Mia's POV

I watched the city slowly become smaller and smaller until all I could see was a blurry sketch of what the landscape consisted of. I leaned my head back against the headrest of the airplane seat and held Alex's hand. The ring still felt a little too foreign on my hand which caused me to keep looking at it.

Alex was drinking a coffee and reading a book while holding my hand back stroking it with his thumb gently. I was so excited to go back home to share the news with everybody. I could not believe I would get to keep him for myself for the rest of my life.

I looked at him and admired the shape of his nose and jaw. I loved the height of his cheekbones and the green tint of his eyes. His hair which was a little longer now framed his face perfectly and every little flaw in his beautiful face just made him even more perfect. I loved how his bottom lip was a little thicker on one side and it made his smile a little crooked. I loved the crease in between his eyebrows from all the times that he furrowed them as he focused on something. I loved the dimple on his chin and the way that his right eyebrow was arched a little higher than his left.

He turned at me and raised his right eyebrow as if reading my thoughts which made me laugh softly and turn away. During most of the flight I had decided to make spreadsheets on his laptop with everything that we would need to get done for the wedding but for the rest of the way I could not help but falling asleep cuddled up to him.

As I sat in his car thinking of everything that we had gone through during the vacation I realized that I would probably be moving in with him in a few months. That thought alone took me by surprise. Of course I knew it would happen I just had not really put much thought into it. My phone rang and I answered when I saw it was my parents.

"Hey mom" I said excitedly.

"Hi baby girl! How are you? How was the vacation? Did you have fun?"

I laughed and tried to answer all her questions, "I'm great mom, the vacation was amazing and I'll tell you all about it when I see you but I definitely had fun."

"Oh baby when will you come see us? Your brother, father and I miss you very much."

"I miss you all too mom, when would you all be free? Alex and I wanted to talk to you and dad."

"Well why not tonight? You both can come over for dinner? I really miss my little girl."

I smiled against the phone, "hold on a second mom."

I turned to Alex and said, "babe, do you think we can have dinner with my parents today? It could be our time to tell them the news?"

He turned and parked outside of my house as he nodded, "that sounds great babe, the sooner they know the better."

I turned back to my mom, "dinner sounds great mom, we'll be there around 5 is that okay? Do you want me to bring anything?"

"Five is perfect honey, just bring yourselves already I miss you."

I laughed and said, "I miss you too mom, see you later."

After hanging up, I got off the car before Alex could open the door because I completely forgot and he smirked, "you're never going to get used to it are you?"

I giggled and grabbed my purse as he got my suitcase. We walked into my apartment which felt a little lonely. I set everything down and opened the windows to get some natural light into the place.

He pecked my lips gently and said, "I really don't want to leave but I have to take care of something things at work and get ready before dinner with your parents so..."

I was a little sad but figured I could use the time alone to catch up with Addison and tell her everything that has happened. "okay babe, I'll see you at 4:30?"

He kissed my lips softly and smiled, "I'll be here."

After he left I texted Addison telling her I had important news to tell her to which she replied, "you're finally back!!! I'll be in your house in fifteen!!"

I laughed at her message and decided to settle in and unpack as I waited. I had literally just sat down after unpacking everything when I heard a knock on the door and I opened it only to be attacked by my best friend screaming that she missed me.

I hugged her back while trying not to fall onto the sofa.

"Tell me all about your vacation! Tell me what the big news are! Omg just tell me everything I missed you so much!"

I laughed and sat down on the sofa with her, "okay I'll tell you just give me a minute, do you want anything to drink?"

"Nope thanks, I just want you to tell me everything" she said smiling widely.

"Okay well.." I didn't know how else to explain to I showed her my hand with the ring on my finger. She looked confused for half a second then looked at me with wide eyes.

"You're getting married?!?!"

I nodded while biting my lip and waiting on her response.

"Oh my lord I am so happy for you! He better be treating you right! I need to have a serious talk with him. Give me all the details please don't omit anything."

I basically told her everything that happened during the whole vacation only omitting the part where I tried to gift him myself as an anniversary gift.

I had almost spent an hour telling her everything with all the details and when I was done I could almost see the excitement radiating off of her.

"Will you be my maid of honor Addi?"

"I thought you would never ask!" She said hugging me.

"I'm so glad I have you Addison" I said honestly meaning every word.

"I know, I feel the same way about you. Now we have so much planning to do! Wow my best friend is getting married! This is unbelievable!"

I hadn't laughed like this in so long. She always knew how to make me laugh. We had been planning parts of the wedding for a few hours now while drinking champagne. I tried to slow my drinking because I did not want to meet my parents while I was drunk.

I was glad that Addison had helped me plan a very rough idea of what I wanted for my wedding but I would need to discuss everything with Alexander first. Addison was getting ready to leave now since she was supposed to meet with Taylor and I asked her not to tell him before Alexander did since he was his best friend.

After Addison left I quickly got ready because it was almost 4:30. I was almost done when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to a well dressed Alexander which made me feel a little underdressed. However knowing my parents they were wearing very casual clothing and there was no reason I should feel underdressed.

As we drove to my parents house Alexander kept asking me questions about them and what they liked or disliked. I figured he was worried about meeting them officially and telling them he was also marrying me.

"Babe don't worry, they're going to love you."

"I'm not worried, I just want everything to go well" he said pretending he wasn't worried at all.

He parked outside of my parents house and opened my door. He looked nervous even though he was trying to play it off. I kissed his cheek softly, "relax."

He smiled and rolled his eyes as we headed to my parents' house. My mom probably heard the car arrive because she opened the door before I knocked.

"Oh my baby! I missed you so much," she squealed while wrapping her arms around me.

"I missed you too mom!" I hugged her back as she said, "oh please come in come in."

We walked into the house and she looked at Alexander with a sort of awe and expectation as well.

I hugged my dad and brother then turned to look at all of them.

"Alex this is my mom, dad, and my brother Ethan. Family, this is Alexander Kingston, my fiancée."

Alex's POV

As I stepped into the house I couldn't help feeling extremely nervous. Maybe her parents would see that something was off and would convince her to not marry me. She is in love with me and that could keep her from seeing my need for revenge but her parents might be able to notice.

I tried to put my best smile on as she said,
"Alex this is my mom, dad, and my brother Ethan. Family, this is Alexander Kingston, my fiancée."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Franco," I said while shaking her hand but she seemed like she was completely out of it. I shook her father's hand and Ethan's.

"Wait, fiancée?" Her dad asked.

"Yes daddy... He proposed during our vacation and I could not be happier to say yes" she said as she held my hand.

"But we are barely meeting him..." Her mom said as if I wasn't there then added, "I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude I'm just taken by surprise."

"I understand" I said while adding a charming and understanding smile.

"I'm sorry I'm taking you by surprise mom, it took me by surprise as well but trust me when I say I could not be happier with the decision," she said as she leaned back against me.

Her dad was the first to return back to normal, "well congratulations to you both, as long as my baby girl is happy then I will be happy."

The dinner was going quite well and towards the end of the day I felt that I could relax a little more since they seemed to like me. The only other rough moment was when we said the wedding would take place in less than three months. After some explaining and reassuring, they seemed to be okay with it as well.

I could see where she got her looks from. Her father was a very tall, and burly man with dark blue eyes and light brown hair. I could tell he loved his family and would protect them no matter what. From what I learned during our dinner, he worked as a body guard which was probably why he was so fit. I also learned that he loved playing tennis so we agreed to meet up for a game sometime.

Her mother was also very beautiful. I think Mia looks more like her with her small features and large eyes. She was basically an older version of Mia but with much lighter colored hair. They did share the same beautiful bright blue eyes. Apparently her mom had worked as a pastry chef and was well known in the area.

Ethan was only sixteen and in high school. He was a quiet kid and spend most of the afternoon playing video games. He had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes like his dad.

Mia had spent part of the afternoon planning wedding details with her mother while Ethan, Mia's dad and I watched sports on TV. When Ethan left the room Mia's father turned to look at me and said, "look, I like you. I can see my daughter loves you but that won't save you from the talk. She's my only baby girl and I want you to know that I would do anything for her. You hurt her, I hurt you. You make her cry, I make you cry. You treat her right, I treat you right? Understood?"

Even though I would not let myself get intimidated I could see how anyone would be scared of him. His muscles made his polo shirt stretch out a little and and his gaze was threatening.

"I have no intentions of hurting your daughter in any way sir. I just want to make her happy" I lied.

He looked at me for a few more seconds then he softened up and I could tell he believed my lie.

Once Ethan came back it was like the talk had not happened which I appreciated because it eased my guilt. Her parents were truly welcoming people and it pained me to know I would be hurting their daughter very soon. I tried to distract myself by looking around the house and was surprised to see how much of Mia's art hung around the walls. One of the paintings on the wall grabbed my attention. It was a red car parked close to a beach. I looked at the painting a little closer and realized why the car looked so familiar. It was the same brand and color as the car that I had seen drive away after my dad's accident.

My heart dropped to my stomach and I tried to simply ignore the pain which proved difficult. Despite the fact that I knew that it was her, every additional confirmation still pained me.
