"You've been quiet." Scott finally broke the long silence between them as they strolled down the park.

"You've also been quiet too." Anna said, walking along sides with him. She was still in deep thoughts, thinking about the things Rochelle said to her.

Scott ran his finger through his hair before placing his hands in his pants pocket.

"Should I go first, or you should." Scott said. He knew they were both bothered about something and they both needed to get it off their chest.

"You go." Anna didn't mind. She had a feeling that Scott wanted to say something about his argument with Rochelle.

He sighed deeply. "Rochelle and I had an argument earlier today in school. She was with Tyler Cross, the hockey player. She was seated on his laps with her arms wrapped around his neck and her face was so close to his. You can't even imagine that she did that in public! Everyone was there. She said they were only playing a game. Can you imagine that?!" Scott poured out his anger. "I don't even know where our relationship is heading to, I'm getting fed up with those behaviors of hers."

Anna bit her lips. This was the moment were she was supposed to be happy that Scott's eyes were finally beginning to open, but Anna wasn't feeling that way. She was more concerned about Rochelle's threat, saying she was going to tell Scott about what she had seen in the diary. She wasn't scared of Scott finding out, she was scared of rejection. What if he found out and then he rejects her, Anna would be heart broken.

Just then, Scott's phone rang. He pulled his phone out from his pocket to answer.
"Hey...." He started...

Anna did not pay attention to the conversation, she was thinking of what to do.

"That was Rochelle." Scott told her while replacing his phone back into his pants pocket.

"Oh." Anna said dryly, tucking her hair behind her ears.

"She wants us to meet to talk things out." Scott said to her.

"Are you going to meet her?" Anna asked him.

"I wanna clear my head first, after I cool off, maybe she and I would talk." Scott shrugged. He didn't want more drama. Yes he liked Rochelle but it's always the same thing each time. He liked her too much, maybe that wasn't enough for her.

"About Rochelle..." Anna stopped walking, turning to him. "I... I... I think you should see her." She said looking down at her feet.

"What?" Maybe he hadn't heard well. Scott turned to her slightly frowning.

"Yeah." She shrugged, looking up, anywhere but his face. "Rochelle wants to talk to you right? Maybe you should give her a chance to explain and make everything right." Never in a millon years did she ever see herself supporting his relationship with Rochelle.

"Huh?" He gave her a weird look. "You want me to talk to Rochelle? Since when did you start acknowledging Rochelle as my girlfriend?" Scott knew something was definitely up.

"I was probably wrong." Anna looked at his face. "You love Rochelle and I'll be a bad friend if I'm not showing you how happy I am. You love her don't you?" Anna asked him.

Scott was confused and perplexed.  "Anna what are—"

"You love Rochelle right?" Anna wanted to be sure he did.

"Ye-yes. I do, but why are you —"

"Scott listen, you and Rochelle are perfect for each other. Since you love her, stay with her, fight for her." Anna swallowed. She was fighting with her inner self. Anna wanted Scott to see through her that she wasn't saying the words with her heart.

Scott stared at her, waiting for her to joke around but she didn't. "Wait, you're serious?" He raised a brow.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Anna stared back at him.

He watched her for a moment to detect any kind of sign that she was joking, but he didn't see. "What? So you approve now?" He still had doubts.

"I'm happy if you're happy Scott. Rochelle makes you happy." Anna managed a feign a smile.

"Wow." He said dryly. "Are you for real?"

    Anna nodded...

Scott smiled. "Anna.. Thank you!" He hugged her. "You don't know how much this means to me. You know, I was already thinking that maybe my relationship with Rochelle was rocky because you weren't in total support. Maybe now, I could fix it." He told her.

Anna's eyes watered as she reluctantly hugged him back. You don't know how much I love you Scott, I really do. I just wish you'd love me back.

"I'm actually surprised you pulled your simple task off."

Anna had her phone over her ear. Rochelle had called that night to tell her the news.

Rochelle giggled. "Scott actually came to my house. He brought those cute bouquet of flowers and then we went to this cool restaurant. After that, we had se—"

"Okay spare me the details alright? I already did what you asked, just keep your side of the bargain." Anna didn't want to listen to her.

"Oh my, I can smell jealousy from over here." Rochelle said in a sing song tone.

Anna hung up, tossing her phone to the table. "Stupid."

She sighed, wondering if she had made the right decision.

Walking over to her bed, Anna laid on her stomach. She buried her face in her pillow and soon started crying.

    "Scott..." She whispered to herself.

Anna was really sad and she needed to pour out her fragile heart out.

................................................................................

Days passed, maybe weeks, Scott and Rochelle were going stronger in their relationship. Well, good for them. As for Anna, she remained behind the scene, watching Scott and Rochelle. Although, Rochelle was never in her way again, Rochelle paid little or no attention to her. And then, Garry? Garry just ghosted Anna for no reason, he wasn't talking to her anymore. Something just changed about him that Anna couldn't figure out. Garry pretended she was never there especially when Scott was around her, even though, she also noticed that he might have always wanted to say something but then it was like something always held him back from speaking to her.

It wasn't until prom night that everything changed for Anna.
........................................

"I can't believe we're graduating soon." Scott said to Anna as they looked up at the stars.

The two friends stood at the roof top dressed in their prom wears. Anna was dressed in a sequin royal blue, mini dress. In her right hand, she held her black sparkly stilettoes, her hair was held up in a tight bun, she even had make up done, she didn't bother to do anything with her bangs. Scott, on the other hand, he was dressed in all black, he had a sash and a crown. He had just won prom King. And queen? As expected.... Rochelle Barnes.

"Me neither." Anna smiled up at the stars. "What do you think awaits us after high school?" She asked.

"I don't know. What I do know is," Scott taking her by surprise, he carried her, bridal style, twirling around.

Anna squealed, giggling like a child.

    They both laughed....

"Anna..." He said, smiling down at her.

'What is it?" Anna grinned at him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I want us to remain like this even after high school." He said to her.

"Me too Scott." Anna was really happy. The night was just perfect.

Scott stared into her hazel eyes, but there was something different. Something he felt for Anna, he just could not understand what it was. "I love you." He said almost in a whisper.

    Anna chuckled... "I know."

Scott slightly frowned, he was expecting her to say the same. Why did he want that? He slowly dropped her on her feet.

"Anna I —" Just as he spoke, rain came showering down. It started without any sign in the sky.

Anna squeaked aloud. "Let's get out of here." Anna took his hand scurrying away from the pouring rain.
❄❄❄

Prom wasn't that bad even though she went alone. Typical loner, but she didnt mind. She was really happy for Scott winning the prom King title. Her moment with Scott on the rooftop was one she would rembember in years to come....

Anna was more than happy. She laid on her bed, smiling as she closed her eyes to sleep. It wasn't up to two minute she closed her, she opened her eyes again after hearing her window tap. When she heard the noise again so she turned to the window.

To her surprise, it was... "Scott?" Anna stood from her bed, going to her window. "Jeez!" She opened her window. "What are you doing here?" She knitted her brows together, confused.

That's when she noticed he hadn't changed out of his prom wear. He flew his shirt, his hair was messy, his eyes were sad and red. Probably from crying.

"Careful." She assisted him into her room. "Hold on.." She sniffed his shirt... "Wait... "She sniffed it again. "Have you... Have you been drinking?" She looked up at him, giving him a weird look.

"I'm not drunk. I just had a few drinks, that's all." He told her, staggering forward.

"Careful." Anna caught him, hugging his body close to hers. "A few? Scott you reek of alcohol. Did you drive all the way here?" She asked, settling him down on her bed.

"I needed someone to talk to." Scott rubbed his hand against his forehead.

"You wanna lay down?" Anna asked him, standing in front of him.

    "No, I'm fine." Scott declined.

Anna sat beside him silently, just staring at his side view. She decided to speak after  a moment of silence.

"You don't look okay Scott, what is it? Did something happen?" Anna asked him.

What looked like an eternity to answer, Scott finally said. "It's Rochelle." His voice was weak.

"Ro-Rochelle?" Anna frowned. "What happened? Is she okay, is she alright?" Not that she cared about Rochelle but the state Scott was in made her worry.

"I really believed we were meant to be, or at least I thought so." He sighed softly.

"What do you mean?" Anna frowned at him.

"I caught her. I caught her with Tyler. They were umm... Making out or something, I didn't wait to find out. But I know what I saw."

Anna noticed he was struggling to get the words out.

"It's been over between us, I just didn't want to see it before. I knew I was holding on to something that didn't want me. But... But why did she do this? I mean... I mean I was literally doing all I could to keep her happy even though I knew you didn't like her from the beginning." Scott was truly heartbroken. "Maybe, I wasn't enough."

"Scott, Scott look at me, look at me." Anna shook her head, "Don't say that." She said as soon as he turned to her. There were tears in his eyes, ready to spill out any second. "You're enough, do you hear me, you're enough." She moved closer, cupping his face in her hands.

"Anna I just don't get it..."

"I get it. You liked her and she fucked up, that's her loss not yours. I know how it feels to not have your feelings reciprocated, believe me I do. I'm sorry things didn't work out with Rochelle, please don't blame yourself." Anna said, locking eyes with him.

   "It hurts." Scott's voice broke.

"Oh Scott." Anna's heart broke for him. She hated seeing him like that. She would do anything for him to be better. Yes, heartbreak stung like a bitch.

Scott pulled her in for a hug.

"It's gonna be okay." She said, stroking his back.

"Thank you Anna." He said to her. Scott slowly pulled away. "What could I ever do without you?"

Anna gave a weak smile. "It's what best friends are for right? They help." She placed her hand on his cheek, gazing into his eyes. "I can't bare seeing you like this, it hurts me too." Anna said truthfully.

Acting on impulse, Scott removed a few strand of hair away from her face. "I love you."

She caressed his cheek with her thumb. "I love you too."

Scott pulled away her hand from his face, bringing it to his lips. He kissed it tenderly. "Anna..." He gazed intently into her eyes, cupping her jaw with two fingers. He inched forward, until his lips touched hers.

Anna wasn't thinking anymore, her breathing paced and she closed her eyes as Scott's lips captured her. Soon, they were slow kissing each other. Her hands traveled to his chest.

Scott buried his hand in her hair, closing the small space between them.

Anna inched away, she could only stare into his eyes.

"What's wrong?" He whispered, staring at her too.

"I...I... I" Anna licked her lips nervously, remembering this was her first actual kiss.

"I won't do anything unless you want me to." Scott said to her. "What do you want?"

Anna bit her lips. "I don't know" She was a nervous wreck, everything was happening so sudden.

"Anna..." He brushed his lips against hers. "Please... Please..." He whispered, seductively begging her.

"What do you want?" Anna asked, she could barely hear her voice. Her heart was beating so fast that she thought she might pass out.

Scott locked lips with her again, kissing her. This time faster. "You." He said against her lips. Scott placed kisses at the corner of her mouth, down to her neck.

No one had ever done that to her before. Her body was on fire, sparks erupted in her stomach. Her body was aching for something. "I'm yours." Even her hands were shaking.

He didn't need to be told what to do, he laid her on the bed waiting for her to get a more comfortable position at the center of the bed. When he was sure she was comfortable, he got on top of her, kissing her lips with such tenderness.

"I love you." Scott whispered, carefully wrapping her legs around his waist.

"Scott..." Anna whispered, finally letting go as she wrapped her fingers through his damp hair.

For a while, her fears were gone. She loved Scott and she was doing the right thing.... Right? It was her first time, spending it with her best friend wouldn't matter. Maybe Rochelle was wrong after all, maybe Scott felt something for her.
................................................................................

The sun shone its rays into Anna's room through her window. She fluttered her eyes open, but everything seemed hazy. Anna took in a sharp breath when memories of last night flooded her head. Scott was all over her and she shamelessly gave in to temptation.

She slowly sat up, turning to her side. She was all alone, no Scott. He'd left already? Anna peeped underneath the sheets that covered her body, she was indeed naked. That was the evidence that something transpired between them. She drew up her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around it.

     But where could he be?

Dina watched her daughter ever since they got to the bakery. She noticed Anna seemed a little jumpy.

"You're gonna add too much sugar in the batter." Dina said to her daughter who was staring into space, absentmindedly. Anna immediately dropped the packet on the kitchen counter and reached out for a spoon. "You're distracted today. What's wrong?" Dina asked her.

"Nothing." Anna asked, glancing at her phone that was on the counter, beside her.

"Hmmm. Your eyes have been on your phone ever since we left the house, are you expecting a call?" Dina looked up at her daughter.

Anna ignored Dina, grabbing her phone from the table. "One second." She said, walking away from the kitchen.

Anna decided to call Scott again but it went straight to voicemail. "Hey umm, it's me again. I haven't heard from you all day, I'm getting worried. Call me when you get this." She said to her phone.

"Anna dear," Dina started as soon as Anna reappeared. "You know you can always take some time off, I can manage here. You look stressed out." Dina told her.

Anna managed to flash a smile at her mom. "I'm fine. It's probably just school stress." She said, turning on the mixer.

"Good thing it's gonna be over soon." Dina said with a smile.

    "Yeah." Anna nodded.

"I'm really happy for you my baby. You're such a big girl. Soon you'll go to college!" Dina said happily.

College? Anna and Scott had always wanted to attend the same college together when they were little. Was that still possible? They already crossed the line, taking things too far. She just wondered how they were going to maintain their friendship since some rules were broken.

"... Then soon start your own family." Dina smiled.

Anna who hadn't been listening, heard that last part. She gave her mom a look.

Dina laughed, seeing Anna's funny face reaction.  "But of course we're in no rush sweetie." Dina laughed harder.
