"You got this, my son. C'mon, you can do this!" Mr. Davis encourages me.

I looked at him and smiled, nodding whilst sitting down on the ground.

I began the process of teleporting and..

I open my eyes, there I was.

I looked around, I knew for sure I was three years ahead in the future because I didn't spot Mr. Davis anywhere.

I stand up and go down the pathway in the forest leading towards the city.

There was now a road made in the forest.

I was in the city within 10 minutes or so.

I repeated everything again.

Looked for any phone like station, asked a few people if they'd heard of Alexander's invention and checked newspapers for any news of Alexander's project.

But again I went back to the forest, with no hope, no good news, disappointed, mad at myself.

And teleported back to the current time.

I slowly open my eyes, trying to prevent it from the blazing sun.

My eyes look for Mr. Davis, I see him, rushing to me.

My breathing becomes quicker.

"Son, are you alright?" He helps me stand up, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I nod, "I'm fine. I'm alright."

But it didn't feel like I was reassuring Mr. Davis, telling him I'm alright.

It felt like I was reassuring myself.

"We can take a break if you'd like. There's no rush."

I shook my head, "No, Mr. Davis, I want to do this right now."

His eyes held concern for me, "I don't want to burden you."

"You're not. Don't think that, please. I want to do this, I have to."

He nods, giving me a small smile.

"Okay, any kind of luck?" He asks me, hope in his eyes.

"No," I tell him sadly. "I couldn't find a single thing. Looks like his project hasn't gone out in the open."

"Hmm. That means you'll have to go even more further into the future." He says, pushing his hair back.

"How many years ahead?"

"Six years. You have to go six years ahead in the future now. You think you can do that?" He asks me.

"Sure can." I nod with confidence.

And just like that, as fast as a dog can trot, I was six years ahead

I stand up and see that everything looked so different. In the place of the trees in front of me, there were houses built.

Kind of like a neighborhood.

I saw a man walking out of one of the houses and ask him what I had to ask him, what I had come here for.

"Does the name 'Alexander Graham Bell' ring a bell?" I ask him.

Trying my best not to sound stupid.

"Erm, no, never heard of that name before, pal." He says, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion at how random my question was.

"Alright," The man starts to walk away when another question pops into my head, "Excuse me,, I had to ask you something else as well.."

I described the invention to him, not giving too many details. Just a little so that he'd understand what I'm trying to say.

"Again, no. Sorry." He makes a sympathetic face, as if I needed it.

I nod and say, "alright, thank you."

I walk away and teleport back.

"Any luck, son? Any good news?" He asks me with a hopeful look in his eyes.

But unfortunately I had to shake my head.

"Alright, alright. It's okay. This time you're going to go way ahead into the future."

"How ahead?"

"Ten years ahead."

I was so new to this entire teleportion thing, going ten years ahead into the future made a cold sweat break through me.

"Son, I believe in you. You can do it. I know you can. I know you're nervous, you have every right to be." He encourages me.

"I'm not- I'm not nervous." But my voice gives out that I actually was.

"Edward, your face and so does your voice tell me you're in fact nervous. I'm here for you. I'm here with you. Everything's going to be just fine."

I look up at Mr. Davis, "Thanks." I give him a half smile.

"Alright, are you ready?"

"Ready."

-

Massachusetts. That's where I was again.

For the fourth time, I think.

I walk ahead, walking the path towards the city, again.

The silence in the forest was so deafening that as soon as I entered the noisy city, my heart skipped a beat.

I tried to make my way through the busy crowd and with much struggle, I finally get to the newspaper stall.

I picked one of the newspapers up and started to skim through it.

I was going to put it back, extremely provoked I couldn't find any news of Alexander's invention again, when something caught my eye.

It was an article about an invention, something new that had been invented very recently.

It had the date, 7th March, 1876.

It was 20th March today.

This was 15 days ago.

Then something caught my eye again.

"Inventor and scientist, Alexander Graham Bell, aged 29, invented an instrument designed for the simultaneous transmission and reception of the human voice, called the telephone."

"His invention has quickly become a people's favorite across the US state, Massachusetts and everyone's longing to have it."

"I never thought I'd be able to actually invent such a thing but here I am. This is something to make all our lives so much easier and I couldn't be more happy. - said Alexander Graham Bell when asked how he felt about his invention.

He did it.

Oh my god. He actually succeeded in doing it.

I can't believe it!

I smiled so wide, my cheeks hurt.

I turn around and walk to people with the newspaper.

I go to a woman who was having coffee, holding a hand of a toddler.

"Hi miss. Sorry to bother you but have you heard of this invention? Have you heard of the name 'Alexander Graham Bell'?" I ask her, showing her the newspaper.

She looks at it, furrowing her eyebrows, then suddenly she raises her eyebrows and grins, "Yes, indeed I have! Alexander is great, a genius. He saved our lives when we didn't even know it needed saving."

"And do you have the telephone?"

"Yes I do, it's running out of stock very quickly, it's what everyone wants. But luckily, I got one, yesterday actually."

"Ah that's nice. Well, thank you so much for your time. Hope I didn't bother you much. Enjoy your telephone." I laugh.

"Not at all. And I will." She smiles.

I walk away and go to a man, an elderly man.

He looked like Mr. Davis's age.

"Hello, sir."

The man looks at me, he was sitting on a bench, reading a book.

He looks up.

"Sorry to bother you but I had to ask you a question, if you don't mind, that is."

"Sure, no problem. Go ahead." He smiles.

I bring the newspaper forward and point out to Alexander's invention, "Have you heard of the name 'Alexander Graham Bell'?"

After asking a few peoples opinions on Alexander's invention. I head back to the stall and purchase the newspaper.

"Erm, how much is this newspaper for?" I ask the boy standing behind the newspaper stall. He looked to be about 16 or 17.

"Six cents, sir." He smiled.

I gave him 1 pound, because that was the closest money I had to six cents.

"I apologize, sir, but I don't have an exchange for one pound," He had a pitying look on his face.

"Oh, erm, that's no problem I'll just get an exchange for the market." I smile and start to leave when the boy stops me.

"No, sir. That's totally fine. You don't have to get me an exchange for that dollar. You can have it for free." He smiles.

"Oh I uh– are you sure?"

"Definitely."

"Thank you so much," I pause, wanting to know his name.

"Levi." He brings out his hand.

"Edward," I shake his hand. "I feel really terrible. You shouldn't give it to me for free. I really don't have an issue for going and getting an exchan—"

He cuts me off by saying, "It's okay, sir. Don't worry about it. It'll make be super happy if you take it from me for free."

I smile, "Alright then Levi. I'll take it. Thank you very much once again."

He nods.

-

I'm running. Running fast. Running so fast, adrenaline coursed through me.

Running until fast steps became leaps.

Cold air bit through my lungs.

Gut-wrenching, heart pumping, newspaper in hand, after few thrusts, my legs became tired.

But I didn't care, I continued to run.

I felt free, happy, beyond excited.

I felt excited to tell Me. Davis, to tell Alexander, of course.

And then I was finally there.

I sat down and teleported back.

My eyes snap open. I see Mr. Davis, he was leaning against a tree, talking to Arthur then he laughed at something Arthur said.

Nothing made me happy to see two friends talking, laughing with each other.

Wish I could do that.

Talk to my friend, best friend.

I missed Henry.

I wonder what he was doing.

Probably getting scolded by our chief, maybe having lunch or secretly looking at the pretty girl working in the coffee shop, the girl he so desperately adored.

I snap out of my thoughts when I hear my name.

Mr. Davis walking to me, smiling.

"Son," He puts a hand on my shoulder. " Did you find anything?" There was that same hope in his eyes like last time.

I was neutral at first but then I grinned like an idiot, nodding, "I found it. He is successful, Alexander is successful. I can't wait to tell him! Here look at this article."

Mr. Davis reads it in excitement laughs, "My son! I couldn't be more proud of you! Excellent work! Let's go back home so you can tell Alexander, alright."

"I'm proud of us." I smile.

I hug Mr. Davis and see Arthur standing near the tree.

He gives me thumbs up and smiles.

"Thank you."
