"Alright, morons, grab a seat and don't touch anything. Yet," Mr. Lee shouted to the Wednesday Detention society as they filed into B3. Most of them were still wearing their villain costumes. The SVE club was already there, anxiously awaiting the moment they would have to leave.

Taro furiously tapped away at an old laptop, occasionally looking between the screen and his phone. "This is way different from the tutorial," he could be heard muttering to himself.

Rachel, meanwhile, was sketching out a "Panic Plan" on the blackboard. "Hey, Midas," she called.

Midas looked up from the maps he and Evan were spreading out on a table. "Yeah?"

"What would you say comes first, killing the computers or shredding the docs?" Rachel asked.

"Computers," Midas answered. "It's harder to trace paper."

"Got it," Rachel answered. After a minute of writing, she stood back to check out her work.

Panic Plan

In the event of MISSION FAILURE* please remain calm and proceed according to the following protocol:

1. Hit the KILL SWITCH to delete all computer evidence

2. SHRED all PAPERS, especially the maps and charts (shredders are located at the front of the room)

3. Gather all evidence and your belongings and EXIT the building as a group through the WEST DOOR that lets out into the soccer fields.

4. Load ALL EVIDENCE into Mr. Lee's van (He will drive it to a secret location where it will all be burned).

5. MAKE LIKE A BAKERY TRUCK AND HAUL BUNS OUT OF HERE! GO GO GO GO

LAST PERSON OUT: Erase this.

*Mission Failure: The event in which either the SVE club is caught and apprehended at ISH or Mission Control is found by a snitch.

Important: Keep your mouths shut about this. Remember, snitches get stitches.

Nate stopped by the board to check out the plan, lowering his shades to read. "Looks pretty good, Rach."

    "Thanks."

"Just hope we don't need it," Nate said nervously.

Sam squinted at the first step in the Panic Plan from where she stood in the back of the room. "We have a kill switch? Since when?"

"I'm sending you the link now, Sam," Taro said. "Pray you don't have to use it."

"It's a link?" Sam asked, puzzled. She checked her phone.

"Yeah, I've got a link for everything now, even the cameras. Just click on it and it'll erase everything on the laptop... and hopefully it won't affect your phone," he added under his breath.

"What?!" Sam exclaimed, regarding her phone as if she held a viper.

"Like I said, pray you don't have to use it," Taro laughed distractedly.

Sam was about to reply when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Um, Sam?" Willow said quietly. "We need to explain to everyone else what they're doing here." She nodded her head towards the Wednesday Detention Society idling in the room, obviously wondering what on earth was in store for them.

"Uh, got it," Sam said, making her way to the front of the room. She glanced at Taro as she passed. "This conversation's not over." Taro either didn't hear her or ignored her.

At the front of the room, she stood on a chair and faced the other dozen students who had gotten detention.

"Okay, guys, welcome aboard! I need you all to split into two... wait, no, three groups," Sam ordered. "Group A, you're in charge of in-house security. You need to keep anyone else from coming down here and alert us if anyone like the cops comes. Go talk to Nate, he'll give you further instructions. Group B, you're monitoring the school's security cameras. Give Taro your phone numbers and he'll send you the link. Group C, you're on maps and diagrams- the charts are all over there, so start studying."

Nobody moved, surprised by Sam's suddenly taking charge.

Mr. Lee stepped up. "You heard the girl- Get to work!"

This seemed to wake everyone out of their stupor and they began to shuffle to their respective assignments, some more openly enthusiastic than others, but all excited. As Sam stepped down from the chair, she noticed Midas approaching her, a black spiral notebook in his grip.

"Here," he said, handing her the notebook. He held it limply, as if it were heavy.

Sam's eyes widened as she accepted the book. She read the words scrawled with a white marker on the cover. "Villain Autograph Book?" She looked back to Midas with a confused grin.

"I, uh..." Midas seemed unable to meet her eyes for a second. He took a breath and became his usual unemphatic self. "Look, you've been doing a great job lately, and I know we'd talked about you not really being in the club but... I guess what I'm trying to say is..."

Sam raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"

"What I'm trying to ask you, actually," Midas backtracked.

"Yeah?" Sam said, holding it out longer than the first 'yeah.'

"Would you... Do you want to be a real member of the SVE club? Not a sidekick?" Midas finally said.

Sam pretended to think about this. "Hm, I don't know... I've gotten pretty used to my job, I'm not sure-" She tilted her head as if considering, resting her chin on her knuckles.

"Of course, if you don't want to, I'd understand," Midas said. He reached for the black notebook. "I will have to take that back though."

"Hey, why?" Sam said, yanking the notebook away from him, suddenly protective of the object.

"They're for SVE members only," Midas answered, trying to keep a straight face. He again attempted to take the notebook. Sam let out a triumphant shout as she dodged him.

"Oh, so, did the others get one too?" she asked, giggling.

"No."

"Why not?"

A laugh finally escaped from Midas' nose, more of a scoff really. "Sam, who else would want to collect autographs from villains besides you? Nobody else is either dumb or brave enough. You're the only one."

"Are you calling me dumb?" Sam gasped, in mock offense.

Midas crossed his arms, suppressing a cringe. "Come on, Sam. Are you in or not?"

Sam threw her head back, grinning. "Of course I'm in!" she said. "I thought you'd never ask."

"Glad to hear it," Midas said. He seemed truly happy with Sam's response, and maybe even a little bit relieved. "I can't ask you to join us at ISH today, but if SVE ever does something as stupid as this again, I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we look forward to working alongside you."

"Same here, Midas," Sam said, a little more self-consciously than usual. "Now maybe we should get this show on the road."

Midas simply nodded and turned to gather the rest of the SVE members.

"Wait, Midas?" Sam called. "One more thing."

Midas turned around. "What is it?"

Sam held up the black notebook. "Now can I have your autograph?" she asked somewhat sheepishly.

Midas shook his head. "No. You already have it."

As he left, Sam stood frozen for a moment. Was he just messing with her? Hands shaking, she carefully flipped open the book to the first page. Sure enough, it was signed.

Several minutes later, six members of the SVE were gone from B3 and were well on their way to ISH at that very moment. All around, the students worked at their individual tasks. The newest member of the SVE club sat at Taro's laptop, clicking through the security cameras anxiously. On her lap, Sam still had the book Midas had given her. His last words still rang in her ears.

Not being one for long speeches, Midas had kept his 'pep-talk' brief.

"We're all doing this today for a different reason," Midas said. "Some of us are doing this for revenge. For others, it's spite or boredom. Some of you are just getting pushed into this. One of us is even doing this for their family. But for the next hours, our differences don't matter. We all have the same mission, we all have the same goal."

The team nodded, glancing at each other in silent support. The tension in the room could have been cut like a cord stretched taut. Everyone was on edge and eager to begin.

"Remember, everyone needs to stick together," Midas reminded. "On your own, you're nothing against supers. But together, you can make a stand. So..." He trailed off, seeming to forget what he was saying. He finally sighed and said, "Let's just get out there and give ISH a night they'll never forget." He looked more determined than anyone had ever seen him.

Of all people, it was Rachel that started the chanting. "SVE, SVE," she intoned rhythmically. Sam and Taro added their voices quickly and it was just a matter of time before everyone had joined, even Mr. Lee. As they chanted, Midas glanced over his teammates, whom he'd never have gotten there without.

"SVE!"

Willow, who was so timid but would do anything to protect her little brother.

"SVE!"

Taro, who wanted nothing more than good food, to be out of his house and to stay true to his friends.

"SVE!"

Nate, who loved to entertain others and hoped that this break-in would be the biggest show in ISH history.

    "SVE!"

Rachel, who worked hard to be the best and looked forward to embarrassing the supers at ISH.

"SVE!"

Evan who was everyone's quiet guardian, especially Sam's.

"SVE!"

And finally Sam, the member it all started with. With a start, Midas realized that if it wasn't for her stubbornness, her desire to bring people together, none of them would be standing there, chanting praise to this strange yet amazing club.

Eventually, the shouting died down and the main six began to head out the door. Unable to resist the idea that had popped into her head, Sam leaned out into the hall as they were leaving and shouted, "Have fun storming the castle!" She'd waved goodbye until they were out of sight.

Now, it was almost zero hour. Sam took a deep breath, clutching the notebook in her lap. She watched the clock in the left bottom corner of the screen.

It's up to you guys now, she thought. Please... please come back safe. All of you.

All of you...
