"Your boss, I want a meeting with him." I said.

"Well, here's the thing Mr.Vigilante,-" Mr.Padder tried to adjust his position but I kept holding him down. "My boss doesn't 'do meetings'. And he doesn't take demands." he said.

"' The Kingpin' is going to meet with me." I demanded.

"He doesn't like it when people say his name." he replied. I slammed his head down again on the table. I became frustrated.

"Stop playing with me, Padder! I want 'The Kingpin'! You hear me, I want-"

Several guys rushed into the office. They all lined up and pointed their rifles at me. I picked Mr.Padder up, pointing him in front of me. I wrapped my arm around his neck, threatening to kill him.

"Don't you move!" I yelled. They didn't move, didn't say anything, just kept pointing their rifles at us.

"Don't you move. I'll snap his neck." I said. They didn't seem intimidated.

"Don't play with me! I'll do it!" I yelled, trying to intimidate them.

"They know Vigilante...they just don't care." Mr. Padder said.

I looked at them and I knew they were serious. There cold dead eyes, the plain look in their faces, there easy willingness to pull the trigger. I knew I had to do something.
Police sirens started to ringing. I could see the red & blue police lights radiating behind me. The cops were finally here. I peeked behind me, and I could see the police cars down below. I had to make a move, but it was a risky one.

With my arm around Mr.Padder's neck, I slowly moved it down around his chest. Click, BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG! The moment I moved, they started firing. I quickly turned and immediately jumped out of the window, with Mr.Padder in my arms. BOOM! We both came crashing down onto the hood of a police car. Still hurt, I quickly got up and took him off the hood. The commissioner started walking up to me.

"Take him, we have to go." I said. His officers started looking up, as Mr.Padder's goons started shooting down at us. Everyone ducked, as their assault rifles rained down on us. The commissioner grabbed Mr.Padder and put him in a cop car. I took off running as the cops pulled off.

I met with the commissioner later on at the police precinct. We talked on the roof.

"We got him, commissioner. We got him." I said, in a low and muffled voice.

"Yeah but, do you really think he can get 'The Kingpin' to come out of hiding?" he asked me.

"I don't really know, but we have to try." I told him. I tried to think of something we could use against him.

"The warehouse. Mr.Padder may have been stashing guns there. You have to send some of your officers over there." I told him.

"I already have a small unit heading back over there. If we can find any guns there, that's just more we can charge him with it." he told me.

"And if we bargen to drop the charges-"

"He just might agree to get us a meet." the commissioner finished.

Great, I thought to myself. After what happened on the docks, The Kingpin thought he had us. But after finding Mr.Padder, now we have the advantage. We'll make him get us a meet with Mr.Padder. The commissioner and I walked down to the second floor where they were holding Mr.Padder. As we walked through the door, some officers were staring at me as I followed him. I kept my head down so they wouldn't see my face. As we got close, an officer stepped out of the room where they were holding Mr.Padder. He quickly walked past us, keeping his head down. I glanced at the officer, he looked at me oddly as he passed me, but I kept my focus on Mr.Padder.

The commissioner and I stepped into the dark room. Mr.Padder was sitting at the wooden table with his hands cuffed down. There was a small lamp on the table. The commissioner sat down in front of him, while I stood in the far corner.

"I want my phone call." Mr.Padder's first words.

The commissioner opened his folder. "Fine, tell us where 'The Kingpin' is."

"My employer doesn't like to disclose his location." he replied.

"So you don't know where he is?" the commissioner asked.

"Well in retrospect commissioner, my employer can been in one location or even several."

We could tell he was playing with us. "We want The Kingpin, Padder." the commissioner said.

"Like I told your 'associate' here, my employer does not take demands, and will not agree to a formal meeting."

"We'll put you behind bars then." I said.

"With what substantial evidence?" Mr.Padder said. I looked at down at the commissioner and he knew as well as I knew, we truly had nothing on him, and The Kingpin.

"I mean over the last decade this city has begun to fall. Criminals have terrorized the streets, and with corrupt officers who fail to serve and protect, who can really defend us? And here comes this 'infamous unsung hero', who for some unknown reason feels the need to defend this city. He attempts to 'apprehend' this so-called 'crime kingpin', but he cannot prove such a myth is even nonfictional." Mr.Padder lectures. The commissioner and I glanced at each other, almost believing what he is saying.

"How do you know I am not 'The Kingpin'?" Mr.Padder says sarcastically, slightly giggling. "How do you even know he is even real?" He continues.

"Several crimes in this city have been tied to this mythical figure, but how? How do you know The Kingpin was even involved?" "Commissioner I am a genuine businessman, and there is nothing you can charge me with here." He says to the commissioner, then turns his attention to me.

"And as for you Vigilante, you have dug yourself into a pit you cannot climb out of. I must forewarn you. Please, do not pursue this any longer before it becomes, volatile." I snapped.

I dashed at him, and snatched him up by his collar. The table moved, and the lamp fell to the floor. The commissioner jumped out of his seat, trying to stop me but it was too late.

"This is not a game, Mr.Padder. I want you to deliver this message to your boss. Tell 'The Kingpin' I'm coming for him, and that there is nothing stopping me from bringing him to justice." I said, loud and clear. At that moment, my phone vibrated. I let him go, he flopped down in his chair. I went to the corner and checked it. I got a text, it was from Alex.

"I have to go." I said, storming out.

I got to class just in time. As I sat down in my seat, I can see Alex was upset with me. I knew we were going to have to talk, though I really didn't need it right now. As the bell rang, I tried to hurry out. Alex stopped me right as I walked out the door.

"Jake!" she yelled. I stopped in front of some lockers. She came over and punched me right in my shoulder. I screamed out, still feeling the pain from that "car crash".

"Where were you this morning?!" she demanded.

"Ow."  I said.

"Where were you!?!" she demanded again.

"I was out." I said.

"Out doing what?"

"That's none of your business." I could tell she was offended by that.

"Jake what's going on with you?" I looked at her, and I could see the concern on her face. I contemplated it.

"I can't tell you." I said.

"Why?" she asked.

"I just can't." I replied.

"Buy why-ok, ok you know what, fine." She walked off.

"Alex." I said, trying to call her back. Don walked out of class looking at her storm off, then walked over to me.

"What's going on, Jake?" he asked.

"Nothing Don, nothing." I replied.

I went to my next class. Alex had a right to be upset with me. I wanted to tell her, really, and Don. But I couldn't. She didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. Two of my teachers pulled me aside, told me I needed to get my grades up. I knew I had been slipping, process reports were coming out soon and I knew mine wasn't going to look good. But I had too much on my plate right now. I kept thinking about Alex. I made a decision. I finally decided to tell her. What harm could it do.

It was the end of the day, I felt that was the best time. I stopped her outside.

"Alex, wait." I said. She stopped, but she looked frustrated.

"Alright, there's something I need to tell you." I said. I took a deep breath, almost hesitating to say anything, but I started talking.

"It all started after my uncle died. At first I was just doing it, but then...everything changed." I watched her expression change, as she grew more and more into it. "Alex, I...I'm-"

My phone rang. I tried to ignore it, but I knew I had to answer it. I saw it was Mike, I turned away from Alex so she wouldn't hear then answered.

"It's not a good time Mike." I said.

"Jake, he agreed." Mike said.

"What?" I was confused.

"Mr.Padder agreed. He's gonna get us a meeting with The Kingpin." I understood now.

"What changed?" I asked.

"He got his phone call." Mike replied.

"It's gonna be at Jaguar's Boulevard, right below the interstate. The commissioner wants to meet with you, wants to strategize." he informed me. I hung up. By the time I turned around, Alex was gone. I felt bad, now she'll hate me. But I can't worry about her right now. Now I needed to focus on the meeting.

Later on that day, the commissioner and I met. We strategize a plan we hoped would work. Mr.Padder told us his employer would meet with us, under certain conditions. No secret surveillance, no potential life threats, and no press. Just a simple one-on-one meet. The commissioner wasn't going to take any chances. He wasn't going to accept the demands of "The Kingpin", he going to be prepared to take him down. He was going to set up officers all around the perimeter. Four snipers in the building across, six officers undercover walking the perimeter, and a SWAT team on standby to apprehend "The Kingpin". I didn't like the idea of the commissioner not following the demands, but I wanted to get "The Kingpin" just as much as he did. I couldn't help but think, my uncle died trying to find this guy, and failed. I will not let him die in vain.

Jaguar's Boulevard. It was right under the interstate, a small parking lot with very few lights. We were there, we were all there, and we were ready. The commissioner, two other officers, and I, along with Mr.Padder, were all piled inside of a van. We were waiting for his arrival. The commissioner was making sure everyone was in their positions, he didn't want this going south. The officer standing next to me, started talking to me.

"I met 'The Nightwatcher', once. I saw him, take down fifteen guys, all by himself.  He even saved my wife. I never got the chance to thank him for that though." His words really touched me.
"Many of the other guys in the office felt he was screwing them out of their job, others felt he was making it easy for them to sit on their asses all day."

"What do you think?" I said, in a low and muffled voice.

"...I think he's the hero this city needs. Well, needed. I respected him. And if you're anything like him,-" I turned to look at him. "-you'll have my respect too." I nodded at his remark.

"It's time." the commissioner said. I felt my phone vibrate. I looked to see it was Alex. I ignored it, it was the time. But it was time to meet "The Kingpin".

We all stepped out of the van. The officer that was talking to me was holding Mr.Padder. The officer, Mr.Padder, the commissioner, and I all stood in the middle of the parking lot. My eyes kept panning, I kept thinking something might happen but nothing did. We stayed there, for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours. I'd look over and see the cop dressed as a homeless man. We all started to lose hope. I started to believe he wasn't going to show up. Maybe he was right. Maybe "The Kingpin" isn't real. Maybe my uncle made it up. Maybe I have everyone fooled.

A black truck pulled up. It slowly pulled into the parking lot. I started to get butterflies in my stomach. It stopped. Some guys in black suits I didn't recognize stepped out of the truck. They stood there silent. One guy slowly walked, then opened the back passenger door. My stomach was filled with butterflies. I lifted my head just so I could clearly see. It's happening, it's really happening. The moment of truth.

The door opened. I watched this man step out. He was tall, dark-skinned, and his head glistened. He wore an all-black with no tie. We all anxious. I heard the commissioner whisper into the wire in his jacket. "ID him." The man stood there for a second, along with his men. He had a bit of a smirk on his face, but he still look serious. This is "The Kingpin". I was a bit underwhelmed. This is man behind it all. The guns, the crime. This is the man my uncle died trying to catch. "The Kingpin." The Kingpin and his men started walking closer to us, slowly and methodically. We did the same. We came closer, and closer, until we were nearly face-to-face. Everyone was silent for a moment, and then he spoke.

"Police Commissioner Harvey Ferrell." he said.

"Kingpin." the commissioner replied.

"It's pleasure to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine." the commissioner replied, sarcastically.

"Now that I am here, I would like you to return my my associate to me."

"Not gonna happen." I said. He look at me, then back at the commissioner.

"You have no evidence commissioner. You have nothing to charge Mr.Padder with."

I stepped in. "Did you kill 'The Nightwatcher'?" I said, demanding an answer.

He looked at me and chuckled. Completely ignoring the question, he turned his attention back to the commissioner.

"Mr.Padder is under police custody and it remain that." the commissioner said.

"Then you have all wasted my time."

"Not necessarily." The commissioner said, with a smirk on his face. "Gambit!"

In a matter of seconds, we were surrounded. SWAT team ran in, carrying CZ Scorpion Evo 3 submachine guns and more. Several officers pulled up in their cars, surrounding the parking lot. The cops grabbed The Kingpin's men and brought them down to the ground. Several SWAT members surrounded The Kingpin. He was surprisingly calm. He got down on his knees, and put his head behind his back. We had the area surrounded, his mens were down, and The Kingpin was done.

"It's over." I said to him. I was feeling pretty good, I did my uncle proud.

"I guess you fell into our trap." the commissioner said.

"No commissioner, you fell into mine." he said, with a big smile on his face. Then came the ambush.

Several guys in black came rushing in. They surrounded us and rained down hell. Their guns echoed as they fired at us. We took cover behind some blockades. I quickly grabbed The Kingpin. Running through all the chaos, I threw into the back on the van. The commissioner and his officers were firing back, but in a losing effort. I watched it. I watched as each of his officers went down. One by one. Each one, impaled in bullets, holes in their shirts, blood on their bodies. Even the officer, who showed me respect, was gunned down. I watched it, right before my eyes. I looked up and peaked as the truck drove off. I looked around the massacre, the massacre I caused. Three of his officers survived, all wounded.

"Goddammit!" the commissioner yelled. I looked around for, Mr.Padder. We must have lost him in the confusion. We failed. I failed. Our only lead slipped through our fingers, several officers were gunned down in a firefight they didn't see coming.

"I failed you Unc." I said to myself.

On the other side of town, later on that night...

Mr.Padder was safe and sound. During the confusion, he got away from the cops and took off in the truck. He was taken to meet with his employer. He was escorted through a luxury building, up an elevator to an extravagant penthouse suite. The elevator door opened. Several guys in dark suits stood guard all through the penthouse. The penthouse was all-white, extravagant decorum was everywhere. Mr.Padder was escorted to the office. He opened the door, and there sat The Kingpin on his throne. His gigantic chair hid his body; it was facing the giant window.

"Pleasure to have you back, Mr.Padder." the person's voice was being disguised. "I take it our arrangement went as planned." Someone said something under their breath.

"Mr.Jones! Can you please inform me of what happened?" the mysterious figure said. Mr.Jones was Mr.Padder's escort. He was there when everything went down. He looked at Mr.Padder, then stepped forward.

"Several officers were gunned down during the ambush. But some managed to survive the attack, those including the police commissioner and 'The Vigilante'." he said, hesitantly. The mysterious figure didn't say anything, but then finally spoke.

"Thank you, Mr.Jones. Will please come to my desk?" He looked at Mr.Padder, then walked over to the desk. Mr.Padder held his head down. BOW! He immediately looked up. Mr.Jones dropped, laid out on the floor with a hole in his forehead. Mr.Padder tried to hide his fear.

"Your negligence Mr.Padder has costed the life of one of my men. This is strike one." Mr.Padder didn't speak.

A click noise went off, the big chair spun around.....and revealed a Hispanic woman in an all-white outfit. She was behind it all. The guns, the crime, Liberty City was falling and it was because of her. She is, The Kingpin.

"Now I believe you have some work to do." she said, very plain and simple. Mr.Padder nodded, then left her office.
