SHEEPFOLD: A pen or a shelter

for sheep.

I set my bag down on the ground and got to work.

This was going to take a huge amount of time to say the least but it had to be done, no matter what.

There was greenery surrounding me from each side. I saw a few big broken branches and big pieces of wood lying on the ground at a distance.

I ran up to where the wood was kept and gathered most of it in my arms and went back to where I had to build my home. Then I went back again and gathered some more wood and branches and some huge leaves as well and then went back to my construction site.

Since I was a laborer, I had some knowledge and experience in building. So thank god for that.

I took out some tools I had brought from Henry's home and begin building.

-

By the time I was done with the base of my home, it was dark. The sky was the colour of cotton candy. There were dark clouds covering every corner of the sky.

I felt a slight itch at the back of my throat.

To say I was thirsty was an understatement.

I looked at the water bottle I had brought with me on the journey and saw that it was already empty.

Great.

I look around, searching for any lakes or rivers nearby.

When I don't find anything, I start to walk.

I keep walking in different directions, hoping to find water.

Then I hear the rippling sound of the river and smell the natural scent of it.

I walk towards the sound of the river and finally see it.

I practically run to the river and see the beauty of it. It was so turquoise for a moment all I felt was tranquility. Burbling, it sprung it's way over the stones. The pebbles whisked and swished under the stream like shining glitter.

It was so beautiful I almost felt guilty to drink from it but I had to.. I needed to.

I collected up a handful of the water and drank it. Then I took a few more handfuls of the water and stopped when my thirst was over.

I walked towards a tree and rested my back against it, resting my eyes.

I hope Evie's proud of me for slowly getting my life back together.

I hope mum and dad are finally content that their only son has stood up on his own feet.

Hope. That's all I can do. Hope that they're not angry with me. Hope that they have forgiven me. Hope that one day I can be the old Edward again

-

It had been 2 months since I was finished building my new home. A small hut.

I had gone to my town to collect some seeds to grow fruits and vegetables and had also bought a sheep with all the money I had left with me in my pocket.

I had to make a living here.

I couldn't risk going to my neighborhood often, because I was nervous I'd run into someone I know, like Henry.

That's why I'd go once a week to collect some food items.

There was some more people who were living at a distance from me on the mountains.

So I'd occasionally go there as well to ask them for some pounds.

And in return I'd give them some of my vegetables.

It was not easy. Going up and down the mountains to buy food, asking people nearby for some pounds. Just living here was hard on it's own

But I managed. I had to. I didn't have any other choice.

-

I was getting my flock of sheep into their sheepfold, when I heard footsteps from behind me.

Thinking it must have been one of my neighbors, I ignored the footsteps.

"Hello, young man."

Okay, that was not one of my neighbors.

I turn around and see a man, who I assume would be in his late 60's, slouching slightly with his hands behind his back. He had dark brown hair but his grey hair were also visible. He was a wearing something quite similar to me. A vest with a waistcoat on top, paired with a coat and trousers.

"Erm, hello," I run a hand through my hair, "Is there anything I can help you with, Sir?"

"No," He gives a slight smile, "I was actually noticing you for a quite a while now. I haven't seen you here before. Are you new around here?" He asks.

"Actually, yes. Yes, I am. I came here about.. 2 months ago." I smile.

"Well, that's nice." He says with a smile.

He then looks behind me, "Quite a handful, aren't they?" He laughs.

I turn around to look at my flock of sheep, "These buddies certainly are, Sir."

I turn back around to look at him again, "How come I've never seen you here before?"

"Well, that's because I live quite a bit far from here. Sort of in the middle of nowhere, you could say. Not many people notice." He says.

I nod.

I slap my forehead, "Sorry, I completely forgot to ask you what your name is."

"Davis. Walter Davis." He puts his hand out to shake my hand.

"Peirce. Edward Peirce." I shake his hand.

Mr. Davis looks me in the eyes deeply, noticing everything about me with great interest.

"Is everything okay, Mr. Davis?" I ask him a little concerned.

He closes his eyes then opens them, "Yes, erm, sorry,"

"No, no. Totally okay. You-" He cuts me off by saying something out of the ordinary.

"Would you mind walking with me back to my home? I'd like to discuss some things with you." He says in a serious tone.

A/N: Mr. Davis seems a little fishy, doesn't he? Anyways, hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. Hope all of you liked this chapter! If you did, make sure to vote, comment and share! Stay blessed!
