You awoke, once again, to the comfort of Namjoon's silk sheets against the softness of your skin. Memories of the night before rushed into your mind as you blinked your eyes open slowly.

You thought about how understanding Namjoon had been and how he had taken such good care of you after the weight of the previous day had gotten to you. You felt so incredibly lucky.

You rolled over, hoping to be met with the warmth of Namjoon's sleeping body right next to you, but instead, you were met with emptiness. You sat up suddenly, looking around the room for any sign of him.

"Joon?" You called out, hoping to see him poke his head into the room at the sound of your voice.

Nothing.

You gently pulled your legs to the side of the bed, placing your feet onto the cold, hardwood floors silently. You tiptoed through the bedroom, grabbing one of his hoodies and a pair of his sweatpants before heading into the hallway.

You walked across the hallway and into the bathroom, flipping the light on quietly. You found a folded letter on the sink with your name written on the outside. Normally, this would have triggered your "fight or flight" response, but seeing as how he had left you in his house rather than your own, you didn't have a reason to panic.

You smiled at the way he had written your name with a small heart next to it. It was the little things like this that made you fall more and more in love with him with each passing day.

You unfolded the note and saw just a few lines of Namjoon's handwriting.

"Good morning beautiful.

Sorry to skip out on having breakfast with you, but I had an emergency at the office. I promise I'll make it up to you this afternoon.

I love you.

-Joon"

You found yourself smiling widely as you read over his short, but sweet, note. There was an underlying tone that had you thinking about what he would do to "make it up to you" when you got off work. But you brushed it off, not wanting to think about it too much.

You decided to take a shower before you headed downstairs. The feeling of the hot water running over your body soothed your tense muscles and put you in a relaxed state of mind.

However, your relaxation was suddenly interrupted by an incredibly disturbing thought. You were going to have to face Taehyung today.

Was he going to be upset with you for rejecting him? Would he make your work life miserable after what happened? Would he fire you all together?

You felt a ball of anxiety forming in the pit of your stomach the longer you thought about it. You quickly got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around your body tightly, attempting to calm yourself.

As if a signal of your distress had been sent into the sky like some sort of cry for help, your phone rung from the other room. You ran across the hall and back into the bedroom to answer it. Namjoon's picture lit up the screen of your phone. You couldn't help but smile at his perfect timing.

"Hello?" You answered, not realizing how tense you sounded.

"Hey, baby. What's wrong?" Namjoon could always tell when something was bothering you.

You sat on the edge of the bed, still wrapped in your towel. "It's nothing. I just started to panic thinking about having to see my boss again today. I'm not sure how things are going to go. He might fire me. Or make my work life a living hell. Or-"

"Stop that." Namjoon suddenly cut you off. "I think you're overthinking everything and you're going to get yourself worked up again like you did last night. I hate seeing you so upset, love."

You smiled softly. "You always know what to say. I don't know how you can be so sure and confident that things are always going to work out, but it makes me feel at peace."

Namjoon paused briefly over the phone. "Try not to stress about it. You're going to have a normal day at work and then I'm going to make up for not being there when you woke up as soon as you get off." You could hear him smiling as he spoke.

"Sounds like a plan. I gotta finish getting ready. I love you, Joon."

"I love you too. Have a good day."

You hung up the phone, feeling reassured and confident in the day you were going to have. If only you could have the mindset that Namjoon had that everything would always work out for the best.

After getting dressed, putting on your makeup, and grabbing a banana for breakfast, you headed out of Namjoon's front door and got into your car before heading to work.

You took the time to appreciate the city and how beautiful everything truly was.

The way the buildings towered over the streets, stretching way up into the sky. The way everyone busily walked on the sidewalk with a single destination. The way the fluffy, white clouds softly rested against the pale blue sky. You had never taken the time to notice such small details before Namjoon made you appreciate all of the little things in life.

You finally pulled into your usual parking spot at work and made your way inside. Even though Namjoon had made sure to make you feel better about how today would go, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of panic when you saw Taehyung in his office, his back to you. Your desk was within clear sight of his office, so it's not like you would be able to avoid him in any way.

Deciding to attempt normalcy, you put your belongings at your desk and sat down to get the day started.

You had no longer started on the pile of faxes that had been haunting you for days now when you felt a pair of eyes staring at you. You looked up only to make direct eye contact with Taehyung from within his office.

You offered a weak smile but got nothing in return. Instead, he walked to the window of his office and shut his blinds abruptly. You noticed his bottom lip looked like it was bleeding. What was going on?

You shook your head slightly, trying not to read too far into it. But your mind got the better of you. No matter how hard you tried to focus on your work, you couldn't help but think about how Taehyung had given you such a cold stare before closing his blinds.

Not to mention his lip.

Even though you didn't have any romantic feelings for Taehyung, you had still worked together for 6 years. You were kind of friends. You weren't incredibly close, but you didn't want to lose him as a friend completely.

The two of you had risen through the company together, learning the ins and outs of the business, making connections, and learning more than you thought you ever would.

With this in mind, you decided to swallow your fear and try to talk to him. You got up from your desk and slowly made your way to his office. You knocked three short knocks on the door and waited patiently for an answer.

"Come in." You heard Taehyung's deep voice echo from the other side.

You pushed the door open and stepped inside to find Taehyung sitting at his desk with his head down, his fingers intertwined in his hair as he rested his head on his hands. He looked up at you and scoffed before looking back down. You weren't imagining things earlier. He definitely had a fresh cut on his lip that looked like it had only recently stopped bleeding.

"What do you want, y/n?" He growled.

You were taken back by his attitude and rude demeanor, but you didn't let it stop you from saying what you needed to say to him.

"Listen, Taehyung-"

"It's Mr. Kim." He interrupted you without even looking up.

You blinked a couple of times. So this was how it was going to be now. You cleared your throat quietly.

"Mr. Kim. I'm so sorry about what happened yesterday. I'm sorry if I led you on or gave you mixed signals about how I felt about you. I really hope we can move past it and go back to the way things were." You stated, confidently. You were proud of yourself for saying exactly what was on your mind instead of shying away like you usually did.

Taehyung's head flew up, his intense gaze full of fire and anger.

"Move past it? How the fuck do you expect us to move past it after you send your boyfriend to threaten me?!" He raised his voice, almost yelling.

You furrowed your brow as your mouth hung open slightly.

"What are you-"

"Don't play dumb with me, y/n. I get here for work this morning and your precious boyfriend is here waiting to punch the shit out of me before he threatened to do worse if I ever touched you again. But you expect everything to just go back to normal now? Fuck you. Get out of my office." The veins in Taehyung's neck were now prominent as he continued to let his anger take over.

You stood there with so many questions running through your mind. How could Taehyung treat you so coldly after he had basically confessed his feelings for you the day before? Why would Namjoon lie to you and say he had a meeting to go to when he really came here to beat up your boss? What the hell was going on?

"GET OUT!" Taehyung's voice boomed, startling you.

You stumbled out of his office quickly and made your way back to your desk. Several of your colleagues were staring at you, but you didn't even notice. You were fuming with anger and hurt.

You sat at your desk for a moment before a lightbulb went off in your head. You were going to play into Namjoon's lie. Just to see how far he would take it. How far would he run with it before he realized you knew the truth already?

By the end of the night, you would have him begging for your forgiveness.
