Gwen's pov

Life's  a  bi*ch, it keeps trying to put you in  the worst situations, you have an option  of hiding, trying to escape from that, and you  also  have  an  option  to fight  back,  face  it  till  you  beat  it.

I tried the first one, didn't quite work out.  So now it's time to face him, to show  the snake that  he could no longer see my  past  as  a  weakness.

When life gives you lemons, don't bother  making lemonade, squeeze the lemon into  your enemies eyes. Fight till you are known  for it. I straightened the collar of my blazer,  my head held high. I waited for the snake to  come to me like a lamb to a butcher. He will  not know what hit him.

The door opened and Lisa poked her head  in, "Mr Rian is here to meet you." She said. I  smiled, yes be terrified when I smile, because it means I know a way to put you back to the place you  deserve.

"Bring him in." I told her. Adam Rian barged into my office, no doubt feeling like  he is on top of the world. Don't worry the  higher you  rise, more chances for you to  fall down deeper.

"I knew you would give in." I heard him mock. Ouch I'm so  hurt, that was the worst  insult of my life. How am I gonna live with  that insult, thought so never, me worried  about him. Please he doesn't have  enough  standards to hurt me.

"What do you want Adam?" I asked, even  though I  knew the answer. The greedy pig  would never be satisfied with anything.

"I told you help my company." He  answered. Ugh the self mocking smile. I can  think of a hundred scenarios with the same  result, him going out on a wheelchair.

"And if I do it, you will stay away from  them." I confirmed.

"Yep, never liked them." He shrugged.

"I had my lawyer, draw up a contract. It states that I take complete responsibility of  your losses, and will have a special team in  your company." I stated for his benefit.

"I don't want anything with the company. I  just want money.  I couldn't save money in  my company." Adam said unconcerned.

"Hard to save money if you use it for  gambling." I mocked.

"So you keep track of my life." He said with  a wicked gleam in his eyes. "After  everything that happened, you still think  about me, then maybe we could take things  to a personal  level."

I scoffed, leave the pig to think rubbish.  "Have you heard keep your enemies closer  than your friends."

"We were never friends, it was  something  more." He tried in a seductive voice.

"Yes, it was something more, the level of  hatred I had for you was special." I  countered. "Just  sign  the  papers." I gave  up. Talking  to  him was  exhausting.

"You like talking to me, admit it." He  grinned.

"Yes I have do have a habit of sometimes  being with stupid people, to estimate how  smart I can be." I  said. Take that lunatic,  have a comeback for that. Adam's  ltiny  brain couldn't process a suitable comeback  so he wisely shut his mouth and signed the  document on the table.

"I expect my company will do wonderful, if  not I can sue  you." He  warned. My eyebrow  rose, who  is  this  idiot using my money, my  hard work and warning  me. Time will one  day bitch slap him, I'd like to see that.

"I didn't learn my job from you, so  obviously it will be the  best. Now get out  of  my office." I said eyes narrowed.

Adam like the spoiled brat he is, got what  he wanted. He winked at me, when I didn't  bat an eye he sighed dramatically and left.

I fell back on my chair, rubbing my forehead with the tip of my  fingers. I have a  plan, but who am I kidding. Which plan  actually works out? The moment you try  your plan all hell breaks loose. Adam could  sometimes be smart, yeah you heard me right. Pray and hope he doesn't figure things  out.

*******
Emma pov

I hate my life.

You think I'm dramatic, get engaged to an  idiot who whose intelligence level is lesser  than a donkey. Seriously those animals  don't deserve to be compared to him.

How did you think, you would react when  your engaged to Adam Rian. Someone pity  me. I came home expecting  that  my  grandfather had finally kicked the bucket.  Never in dreams did I see this coming.

I had dreams of opening an art studio. I  loved painting, my earliest memories  were  of my mom holding my hand and teaching  me to paint. But Dad warned me to agree to  his stupid deal. Adam promised to take  care  of my mom's hospital bills. The only reason  I agreed to this nonsense.

"Sweetheart where are you?" The annoying  voice chirped. Wanna guess who that is,  whose the biggest drama queen, of  course  it's Adam. I  ignored  his voice and finished  doing the dishes. I just wanted to get some  dinner and retreat to my room, really not  ready to deal with anyone.

Hands wrapped around my waist, Adam rested his head on my shoulder, causing me  to flinch. The pighead thought it was a  shudder and smirked. I wanted nothing  more shoving a knife down his throat.

"You want to do something interesting  love." He whispered into my ear, tears  filled up in my eyes. What did I do to deserve  this?

"Call me love once again and I will  personally make sure  you lack a limb or  two." I warned. Manipulative  men like him  usually prey on weakness of  people, they  take advantage of people's fear.

Adam's nostrils  flared, he looked mad  enough to actually hit me. Freaking put  your hands on me, I'll make sure you rot in  jail for the rest of your life.

He must have sensed the determination in my face, he  snapped  "Keep  up  this  act,  but once you are married to me. I will show  you what your place  is."

I wanted nothing more than to punch him.  But my mom's memories held me back. I glared at him. Be strong  Emma, it is the  only choice  you  have.

I fell on my bed and sobbed. It's the only  thing that would give me some solitude.
