Chapter 49 | Found

Eunwoo didn't stop even to breathe. He ran as if his life depended on it. He ran towards Sungjae's house.

Sungjae had gained slight consciousness when he was being moved to the hospital. His friend had told him the location of his house and the location of his secret computer room. The one thing Sungjae didn't tell Eunwoo was the passcodes to enter his den.

"The day you, Y/N, and I became friends," Sungjae had told him with a smirk. "You know... if you still remember that sort of thing. The second one is the day I went to jail."

"Second one?" Sungjae had asked.

"No duh," Sungjae had responded with a roll of his eye before being whisked into surgery. It was like Sungjae to not be fully forthcoming with information.

Eunwoo clenched his jaw at the state Sungjae's house was in. It was completely destroyed. Furniture was ripped apart and objects were on the floor as if a hurricane had passed through the entire house, evident at how Sungjae and his mates must have fought in order to protect each other.

He willed himself to continue to the basement. The rows of bookcases welcomed the Ragdoll Cat Hybrid. He stood in front of the third bookcase from the left, then he let his eyes quickly search. He saw the titles of the books: "An Idiot's Guide to the Criminal Justice System" and "An Idiot's Guide to Hacking". Eunwoo rolled his eyes at the humour of his Human friend.

He took out the two books and sure enough, just as Sungjae had told him, there was a keypad. Eunwoo took a deep breath. He remembered the day very well. April fool's day. When Sungjae thought that it was wise to prank the entire student body. It landed him in detention but because you and Eunwoo were standing near the prankster laughing, the teachers believed that the three of you had conspired together. Eunwoo was, rightfully, pissed off at Sungjae since it was his first-ever detention, but it was during that detention that Eunwoo learned a little bit more about the mischievous prankster and the three of you became the best of friends.

He typed into the keypad. The bookcase opened revealing another hidden door with yet another keypad.

The second date was something that he knew well, as it was his actions that landed Sungjae in prison after all.

The door clicked open and Eunwoo walked into the secret hacking room. The computers were all on in the same way Sungjae left them when he was taken away by the ADTOY Company. Eunwoo scanned the screen reading every single piece of information possible.

Bile rose up in Eunwoo's throat as he saw the hundreds of names of the Hybrids that the ADTOY Company and the A&A Company were testing on. He also read up on the serum that the two companies were working to produce, as well as the entire layout of the building along with its address.

Eunwoo quickly pulled out his phone and called Sihyuk, relaying the information that he found in Sungjae's secret hacking room. With one word from Sihyuk, Eunwoo quickly took a picture of the building layout and sent it over to the Chief.

As Eunwoo was writing down and looking through the enormous pile of evidence that Sungjae had found, his phone rang.

"Yes Chief? ... A passcode? ... I'll search for it," Eunwoo said as he began digging through the files and skimming through each one. "It's 082908 ... No problem, sir ... I'll make sure to keep you updated on everything in the file ... Yes, I'll make sure to download and save a copy of it."

Eunwoo sighed. "How the hell am I going to get through all of this?" He ran his fingers through his hair before taking in a deep breath and going back to filing and saving all the documents that Sungjae had found.

Changmin punched in the code 082908 that they had just received from Eunwoo. Namjoon mentally thanked the Ragdoll Hybrid as he got ready to storm the entirety of the lower floor of the building.

It turned out that in order to access the lower floors of the building, they needed a code. If Eunwoo hadn't been in Sungjae's home, they would have been stuck and would have given the workers ample time to escape through another passage or the back doors.

"You know her scent don't you?" Changmin asked. Namjoon nodded immediately. "Good, what you're going to do is just focus on her scent and take us to her. Once we're close, I want to step back- Not because I don't trust your judgment... okay maybe I do but we don't know what state she'll be in. Just to be on the safer side, I want you to stand back. Do you understand?"

Namjoon clenched his jaw. "I understand," he managed to say. That was the condition for him to take part in the raid.

"Good, because we're here," Changmin said when the door of the elevator opened to reveal the lowest floor.

While Changmin was looking over the layout of the building that Eunwoo had sent over, he noticed several small rooms on the lowest floor while the other below-ground floors had bigger rooms. He deduced that if they were holding people against their will, it would be in the smaller rooms. So Changmin made the executive decision to start the search for you from the lowest floor.

Changmin, Namjoon, and two other SWAT team members were the only ones left in the elevator as most of them filed out into their respective floors.

Immediately, the four raid members heard a scream. Namjoon's eyes went wide as he knew exactly whose voice it was. Changmin grabbed Namjoon's arm and motioned him to stay quiet, Namjoon unaware that he started growling as soon as he heard you scream.

Namjoon clenched his jaw so much that he could practically hear his teeth grinding. He tried to put your scream to the back of his mind as he tried his best to track which room you were in. But with your screaming ringing through the hallway, he had to bite back the tears that were threatening to fall as he felt completely useless as your mate.

But he knew what he had to do. He led the team down the hallway, his senses fixed on your scent. Then a loud popping noise echoed throughout the hallway. Then total silence. The entire SWAT team paused and exchanged looks.

Namjoon didn't bother to wait for the other members. He didn't even stop to think, he just went to where his feet took him. As he neared the room where your scent was the strongest, he slammed the door open. Ready to kill the motherfucker who hurt you.

But the scene in front of him was something that he didn't expect.

You were sitting almost dazed state with no light behind your eyes, blood all over your nose, and tears streaming down your face. While the Leopard Hybrid lay on the ground his lifeless eyes open as blood pooled around his body. A single gunshot wound right in the middle of his chest.

Comfort you. That was the only thing in his mind. He immediately dropped down and pulled you close to his chest. Once you were in his embrace, you grabbed his shirt and all the emotions came flooding out as you sobbed.

"It's alright," Namjoon repeated comfortingly as he rubbed your back. "It's okay."

Oh my goodness! It's been a year since I've first started this book! Thank you so much for all your support and kind words while reading it. I must admit, I was slightly nervous about first uploading this book and never expected that I would get so many reads and likes. I might not respond to every single comment but I am reading them and I'm very thankful for your kind words. Thank you!
