Chapter seventy-one: "Beautify"

I thanked Mom and Dad again before hugging them tightly "I truly love the gift this time"

My hand reached for the camera and put it in the camera bag while putting the photo album back in the gift box so I could bring it to my place

I should thank Cloud
After putting the photo album on the desk, I then searched for Cloud again through the crowd. There I bumped into Will and Jane who were dressed up as pirates

"Have you guys seen Cloud?" I asked them and they gave me a smug look before Will handed me a small folded paper

"Don't worry, I didn't read the letter" Will winked at me before Jane gave me a small nudge with her elbow
What's up with these two? They're both acting weird

Soon they both left to enjoy the rest of the party leaving me to read the small letter that folds neatly, my thumb pushed the letter open and I read "Enjoy the party, I have another surprise for you at the penthouse" he even has a cute heart drawn at the end of the letter

After 3 hours of me enjoying the party with my friends and family, it was time for me to go to the penthouse and meet up with Cloud

Brian volunteered to drive me back to the penthouse and I thanked him once he stopped the car at the entrance of the building

"Thanks, Brian"

"No problem birthday girl" he grinned at me and waved goodbye before I hopped out and closed the door

I waved goodbye at the car before entering the building and going through the elevator

I'm not lying that I wasn't very curious about what Cloud's surprise is so I patiently waited until I heard the elevator bell ring, as the doors opened my eyes widened when I saw Mira at Daisy in the living room

"Hey, girl!" Mira greeted me with a hug

"Huh?"

The two of them giggled at my confused expression
Cloud's surprise is my two friends?

Daisy then pointed to a huge pink box with a red bow sitting on top of the coffee table

"OPEN IT!" they both chimed excitedly for me as their eyes glittered from curiosity

I smiled at them before I walked up to the box and opened it

There from the inside is a long spaghetti strap white slip dress and nude strapped high heels with diamond-studded earrings with a bracelet to match
Oh my God, Cloud planned all this?!

My fingertips touched the fabric used on the dress and it was silk
Am I surprised? Yes, am I shocked? No

I didn't even expect him to use silk for this dress, silk is very expensive and I wouldn't want to imagine the cost of this entire gift box

"Now, it's time for us to beautify you" Mira winked at me

Before I could react, the two girls then started to push me into the shower where there was a warm bath waiting for me

"I'll go prepare my hair tools," Mira said to Daisy and she nodded at her before coming into the bathroom

For that entire hour, I was styled and out on the gift that Cloud gave to me

"Are you guys sure you're doing this for me?" I asked them both as I look at their reflection in front of the mirror on the vanity

Mira cackled "Penelope, Cloud paid us"

I squinted my eyes "How much?"

"A little over 200 dollars" Daisy shrugged at me before reaching for my make-up kit and pulling out my lip tint

My eyes widened "200 DOLLARS?!"

The girls laughed at my reaction

"Relax, you're the birthday girl here. Your rich boyfriend paid for everything" Mira patted my shoulder after she was done styling my hair after I showered to remove the temporary red hair color

That's not the problem here, Cloud wouldn't hesitate to pull out money when it comes to me and I need to have a little chat with him about it

"There!" Daisy said as she puts on the final touch of blush on my cheeks

I looked at my reflection in the large mirror. The dress went past my ankles and my hair was styled to look wavy at the ends
I look very different, is that really me?

"You better hurry up! The chauffeur is waiting for you with the car" Daisy squealed before pulling me out of the bedroom and then pushing me into the elevator
Wait a CHAUFFEUR?!

"We'll be staying here and hog the fridge so have fun!" Mira said loudly from the kitchen before the elevator door closes
Well that was quick, it only took them an hour to help me to look like this

After the elevator stopped and the doors opened, I was greeted by a man in a chauffeur suit and was wearing white gloves

He gave his hand out to me "I'm Carl, I'll be your chauffeur for this evening" he politely greeted me with a smile

I nodded and took his hand "Nice to meet you, I'm Penelope"

Carl then guided me to the car and opened the door for me to enter, I hopped in and Carl ran to the driver's seat to start the engine

During the ride, I tapped Carl's shoulder "So uh where are we going exactly?" I asked him because I saw that we were going up a hill

"We're going up to a restaurant that Sir Marshall booked out" he answered with his eyes focused on the road

"Hold on, could you repeat that?"

"You mean the restaurant on a hill?"

"No, no, the other one"

He thought for a moment "Ah you mean the part where sir Marshall booked out the entire restaurant?"

Oh God

He stopped once we reached the entrance and he ran out and around the car to open the door for me "I hope you enjoyed our small trip here" his hand reached for his hat and lifted it like a small respect

"Thank you" I gave him a small smile before my eyes went to the restaurant in front of me

On the ground was a rose petal pathway, I grinned to myself
So cute

There were no people around and I kept following the rose petal path until I was led to a huge terrace with a candlelight dinner in the middle and the entire night view of the city

"Woah" was the only thing I could say, every detail in the place looked so luxurious that I have to look around to admire the design. Gold and white seemed to be the theme because everywhere I looked it was always either gold or white

I walked closer to the railings of the terrace and enjoyed the soft breeze hitting my face as I closed my eyes for a moment with a relaxed smile on my lips

"Angel"

My eyes opened and I turned around where I was greeted with a bouquet that has white baby's breathe, pink tulips, white daisies, and a huge dark red carnation
Dark red carnation always means deep love and affection while pink flowers usually mean happiness and white means purity and innocence

I knew that much about the meaning of the color of the flowers because of Granny Rita who always loved gardening flowers in her backyard

A small gasp escaped from my lips
The bouquet was beautiful

"Cloud" I gently handled the bouquet once it was given to me "Thank you"

I raised my head to face him "Thank you so much, I love the surprise"

His face brightened when I said that I appreciate his efforts on my birthday, I went on my tippy toes and kissed him on the cheek before I felt his arm wrapped around my waist and led me to the table
