This story is short, insignificant, and forgettable. And that's why I wanted to write it so much. There's no drama, no dumb characters, no unrealistic 'love cures all' attitude. I wanted to present love in a natural way. Sometimes, things don't work out, and people don't stay together. That doesn't mean that Kody and Arlo didn't have something special, it just means that they're not right for each other - as lovers. As friends, they're perfect.

Like I said at the beginning, I wrote this as I was getting over a break up, and the journey of these characters represents the tumultuous relationship we all have with our own emotions. Fear, shame, pride, desire, infatuation. Not love. These boys are still young; they have their entire lives to fall in love. What they shared was happiness, comfort and familiarity. And just as I realised that I was actually a lot happier and healthier by myself, so did Kody and Arlo.

In the end, Kody moves on and asks Megan out, while Arlo comes to terms with the process of healing and recovery. Ultimately, no matter how much you want something, it doesn't mean it's right for you. There are a million routes to happiness, and a relationship is only one of them.

So, I apologise if this story didn't turn out exactly how you wanted it to. But it turned out how I intended, and I'm proud of it either way.

Finally, all that's left to say is thank you. I am so grateful for every read, vote, and comment. It honestly fills my heart with joy and appreciation, so thank you all for always encouraging me to keep going.

Until next time.
