Prologue | Run Away

The dark night was the perfect cover for anyone who wished to run away. The moon hid behind the clouds, as if it wanted to help the girl escape.

Her heart was beating fast as she zigged and zagged around the trees and bushes in the mountain. The gravity was aiding her as she ran down the mountain. She looked behind her, trying to see the distance between her and her assailants.

A dart went past, barely missing her face, lodging in the tree as she ran by. She didn't stop. She couldn't stop. She was so close. So close to freedom.

As soon as she got to the bottom of the mountain, she ran forward. Through the thicket of trees, she saw a light. The light was from a streetlamp. When she got to the side of the road, she hesitated. She turned to look behind her, she could hear them but couldn't see them.

She took a leap of faith.

A bright light filled her vision. A loud car horn filled the silent air.

"Shit!" A voice exclaimed.

"H-help..." she pleaded before everything went black.
