there a disease in the family that her parents never told her about? Did she have cancer? She started to cry as she sat there waiting for the doctor. Why was she so emotional?

She just wanted to know now.

Finally, the doctor came in, "Finally."

"Hello Ms. Capricorn," the doctor said, ignoring her comment, "How are you feeling?"

"I don't know. You tell me. That's why I'm here" she said to him frankly. Cut the small talk, just get on with it.

The doctor smiled, which surprised her. "Well, there's no need to worry. No diseases, you're going to be fine and..."

Adena sighed with relief as he said that. Her phone vibrated and it was Craig calling again. She ignored it. She'll have to call him back after she dealt with this.

"...now I know this is unexpected but I'd be happy to go over your options on how you would like to proceed if you'd like or I'll just get in touch with your PCP and fill them in and they can go over those options with you."

"Options? What are you talking about?" she asked him. The call distracted her and once they said she was fine, she tuned them out. "Just what's the easiest to get over this? Can't you just put me on some antibiotics and I can be on my way?"

"Well, we can't put you on antibiotics, unless you would like to terminate but we don't do that here. I can give you information about the local clinics" the doctor said as they walked over to the counter and pulled a few brochures out. "You're still pretty early on so you can take your time in deciding but it's always safer to do it as soon as possible."

Adena looked at him confused as he gave her the brochures. She looked at the first one and gasped. "Wait...what? I thought I just had a cold?"

"You're not sick. You are expecting Ms. Capricorn, you are pregnant" the doctor said to her.

Adena stared at him, "What?"

"You're pregnant, you are about 8 weeks along. You are expecting your first child" they said with a smile, but she started to cry. "Um...I apologize Ms. Capricorn I thought I made myself clear. Do you know the father of the child or do you need-"

"No, just leave me alone, please," she said in a confused panic. The doctor nodded and left.

How the hell was she pregnant? She and Craig had only just taken that step a few days ago. She hasn't had sex in months?? Has she even had sex at all this year? It was only March but still. 8 weeks? Just a couple of months ago, she and Taye fought more than they made love. She couldn't remember the last time they even had sex. 8 weeks? How? This must be a mistake. She needed a second opinion.

Then it hit her. She was really drunk one night, she drank a whole bottle of wine by herself waiting up for him while he was probably out with that Felicia tramp. She remembered passing out and then Taye waking her and then...

"What's gotten into you?" Taye asked her as he pulled away. He tasted the wine on her lips but she couldn't have had that much...?

"Nothing has gotten into me and you haven't gotten into me lately either. I miss you" she said as she started to unbutton his shirt and kissed him on the neck, "When was the last time we...?"

Fuck. "I don't know...but I'm guessing that's gonna change isn't it?" he asked her in shock. Holy shit. It was Dena! Dena was back!! She finally came back!!! The girl he married, the girl he fell in love with. Not Adena, the bossy, mother figure that was never satisfied. Oh God, he missed this! This was fucking sexy! He let her take his shirt off and she started to undo his belt. She let his pants slip to the floor. "Wait baby...it's your turn," he said as he pulled her close into a hug. He unzipped her dress as he hugged her and then let it drop. She wasn't wearing a bra but she was wearing a black lacy thong...and heels. Yes! Perfect.

He scooped her up and she laughed out loud. Very loud. "Baby shhh" he laughed. He laid down on top of her and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

"I'm sorry for everything...now I'm gonna make it up to you" she said.

He kissed her, even though he didn't know what she was apologizing for exactly. He was just really happy...really really happy...and hard about this. He kissed her passionately and then kissed down her neck, chest, stomach, and belly button and then slipped off her thong, but still left her heels on...

She replayed what she remembered of that night over and over in her mind. They didn't use a condom? Did it break? She wasn't on the pill because they made her really depressed. She really needed to stop drinking, that's how she got herself into this mess. Then the next morning, she made him admit to having an affair. That lipstick belonged to that bitch instead...

Adena continued to cry, so many emotions were running through her. What was she going to do? She was having her soon-to-be ex-husband's baby while she was just starting to explore something new with Craig. When he finds out, he wouldn't want her anymore. He was gonna leave. Why be with her now? Her body literally belonged to someone else. It was hosting her child, their child; her and Taye's child. She looked down at the brochures the doctor gave her and it was brochures about single parenting, planned parenthood, abortion clinics, counseling, and adoption. She always thought that when she finally got pregnant it would be the best day of her life. She would be crying tears of joy. She wouldn't need any of these brochures because she was going to keep the baby for sure.

But it was different now...it was all so different now...

Her goal was to have her first baby at 24, just like her mother had with her, and now she had gotten her wish.

But why like this?!

You gotta be careful what you wish for...

Capricorn's bodies are shaped depending on how well their musculature has been developed, if at all.

Once Adena calmed herself down, she took her brochures and went home. Her body was on autopilot and riding the subway home was a blur. She was in her own little world.

And her own little world was imploding and it was turned upside down.

She didn't eat dinner. She didn't have an appetite. She dropped her purse and coat on her bed, took off all her clothes, and ran a bath. She then sat there and soaked while she soaked in what was happening to her.

Her phone rang again and she knew it was Craig but she didn't know what to say to him. She had to tell him but how? When? As soon as she does, she can kiss him goodbye and more tears fell down her face at the thought. She couldn't lose him again. She couldn't bear it. Especially after they just took that big step. They had the most amazing sex she has had in a while...8 weeks to be exact. They didn't even get a chance to talk about it yet. What it meant for them. Were they friends with benefits now? Was it a mistake? Was it too soon? Would they chalk it up as a one-and-done before he walks out of her life? She didn't get to tell him how much she liked it, no how much she loved it, how thinking about it made her blush and smile and she found herself daydreaming about it a lot since Saturday night.

She was having a baby. There was a small, living, and breathing body living inside of her. The thought made her sick, but excited. She always wanted to have Taye's children. But it came at the worst of times. Great, now she was going to be alone and a single mother. Why would Craig want to be around Taye's child? He despised the man and would probably despise his seed even more.

Craig called back again and she put her phone on Do Not Disturb. She had to get her thoughts together. She decided to turn on some music and tried to relax. She tried to distract herself as she cleared out the notifications on her phone. One of them told her that over 300 people liked a selfie that she took with Craig while they were at the art event. Ohmygod, she just got promoted. She couldn't possibly take trips all over the country pregnant. She couldn't possibly take on more responsibility and more hours pregnant. Donatella would be disappointed. She would snatch her promotion away just as quickly as she gave it to her. How was she going to tell Donatella?

Her head started to hurt just thinking about it and she went back to looking at her social media to distract her. Then she saw a comment that caught her eye.

kimmadison: my my my you moved on quick

Adena sighed. Whose side was she on? She and Kim barely talked since the birthday party. She was still upset that she invited Taye of all people and her parents. She knew she hated surprise parties too, she didn't even apologize for any of that. Now all they did was like each other's pictures and posts. It was very awkward between the two of them now. It saddened her. She'll take the blame for part of it. Disappearing had her feel some type of way and once she found out that she was staying with 'the DJ' she probably got jealous that she ran to a stranger and not her bestie. By the looks of it, she was still jealous now.

At least with Missy, she knew where her loyalty lies. Kimberly? Not so much.

And it was pushing her further and further away.

She decided to ignore her comment but if things were like they used to be, Kim and Missy would be the first to know. They would both be godmothers. They would be so excited and happy for her.

What if she and Taye tried to work it out? Even after the Felicia fiasco. What if they went back to Dr. Osbourne and did some intense couples therapy? Now that she was pregnant, would it have kept them together, helped them get closer together, and made Taye fall back in love with her again? If she went back, would they finally have the happy family that she prayed for?

Was this a sign? Did she move on too quickly with Craig? Were they doomed from the start? Once he finds out, he'll leave and where will that leave her?

Should she call Taye? Will he forgive her once he finds out the baby is his? Will he grow up, man up and step up?

Or would it not change a thing?

If Taye didn't give a damn about them, should she get rid of it? Did she need to make a decision ASAP before Craig could even find out? Should she keep it from him? What he didn't know won't hurt him. What he didn't know won't hurt them.

What if they both didn't want to be with her? What if they both left her high and dry?

No matter what she chose. She had to make a huge sacrifice. Who was she letting go?

She couldn't keep all three of them. Someone had to go.

She stared at Taye's number and she stared at the 6 missed calls she got from Craig.

Which path was she supposed to take? Which would cause less damage, and less pain because she definitely had her full and she didn't know if she was strong enough to take another blow.

"Fuck it," she said and pressed call...
