I watched as Jeremiah and Josiah left the room leaving me alone with Elaine, and whoever...she was. I noticed she was the wolf hanging on Josiah's arm last night. When they had walked in together pain tore through my chest, they seemed close. Scolding myself I think back to how I had been acting as well, I wasn't exactly being the perfect mate. But, I am scared. After my encounter with that alpha 3 years ago I had not exactly been too keen on being around Alpha's from other packs. It was common that I would hide out in my room when other Alpha's would visit. If only I had met them first I would have been more open to being with them, to loving them, to becoming one with them. I am terrified to now, what if they realize they don't want me. Tears pricked my eyes as I thought about the possibility of being rejected by them, as much as I hated to admit it, I didn't want them to.

"How are you liking it here so far, Luna?" Elaine's voice broke me out of my thoughts. Turning to her I smile trying to hide the insecurities within me.

"The pack grounds are very beautiful. My previous pack had always been surrounded by open fields, except for the woods that lead to a lake only I knew about, so being so deep in the forest has me feeling alive." I smiled thinking about home, I missed them so much. I wonder how father and brother are doing.

"So you're the one that's been a pain in the ass to Josiah, MY mate." The blonde haired woman scowled.

"Madison!" Elaine hissed in warning.

"Excuse me...your mate?" I questioned turning around and facing her. She was tall, a good 5'7, much taller than my 5'3 stature. Her hair was long and blonde, her skin pale but contrasted with her bright blue eyes. Her facial looks didn't make much to look at when she was dressed in the shortest skirt and crop top possible.

"Yes, MY mate." She growled standing up from her chair. Stalking over to me she glared down at me. Her eyes drank me in as if she was assessing my strength through my looks. Wolves always thought that just because I was small that I didn't know how to protect myself, but I was the strongest in my pack.

"That is enough, Madison!" Elaine growled taking a step forward as her wolf pushed her to protect her Luna.

"Shut up, Elaine!" Madison growled, shooting her a look of warning.

"He doesn't even want you! He told me last night how much of a pain you are!" Madison growled, narrowing her eyes at me with a triumphant smirk.

"How is a mutt like you supposed to be Luna anyway? You haven't even shown yourself to the pack yet. Some Luna you are." She scoffed, crossing her arms as if she knew she won.

Before I could stop myself I had jumped onto Madison knocking her to the ground. I clawed at her hair pulling and slapping as much as I could with my hands eventually turning into fist and striking every and anything that was connected to her body.. My hands flew at an amazing speed as I landed blow after blow to her face. Madison flipped us over grabbing at my hands unsuccessfully. As I flailed my arms I wiggled out of her grasp. I kneed her in the stomach trying to push her off of me and change our position. Her grip weakened but she quickly regained her composure as she tried to hold me still.

"ENOUGH!" Jeremiah and Josiah's voices bellowed from behind us. Reluctantly Madison removed herself from me, not before baring her teeth and snapping at me.

"What is going on here?" Jeremiah questioned looking between the two of us.

"She started it! I was only telling her the truth, then she attacked me." Madison spoke up quickly crossing her arms over her chest. Rolling my eyes I huffed, annoyed with the blonde bimbo already.

"Truth about what?" Josiah growled, stalking over to her, his face hard and cold.

"About us being mates! You acknowledged it too! She is not fit to be Luna, I am! I've worked so hard for this and she just gets a free ride?" Madison screeched.

"Now who promised what? Because the last time I checked you were just a quick fuck," Josiah growled snapping at her. "Not only that you know and AGREED that we would be temporary until my brother and I found our mate. Just because you were rejected by yours does not mean you can take someone else's." My heart stung with his words...they were sleeping together well before I had met them and continued after we met. Glancing over at Jeremiah I gave him a worried expression, was he involved with Madison as well? Did he sleep with her before he met me?

"You are spending the next week in the cells." Josiah finished. His eyes glazed over as he mind linked someone. Quick footsteps approached the kitchen and in came a male. Power seeped off of him, but not like the twins. He was definitely the beta. His hair was a dark chocolate brown that matched his eyes. He was muscly with toned arms, while his face looked stern I could see the softness in his eyes as he looked over at me. Bowing his head he smiled at me before turning his full attention to his alpha.

"Bryan, take her to the cells. She'll be down there for a week, no food, no water. Understood?" Josiah grumbled out.

"Yes, Alpha." Bryan saluted, stalking over to Madison and grabbed her by her arm dragging her out of the room as she whined in protest. Once they were gone Josiah turned around to look at me, as always his face held no emotion.

"Cassandra-" he started, but I ignored him. Turning my attention to Jeremiah I walked over to him taking his hand.

"Can we talk?" I asked looking up at him. Jeremiah smiled, taking my face between his hands and placing a gentle kiss on my lips, leaning back he nodded.

"Let's go." Turning to leave we left Josiah in the kitchen walking upstairs and heading straight to his office.

Jeremiah took a seat in his chair patting his lap. Without a second thought I glided over to him sitting on his lap. He turned me so that I was straddling him and we were ace to face.

"What do you want to talk about, Love?" He asked humming, his fingers traced lazy circles on my arms making me shiver in delight.

"How long has Josiah been seeing her? Did he really promise to make her Luna? What is your relationship with her? Why is he being so-" Jeremiah's finger came up silencing me.

"One question at a time Little one," He smirked. "But to answer your questions, They have been seeing each other for about 6 months. At first they kept it hidden, since Josiah is not one for drama. Eventually he stopped caring and was comfortable calling her to his office. He has tried to convince me that she would be a good Luna, but after her display today I doubt it. I told him that if we were to find our mate at the Moon dance this year, that she would be out of the question, but I wanted to find my mate desperately. I did not want some random she-wolf becoming my Luna. I do not have a relationship with her. Unlike Josiah, I respect the bond that occurs between mates. I have saved myself for you, Josiah on the other hand has not. I want my first time to be with my mate, no one else." Jeremiah smiled at me warmly, his piercing blue eyes boring deep into mine. His words dripped with honesty. Jeremiah was quickly becoming my favorite between the two. He's sweet and has a way with words, he's also only shown me kindness since the first time we met.

"Have you been with anyone before us?" Jeremiah asked out of the blue. Without hesitation I shook my head no, I may not have wanted a mate before but I also did not want to give my body to someone I did not trust.

"No, After an incident that happened a couple years ago I have refused to be around the opposite sex of other packs, especially alphas. My pack was understanding and strong, they respected me even though I would never be their alpha. but other packs? Their alphas saw me as a trophy, being of alpha blood and a female was rare enough as it is. After an alpha tried to force himself on me, I had stopped going to the Moon dance. I was scared, I did not like to feel small and insignificant compared to the other alphas." I finished ringing my fingers together. I hated talking about them. Alphas. I knew not all Alphas were like the ones I had encountered, but they still made me uneasy, some were as unpredictable as the weather.

"Is that why you left the Moon dance so suddenly?" Jeremiah inquired. I nodded softly.

"I want you to know that I...deeply care for you and will never let anyone or anything happen to you. You'll have to give Jeremiah some time, he is quite the hothead and often leaves a nasty impression." I nodded at his words, they somehow soothed my aching soul.

"Who is the alpha that forced himself on you?" Jeremiah growled out suddenly.

"I'm not ready." I whimpered into his chest. Jeremiah stiffened then relaxed, I placed my nose in the crook of his neck, the sweet smell of sea water igniting my senses, my wolf purring in content at the presence of our mate. Jeremiah began to do paper work as I drifted in and out of sleep. For the first time since I had arrived at their pack, I felt truly safe.
