I shift in my seat next to William to look back at Rose who is asleep in her car seat. I sigh turning around. Rose has her appointment with Aunt Maria today.

"I can't believe she's one month old already." William says, taking my hand and kissing it.

"I know." I rely, smiling at him. "Time's flying."

We stop at a traffic signal when my phone starts to buzz in my lap. I check the ID to see that its mom.

"Hey!" I greet her, answering the call.

"Cassy, can you please go to Ella's house?" She sounds frantic.

This worries me. "Mom, is everything alright?"

"Just please go as soon as you can." She says, ignoring my question.

"Give me fifteen minutes." I tell her, ending the call.

William's stopped the car at the road's side and he's looking at me, a concerned look in his eyes.

"Is everything okay?" He asks.

I shake my head, still shocked. "I don't know. She just asked me to go to Ella's house. She wouldn't say anything else."

"Alright then." He says, starting to drive again.

"What?" I ask.

"We're going to go find out." He replies, his eyes on the road.

The best husband in the world is who puts his wife before his own commitments. I know William is supposed to meet some minister in an hour.

"Thank you." I tell him.

He takes my hand and softly squeezes it. "Anything for you."

When we stop at the next traffic signal, William pulls out his phone and calls Harrison telling him to cancel the meeting since he won't be able to make it.

After exactly fifteen minutes William pulls up the driveway and stops the car behind Henry's parked car.

I don't see any sign of mom, so stepping out I call her, she picks up on the final ring.

"Cassandra?"

"I'm here mom. Where are you?" I ask.

"I'm still at my office because Liam and I have to finish editing this draft which is going to get published tomorrow. Ella sent me a text, asking me to come because of something important. I just want you to check and make sure that everything's alright."

"Oh! I'll go check then." I tell her, ending the call.

"What now?" William asks, getting out too.

"I need to go check on her. Can you please get Rose?" I ask him.

"Sure." He says, opening the door and leaning down.

I straighten my shirt as I walk towards the front door. I ascend the stairs and ring the bell. I have to wait for a few minutes before the door opens and the least expected thing happens.

Ella bursts out of the house. Crying. She runs past me down the steps and then turns around as if finally realizing that I'm there.

"Cassandra?" She asks, through the heavy stream of tears.

"Ella what's wrong?" I ask, walking up to her and placing a hand on her arm. "Do you want me to come back inside with you?"

She jerks out of my reach and wraps her arms around herself. "No!" She screams, crying.

"Ella what's wrong?" I ask, now genuinely concerned.

She doubles over crying. I get hold of her shoulders and pull her into my arms. "Ella, please talk to me." I say as I rub her back.

"Henry..." She starts to speak but then starts sobbing into my shoulder again.

I start to ask her what he did when I hear someone walk up behind me and I hear Henry say, harshly. "Ella! Get back inside, right now!"

"No!" She screams again, backing away out of either of our reach.

"Ella!" He shouts again.

"No!" She shouts again.

He starts to walk towards her but I position myself between the two of them, so that he has to get past me to get to her.

"Get out of my way, Cassandra." He says through gritted teeth.

"I'm not letting you anywhere near her." I reply.

But instead he starts to advance towards me. Before he can reach me two men clad in the palace guard uniforms come to stand beside me just as William reaches my side too.

"What's going on?" He asks, acknowledging Henry as he hands me Rose.

"My wife is none of your concern." He exclaims, pointing a finger at him.

"Maybe not his but she is my sister." I say back.

"Get out of my house!" He shouts.

"Easy sir." One of the guards say, moving towards Henry.

"Where's Leo?" Ella whimpers from behind me.

"I'm not giving you my son." Henry barks at her.

"Please." She gasps.

"Henry where's Leo?" Will asks, his tone final. But before anyone can answer a little voice speaks up from the door.

"Mommy?"

I look past Henry to find Leo standing there, staring at us.

"Leo go back in!" Henry screams.

I literally see the child flinch which makes my heart ache. "Just come to me, Leo." I tell him.

But his father gets hold of his arm and refuses to let go.

William takes the initiative now. "Please let him go or I'll have to force you to."

Seeing the danger of getting himself hurt he shoves Leo towards us but he trips over one of his shoes and stumbles but luckily William catches him before he hits the ground.

"You're going to stay put until one of my men get in touch with you." He tells Henry before turning away from him and towards me.

"Let's go." He says just as Henry storms back inside, slamming the door shut.

I give Rose back to William so that I can help Ella. Once he finishes buckling Rose back into her car seat he turns to me.

"Take Ella back to your mother's house." He tells me.

"But what about you?" I ask him.

In answer he turns to Leo and kneels down before him. "Hey little guy. Do you want to ride with me in the escort car?"

Leo eagerly nods his head in answer to the question.

I hold open the car's door while Ella gets in and then I walk over to the driver's side. William puts a hand on my arm, saying. "We'll be right behind you."

I nod getting into the car and William closes the door after me before walking to the escort car. I pull out of the driveway and then ask. "Now, will you tell me?"

I hear a little yawn behind me, telling me that Rose is about to go back to sleep. I look over at Ella who's staring down at her hands.

"Please." I say, looking back at the road.

She stares straight ahead of her and then whispers. "He was cheating on me."

"WHAT?!" I exclaim, barely managing to drive straight.

She sighs and leans back, staring out of her window and the rest of the drive passes in silence.

The 45th chapter! And also, only five more to go! (I updated before the weekend again!)

There was some confusion about Rose's birthdate. In the chapter "moving on" I accidently wrote, 23 September when it was supposed to be, 10th September. Some people pointed it out (thank you :)) And I've corrected it now, so there won't be any more confusion.

Also, iamnotgonnasaymyname asked if there'll be a sequel? I'm not sure as yet. It depends whether I have time to write and more ideas to carry on the story :)

The highest rank 'the royals & the baby' has been able to reach is no. 8 in ChickLit. Let's see till where it goes and how many more reads and votes it gains till the end! :)

So, Read, Vote & Comment!
