"Aiden did...."

"Because Lucy did.."

"So, you thought it was okay to trip him down the stairs."

"Seemed okay at that time."

"Lucy Danielle Smith, Don't get snippy with me."

"Can we exchange her for a pet?"

"NO!"

"Bummer."

Wincing at the yelling downstairs I closed the laptop and stretched my legs. Gwen normally had a lot of patience with the kids, but they knew exactly what buttons to push. I opened the door to find out which one of my children were grounded today when a tiny figure crashed into my legs almost knocking me down.

Seeing Lucy stand there with a guilty expression I groaned. My girl with her grandmother's purple eyes looked so innocent that you would almost belive it, but time had taught my family to spot her mischievous smiles just before she did something she wasn't supposed to.

"Hey, Monkey."

"Hi Daddy."

"Why are you in my office?"

"Mum's scolding Aiden." The ever innocent added "It will take her some time to notice that I'm not there."

"So, you think she will not look in my office?" I laughed when she climbed onto my office chair and started spinning circles.

"She doesn't come up here often, except that day when she was looking for something." Lucy answered cackling when the chair spun fast. What exactly happened in my office that time was not an appropriate answer I could give to my daughter.

"Come here Lucy." I gestured to her, wiping her nose with a tissue as she crawled onto my lap, I kept a firm hold on her so she couldn't vault off when I started grilling her I pushed hair out of her eyes.

"Did you have something to do with Uncle Alec's coffee yesterday?"

"He asked me to put two cubes of sugar in his coffee." She answered wiggling around, ahh, the little traitor was aiming for an exit, it meant she did do whatever he accused her of.

"And did you?"

"It's a boring story."

"You don't lie to me."

"I may have put salt in it." She squeaked softly, if I weren't listening so carefully I wouldn't have heard it. Alec had taken one sip of his coffee the other day only to spit it out. Lucy stood there with so much concern that no one had a heart to ask her about it.

"Why?"

"He called you the A-word Daddy, I don't like anyone talking to you like that." She pouted absentmindedly playing with the buttons on my coat.

"My knight in shining armour." I laughed brushing my nose against hers.

"Knight in shining armour." She agreed cheerfully

"Tommorrow I want you to go apologize to Uncle Alec." I said firmly seeing the seriousness in my eyes she squirmed lightly.

"Uncle Alec said a bad word."

"I'm not teaching Uncle Alec manners." God knows that he's a lost cause. "I'm teaching you to apologise when you do something wrong."

"Okay." She agreed tugging on my watch.

"Do you wanna go downstairs and see what Molly made for lunch?" I questioned taking her hand in mine and leading her down the stairs.

"Will you eat with us?"

"I can't, But mum's staying with you. I'll see you at dinner." I kissed the top of her head and saw Gwen sitting on the barstool and looking at her phone.

Lucy raced after Aiden into the backyard, then both of them proceeded to pull out grass and throw it at each other.

"I take it you had a talk with her?" Gwen asked amusedly watching the kids run around.

"Mum is taking the kids to the park after lunch." I said taking out a water bottle from the refrigerator.

"It's my day off, I can stay with them." Gwen protested looking up from her phone.

"Watch a movie, read a book or just take a nap. The kids keep you busy enough as it is, take sometime to just relax." I tugged her towards me, kissing the base of her neck.

"That does sound good."

"Can we have breakfast for dinner?" Aiden asked standing in front of us, almost jumping in excitement.

"Of course."

"I'm gonna tell Lucy." He stormed off with Gwen reminding him to not run so fast.

"How does pancakes sound?" Gwen asked as I kissed her neck, making sure no body noticed I slipped my hand under her shirt when she swatted my hands away.

"I'll find a way to use the syrup."

"It's meant to be eaten on pancakes."

"I will be eating it off.." I laughed when she pulled my tie and roughly slammed a kiss on my mouth, swatting my behind with a spatula she practically pushed me out of the kitchen.

"You will pay for that." I warned

"Later."

My life was stressful and messy and sometimes so irritating that I wished I could just stop everything, but my family gave me a reason to smile, to get up everyday, and I wouldn't give it up for world.

Hey guys, I recently found out that my book was posted on another website without my permission and they were even making money out of it. After days of emailing people I finally had it taken down. My book is only on Wattpad, if you find it on any other platform please contact me so I can take it down. I was so upset to see my book on the website, it even made me consider deleting my Wattpad account for sometime, but I am not because I know a lot of you are waiting for Dave's story. Please let me know if you see my book on any other app.

Stay safe and take care.
