Alexis's POV

I woke up by Corpse shaking me slightly. "Baby..are you okay??" I breakdown and cry. That was the scariest nightmare I've had in a long time. He pulls me close to his chest and I stay there to cry.

His hand rubs circles into my back in attempt to calm me down. "It's okay babes. It was jus a bad dream.." he tells me and I nod cuddling closer to him. After a few minutes of sitting in a comfortable silence he speaks up.

"Do you want to tell me about the bad dream? Maybe I can help?" I just shrug. "Well you can tell me when you're ready. And it's 3am..think you can fall asleep?"

"I can try.." I mumble out. "I'll protect you no matter what." He tells me before placing a caring kiss on my head. That makes me smile. I then drift back off to sleep with happy thoughts. And all I can wish is that he had always been my daddy..I think he won't leave me like my old one did.

Corpse's POV

I wake up again at 9:24am. But not for the same reason that occurred at 3 this morning. I smile at the little girl laying on top of my stomach. She's tracing different shapes into my chest.

"Good morning little one. Did you sleep any better?" I ask and she nods. "I didn't dream of my old mummy and daddy again.." she looks down. Hmm, how can I make her happy?

"Wanna cook breakfast with me? I can teach you how to make some pancakes." She nods so I pick her up and bring her to the kitchen where I set her on the counter. I grab a bowl, the measuring cups and spoons, a wooden spoon to mix it, flaxseed, buckwheat flour, oats, coconut flakes, baking powder, salt, plant milk, applesauce, vanilla extract and of course the vegan chocolate chips. They my favorite.

"Okay what first?" She asks me. "1 1/4 cups of the flour." I tell her. We measure it out and pour it in the bowel. We repeat the process with all the other ingredients and mix it up.

"I think it looks good so far." She nods in agreement and I start cooking the pancakes in the pan. "Da- Corpse?" She asks me. She almost called me dad..I mean I'd like that but only if she's comfortable with it.

"Yeah?" "Who were the people texting you this morning? It was someone named Rae? And there was someone else too..Syk-ono..? I don't know how to say it." Her pout at the end makes it a million times cuter. "Ohhh Sykkuno. He's a friend of mine. So is Rae."

She nods. "Can I meet them..?" "Yeah, maybe soon." She smiles then I put our pancakes on a plate. "Eat up bug. Are they any good?" She take a bite of one and nods. "It's so yummy!" I chuckle at her and start to eat my food.

I look at my phone while I eat and notice some texts from Rae. Unfortunately for me she always knows when something is up.

Rae: hey Corpse is everything alright? Ik it was just yesterday but you weren't in the gc this morning. Did someone do something wrong? If so I'll beat them up for you.

Corpse: Everything is okay Rae I promise. I was still a little busy this morning. I might be busy for the next few days.

Rae: what's got you so busy? And why'd you go to bed so early last night?

Corpse: I..um I can't tell you just yet. I'm sorry Rae..I wish I could tell you but I can't. Not right now..

I shut off my phone and I hear it vibrate a few more times. "Who were you talking to Corpse? You look sad.." Lexi tells me. I pull her into my lap. "Don't worry about it bug. I'm not sad, just a little stressed.." I tell her.

"Why?" She asks. "I'm just thinking about something. Don't worry Okay?" She nods and I give her crayons and a coloring book while I clean up.

After cleaning up I grab my laptop and look into adoption. I don't want to give her up I care about her too much. I turn it on and go to Google. After some time I find an adoption agency. I look over at Lexi who is asleep at the table, last nights nightmare must have tired her out.

I pick her up and lay her down on the couch then place a blanket over her. She smiles a little still asleep. I take this opportunity to go and call the adoption agency.

This is it..this phone call can change my life forever..
