I hate how lucky my sister is.

I'm currently leaning against the kitchen counter listening to Lia scream about how she just won the Morningstar/Chosen Ones Spring Break Sweepstakes. If I could stable her mouth shut I would. I'm super happy for her and all but she's been going on about this for the past four days. All about when she saw the commercial, to when she applied, to when she became a finalist. The worst days of my life and that's an exaggeration because trust me I've had worst days.

Lia is reading off the letter about what is included in the winning package. I hear her say it includes four tickets, but there are five of us in the family.

"There's five of us." I state, before reaching back into the bowl beside me and eating a grape. Everyone slowly turns to me. "So?" Aaliyah deadpans. "There's five of us, but four tickets." I state. Stephan looks around the room, "Well what if you girls go and Lia can use the fourth ticket for a friend." Stephan says.

Of course, he has a fucking idea.

"Then what will we do on spring break?" Dexter asks from his chair at the island. " Boy's trip with some of your friends." Stephen says. "Thanks, dad!" Aaliyah jumps and hugs Stephan. "Now you must pick a friend." Mom says. "We all know who she will pick." I insert. "You know Lexi, no need to be such a mood killer." Aaliyah says, slightly harshly but I brush it off. I really don't care if she hates my attitude. "I'll call Astrid's mother." Mom says and grabs her phone.

Astrid is the most critical and self-absorbed person I've ever met. She literally only cares about how she looks and I hate her. I wish all her perfect blonde hair would fall out. I lean off the counter and put my grapes back inside the fridge since I'm done and want to go back to my room. "Okay, Astrid's mother said she could go. I'm going to talk with the coordinator and get the tickets and you girls have two days to pack." Mom walks back inside the kitchen while speaking. " Then we have two days to plan our boy's trips. Dex, think of three friends you want to bring." Stephen Says. "Can I just stay here?" I ask, and close the fridge. "No, since the boys are doing a boy's trip now you have to come plus it's your favorite band." Mom answers. "Yeah, now you can drool over the Morningstars in person." Lia flips her hair and walks off. I flip her a middle finger behind her back. I do not drool over them. At least I'm giggling over Noah Sterling.

"Better get ready for all the squeals sis." Dex tips his cut of water to me and I flip him off too. "Suck my invisible dick." I tell him bitterly and walk out of the kitchen.

I go back down the hallway and into my room. Why did she have to win? I was supposed to be going with Faith to Myrtle Beach for part of the week and now I'm going to LA with my sister and her stupid best friend.

Life hates me and I'm sure of it because every time I get excited about something another thing comes to crush it. Life sucks, but I do have to tell Faith I can't come with her anymore. I get off my bed and walk around it to my window seat and crawl on it to open the window. I crawl onto the tree house platform and stand up walking across to Faith's window.

When me and Faith were seven we begged our dads to build us a treehouse to connect our rooms and so they did and it's been our place ever since. I lightly knock on her window and a few seconds later she's pushing back her white curtains and unlocking her window. "I didn't expect you today." Faith smiles and backs away so I can come in. I jump inside onto the white fluffy carpet in front of her window.

" I came over to tell you I can't come with you to the beach next week." I tell her and take a seat inside the inflatable chair on one side of her window. On the other side is another one and the white carpet is in the middle. "What do you mean?" Faith asks and sits in the other inflatable chair. "Well, you remember that sweepstakes I told you Lia entered." I say.

"Yeah, the band one."

"Yeah well she won and now I have to go because Dex and my stepfather have decided to take a boy's trip." I sigh. "That's amazing Lex!" Faith beams, jumping up. "Excuse me?" I raise a brow. "It sucks we won't be together but you get to meet your favorite band and who knows maybe you'll come back with a hot rockstar boyfriend." Faith says twirling at the end of her sentence. "Or maybe I'll be in hell for a week." I deadpan. "Oh Lexi, look on the bright side. You're obsessed with this band and you get to meet them." Faith tells me.

She's right I am obsessed with them. On one wall of my room is a small purple couch with posters of the band above it and beside the couch are my two guitars and then my desk that has a tower of their CDs and their albums framed above it. Not to mention I have the t-shirt for every song there in my closet and I watch Charlie West's Vlogs every week because he's the drummer. I even have a whole shelf of my bookcase dedicated to them and all of their records on my wall on clear hooks. I'm in love with that band and their music. I even bought a jacket because it looks like the one Kenan Roars wore.

"Yeah, I guess I can look on the bright side." I shrug and sink down into the chair. "This is so exciting, I'm helping you pack!" Faith went on about how great this is while I just sat staring at her white walls thinking of how I could possibly get out of this week but I guess I can suck it up and be happy or pretend to.

Unfortunately, the rest of the days left home passed by fast and I'm now walking out of my final class before spring break. I immediately put in my AirPods and press play and a song by Cigarettes and Sex starts to play, I'm pretty sure it's Touch playing. All I want to do is drown out everyone till I can get into my room.

I feel someone tap on my shoulder and turn to see Astrid and Lia. Rolling my eyes I take out my AirPods. "Can I help you?" I ask them. "Yes, we want to go to Sonic." Lia says. "Then walk." I say and try to put my Airpod back in but Lia grabs my hand. "Please take us?" Lia bats her eyes. "I'll buy your drink too." She adds. I have two opinions: be an ass and say no like normal or say yes and get a free milkshake which she spends her money on and I get something for my upcoming terrible week. "Fine but I want a large milkshake." I say and begin the way to my car. I unlock my silver Jeep Renegade and get inside with Lia in the passenger seat and Astrid in the back in the middle.

The ride there isn't bad and I'm fine just drinking my milkshake but now it's been almost an hour and I'm ready to leave so I honk my horn at Lia and Astrid. "You have ten seconds before I leave you." I shout out to them and crank up. They know I'm not kidding and begin running to the car. "You know you're no fun." Astrid tells me as I back out. " I don't try to be." I state and back out of the parking lot. "Hopefully this trip will loosen you up." Astrid whispers but I hear her anyway.

I highly doubt it will. I'm the way I am for a reason.
