After talking with Anira on the phone, I did some walking around the pack house to help digest all that food I ate and calm down my thoughts from thinking about Anira's situation.

As I strolled past the dining hall, I noticed that there were a lot of pack members sweeping and cleaning the halls.

From what I concluded, it was probably in preparation for the gathering with all the other Alphas and their packs.

Rora was standing by the front of the dining hall while pointing at some of the tables that were being cleaned. I guessed that she was in charge or something, because some people didn't look too happy following her orders.

Without another thought, I walked over to Rora and past a group of members sweeping the floor.

"Hey, Rora! Is there anything I can help with?" I asked, walking down the long winding hallway and into the dining hall where the gathering was supposed to take place.

"You're way too pregnant to be any help," a rather familiar female voice interjected from behind me.

When I turned my head to look, Lia was standing in the back with her arms crossed over her chest.

Her long blonde hair was pulled up into a messy high bun while her makeup was on point as always. The cat eyeliner was perfectly drawn on both of her eyelids, and the hint of highlighter made her face shimmer in the light.

She looked way better than she did weeks ago.

Ever since that whole incident where Eros beat the living daylights out of her, I'd seen Lia twice.

The first time I saw her, she was limping and had her arm in a cast, bruised from head to toe. But with her werewolf healing, she had healed up not even a week after that.

She actually struck up conversation when she saw me. And it wasn't as awkward as I thought since she was willing to converse with me instead of ignoring me because of the whole ordeal.

Other than trying to make herself seem sinister and badass, Lia's not bad to hang around.

"I'm sure I can do a thing or two," I tried to protest, although I knew that it was feeble at this point.

"You're just better off sitting and watching everyone. Who knows what would happen if one of us bumps into you," Lia sternly replied, lifting a brow as if she was daring me to make another protest.

"That's true, but—" I said, not willing to give up so easily.

Just because I was pregnant doesn't mean that I was worthless and couldn't do anything. In fact, I'd seen pregnant women weightlifting and doing a lot more exercise than I had, and they were completely healthy and safe. Although I wasn't going to go and start weightlifting or pilates, I wasn't going to sit around like a tub of lard waiting for the day I expired.

"No buts," Lia replied.

"But—" I tried to say.

"No buts," Lia stated in finality, furrowing her brows and pursing her lips.

Before I could try to protest again, Rora started to giggle uncontrollably at our childish banter.

"Do you have something against pregnant women?" I asked, wondering why she was so adamant about me sitting down and staying put.

"No, but my mom had seven miscarriages before she had me, so you better have a seat," she replied with a narrow of her lined eyes.

"..." My lips parted but nothing came out. I totally didn't know what to say after that. What was I supposed to say?

"We're just going to sweep and change the table decorations, Emi. Just have a seat and chat with Lia," Rora giggled and headed off to help a pack member lift a vase and move it from the room.

I didn't know if sitting here and chatting with Lia was a good idea because I had a feeling that she was going to say something to make me frustrated again.

"So...You're older than Rora right?" I brushed a stray lock of hair out of my face and tried to start a conversion with Lia to make the silence less awkward than it already was.

"Yea." She glanced at me from the corner of her eye and tapped her acrylic nails on the table, waiting for me to continue.

"Have you met any Breeders before me? What I mean is, do you think there will be any Breeders at the gathering?" I looked over at Lia.

She glanced at me and didn't say anything for nearly ten seconds. And I suddenly got the feeling that there might not be any Breeders attending the gathering. For what reason, I didn't know.

"I don't think so..." she trailed off mysteriously, smoothing her bangs down with one hand.

"They haven't been born yet or something?" I furrowed my brows, trying to wrack my brain for a reason.

"Not quite..." she trailed off again, "...they were targeted and killed rather violently by the Vampires until they became extinct, not that there weren't that many to begin with. But, congratulations, you're currently the only Breeder alive," Lia continued with her shiny lips curled into a rather wide and canine-filled smirk.

"Oh," I squeaked in slight horror. "Well, that sounds...terrible."

"Before the peace treaty between Vampires and Werewolves, any Breeder that was discovered was immediately obliterated. But now, since there is a peace treaty, they won't try to come after you. So don't worry about dying just yet," she tried to reassure, though I wasn't going to let my guard down around Vampires anytime soon.

"But what about their mates and the Sentinels? If those Breeders had children, shouldn't they—"

"Most of them were killed while pregnant and their mates were killed too," Lia continued.

My blood ran cold at the sickening notion.

"How could anyone be so coldblooded and kill a pregnant woman and her unborn babies?" I murmured in disbelief.

Lia shrugged her shoulders and said, "Probably some half-bloods. But don't worry, Alpha Eros will keep you safe. Look at how he beat the shit out of me and everyone else in the pack just to protect you."

My face deadpanned for a full minute.

Eros sounded pretty abusive once Lia said that out loud. But then again, he was only doing that to protect me so I shouldn't complain.

"I know he will keep me safe," I firmly replied.

As I combed through my extremely long and unruly hair, I contemplated cutting it when Eros came up from behind me and took the comb from my hand.

"Should I cut it? It's gotten too long now," I asked as Eros started to help me comb out the rat's nest in the back of my head. Since I was getting impatient, I was just dragging the comb quickly along to get it untangled, uncaring of all the hairs I ripped out in the process.

Every time Eros did my hair, he was way more patient and seemed to do a better job than me. So I actually preferred him doing it.

Ever since I started taking prenatal vitamins for the pregnancy, my hair had gone from elbow-length to pass my butt. And it was a real hassle to shampoo, dry and comb.

"We can cut it a little bit if you want," he responded, smoothing down the last section of hair he managed to untangle.

I had a feeling that Eros liked my long hair and didn't want me to cut it too much.

"Do you know how to cut hair?" I would be really surprised if Eros was able to do that too. He's already a master of multiple trades in my eyes.

"I can learn how to." Eros' warm blue eyes stared back at me through the mirror, and my heart melted in a puddle again.

"You don't have to. We can wait until after I give birth to get my hair cut in a salon or something," I slowly decided, turning around to wrap my arms around his neck.

This action was a lot more straining than usual because of my gigantic stomach. Even when I wanted to reach up and kiss Eros, it was especially hard because my stomach had become a roadblock between the two of us. Thank goodness that it was only going to be another month before I pop.

Eros hummed a response as I smoothed down the dress I was wearing and glanced at the clock to notice that it was only thirty minutes before all the guests would arrive for the gathering.

Because I didn't have any dresses for special occasions, I ordered the one I currently wore online. I was extremely glad that it arrived within two days and fit my overly pregnant belly. Although it was a little tight on my stomach, it would do for now.

The dress I picked was wine-colored and very long, dragging pass my ankles and onto the ground. There were delicate lace details across the torso area and short sleeves, adding to the simple design of the long dress.

As I glanced down at Eros' attire, hearts probably appeared in my eyes.

He was dressed in a fitted black tux and white dress shirt with a wine-colored tie that closely matched the color of my dress.

Was it weird that seeing him dressed so handsomely made me a little aroused?

"You do the same to me. All the time, Emira," he huskily whispered, lips brushing softly against the shell of my ear as he spoke. Then, his hot tongue languidly stroked across the sensitive appendage, and a shiver immediately ran up my spine.

I had to turn my head away to keep myself from throwing myself at Eros and messing up my dress and makeup.

"Oh hush, Eros." A hot blush crawled across my cheeks and my heart started to beat rapidly in response to his teasing.

Eros' right hand pressed against my flushed cheeks, and he turned my head to him. As our eyes met, I could see the spark of desire ignite inside of Eros' electric blue eyes.

My fingers wrapped around his thick forearm just as he lifted my face up to him, tilting my jaw slightly to gain access to my lips. Then, he leaned down and kissed me slowly on the mouth, firmly rubbing our lips together until sparks scattered all across my face.

A pleased sigh purged itself from my mouth as I eagerly returned the kiss and parted my lips for his hot tongue to enter. Almost immediately, he deepened the kiss and plundered my mouth until I found myself breathless and lightheaded. It didn't take too long for me to become a boneless ball of goop.

"Eros, we're going to be late," I muttered against his lips, trying to pull myself away before we get ahead of ourselves because I could feel his shaft coming to life as it poked me in the stomach.

Eros didn't seem to give a damn because his mouth slanted over mine again, his tongue lazily lapping at my bottom lip before he nipped at the delicate skin with his teeth.

Instantly, I became wet between the legs. Just from one kiss. Damn it.

Somehow, Eros' kisses always managed to make me weak in the knees no matter how many times we had kissed, never fail.

"Eros," I muttered again, scratching at his sides to get his attention.

He sighed regretfully against my lips and finally pulled away to let me breathe.

As I glanced up at him, I noticed that my lipstick had transferred onto his lips and left a red spot on the corner of his mouth too, kind of like the joker.

My shoulders shook as I laughed, and I couldn't stop myself from giggling nonstop. With one hand, I grabbed a kleenex from the box and helped Eros get rid of the evidence on his face, thankful that the lipstick wasn't hard to take off.

"I have to go to the bathroom again," I called after quickly waddling into the bathroom to wipe myself off and fix my lipstick.

Speaking of lipstick, I remembered when I first met Eros and had applied almost four thick layers of it to make myself as ugly as possible in his eyes. If I still did that, Eros would have eaten almost half a stick of lipstick just from kissing me.

Could you imagine how gross that would have been?

A/N: I was thinking of adding an intimate scene between our main characters. What do you guys think? Should I?

I'm tempted but there's so much plot to go through.

Thanks for reading, I'll see you again this week. ;)
