(Alexis's POV)

I have trouble falling asleep. I just get scared too. Mummy would come in my room in the middle of the night with her boyfriend to hit me..

I do all the things that Ms.Kelley says so us at nap time, I try to think of happy thoughts but I don't have many and I try counting sheep. Nothing is working..

I crawl out of bed thinking if I should go to my daddy's room. Maybe he wants me to stay here..that's why he got me my own room. I look at the digital clock on my night stand. 3:54am. Daddy is probably sleeping...

Daddy walks in my room when the clock says 8:27am. "Hey bug how did you sleep?"

"I couldn't sleep.."I mumble out exhausted.

He picks me up and I lay my head on his shoulder. "But baby..I told you to come to my room if you needed anything. We have a big day today."

"I'm sorry daddy.." I say feeling my eyes close.

"It's okay bug. Let's just get you dressed and some breakfast in you then you can sleep." He tells me.

He dresses me in a pair of black shorts and a pink T-shirt with mini mouse on it. He picks me up again and I fall asleep before I can even have breakfast.

(Corpses POV)

She is already asleep. My poor angel didn't get any sleep last night. I'm kind of glad she's this tired because I'm taking her to the doctors office at 10:30, she has an appointment because she hasn't gone in a long time.

I hate having to go out in public and talk to people. It scares me. What if someone recognizes my voice? 10:00 rolls around so I put some black converses and a Jean jacket on her.

I put on a black hoodie and my matching converses along with my car keys and Mr.Rabbit. She's asleep the whole ride to the doctors.

"Okay bug it's time to wake up." She rubs her eyes and nods.

"Where are we..?" She asks.

"Somewhere that will make you feel better." I tell her. She nods a little uncertain but allows me to carry her in. I set her down when we get to the office and I fill out the paperwork.

"Oh you must be Alexis." The nurse says. We are the only ones in the waiting room. She nods and Alexis comes to me taking my hand.

"Right this way. And take off your shoes." The nurse says leading her to a scale. She obeys the order and steps on the scale. The nurse frowns a bit then takes her height. "Let's go to room 5."

We walk to room 5 and I help Alexis on to the table. "So she is underweight for her age." The nurse tells me. "I know I'm trying to help her gain weight but it's harder than it looks."

The nurse looks at me shocked. "Wait is that your real voice?" I nod. "Why is it that deep??" "GERD" I answer simply. She nods.

"Okay I'm going to check your blood pressure now." She says to Alexis. She turns to me with a scared look as the nurse puts the cuff on her arm.

"It's okay bug, it's just going to squeeze your arm. Almost like it's giving it a hug." She calms down a bit and the nurse takes her blood pressure and then listens to her heart. The nurse then goes to the computer.

She starts asking questions like what her sleep is like and a few more questions. Probably to see for signs of anxiety. "Well..she may have anxiety and adhd based off her answers and her fidgeting right now but that may also be anxiety. I'll have the doctor look into it more." 

I nod and she leaves. "What's anxiety and abcd? Is it like the alphabet?" I chuckle a bit.

"No babes. It's a disorder characterized where you feel anxious or nervous a lot. I have it. It's nothing bad it can just be a bit of a challenge at times. And it's Adhd not abcd. Adhd is where you fidget a lot and you struggle to stay still. But it can also mean you have trouble focusing or you act out impulsively." I explain to her and the doctor comes in.

"Hello." He says.

"Hi." I reply back. Alexis seems to get uncomfortable. I guess she doesn't do well around new people.

He listens to her heart again, checks her eyes, ears and mouth then tells her to lay down. She does and he rolls up her shirt to see her stomach. It is covered with scars and bruises and laying down only made her rib cage more prominent.

"How did this happen?" The doctor asks.

"Her old mother and step dad. I recently adopted her.." I explain. He nods and prescribed a cream to help heal the cuts faster. The doctor goes to the waistband of her shorts explaining that he's going to check for more of the marks on her thighs and around her hips.

"No no no no no." Lexi says. Her breath quickens and she is on the verge of crying. I look at the doctor and shake my head a little before picking her up.

"Shh it's alright bug. He wasn't going to do anything bad..he was just looking for more marks. It is going to help put your mom and stepdad in jail. They are very bad people and deserve to be locked away for what they did.." She just cries into my shoulder. "It's okay to cry, bug. Let it out.." I rub her back and after a few minutes she calms down.

The doctor finishes up quickly and recommends that we should file a police report soon. I know she needs to be vaccinated today but I'm not sure how she will react. The nurse comes back. "Hey honey." She says and starts to wipe off her arm.

"H-hi.." she sniffles out.

"Okay this will feel a little cold." she says and puts on the numbing spray and then gives her the two vaccines. Alexis doesn't make a peep. "Wow you did so good!" She gives Lexi a lollipop and a sticker.

"Okay baby let's go home so you can sleep a little bit." I tell her as she tiredly places her head on my shoulder. How did I get so lucky?
