Tenement: A run down and often overcrowded apartment house, especially in a poor section of a large city, typically used by people in the 18th century.

I stare at the tenement. The tenement that burned down. My tenement that burned down 2 weeks ago.

It still feels unbelievable. It's still so hard for me to accept that my family, my only support, my everything, is no more.

If only I had been there, I could have helped. I could have saved Mum, Dad and Evelyn.

The rooms, the kitchen, every single thing was burnt down.

I shake my head to rid myself of these thoughts. I couldn't bring myself to remember the past. I just couldn't.

I took a deep breath and started walking to work.

Due to my mind being preoccupied with what happened, I was unable to concentrate at work which lead my chief to screaming at me alot.

On the way to work, I saw a coffee shop and entered it. As soon as I entered it, I realized Evie and I had come here once.

I closed my eyes for a moment and opened them.

I ordered my coffee and left the shop.

Once I got there, I saw Henry digging up a trench.

I take the last sip of my coffee and then throw the cup into the dustbin and join Henry in digging the trench.

He stands up straight and looks at me, "Oh hi, Mate, why are you so late to work today?"

I look at him, "Hi. Just got caught up in a few things. Why?"

"Boss is really upset. This is the second time you've been late this week." Henry says while having a look on his face that says he's sorry for me.

I huff and roll my eyes. "He's always hated me for some odd reason. He needs to understand that I'm going through a tough time. Chief's demeanor has always been harsh, especially towards me."

As soon as I said that, Henry looks at something behind me.

"What's wrong?" I ask him.

He points his head to something behind me.

I turn my head to look at what Henry was looking at and see that it's not something, it's someone.

Our boss was standing right behind me and heard everything I said about him.

Great.. just absolutely great.

"Do you really think that about me, Edward?" He says, gritting his teeth.

I sigh. What am I even supposed to say to him?

"Answer me!" He screams.

This makes everyone working with me, turn their heads towards the chief.

I look at him, "No. No, I don't."

"You lying bastard! You know I heard everything you said." He bursts out.

"If you did hear me, then, why are you asking me?" I ask.

That's gonna make him infuriated.

He comes closer, a few inches away from my face and screams, "How dare you talk back to me!"

I look down at my feet.

"You're fired! Get out of my sight, this instant!" He screams.

I just stand there. Well, this escalated quickly.

A moment passes by and he speaks again, "Did you not hear what I just said? Get. Out. From. My. Sight."

I take a deep breath and leave from the construction site. I take a left and start walking.. somewhere.

"Edward! Edward, wait up, mate!" He finally reaches up to me, breathing heavily from running.

"Henry, please, just leave me alone for some time." I say.

"I'm not going to talk about it if you don't want to, right now. But, at least tell me, where are you going?" He asks me.

"I'm headed towards.. well I don't know where I'm going but I am going somewhere." I tell him.

Where am I supposed to go?

Before I was fired, I was atleast earning enough so that I could afford to live in a hotel but now that I'm fired, I don't have enough money to afford a hotel room since all the savings I had were spent on food and other items and I didn't even get my this month's salary.

But then, Henry says something that almost clears up all my worry and tension,"You could come to my place," He gives me a small smile.

"I know it's been hard for you lately, so I want you to come live with me. At least it's somewhat better than living in that crappy hotel." He laughs.

I smile and say, "Thank you. Thank you so much."

"Eh, it's no worries. Anything for my friend." He smiles.
