DELILAH

You spend all the days of your life 'living' life to the fullest. You spend all days hoping that the next day will be better than the other without really knowing in what sense you want it to be better. Do you want it to be better in the economical sense? Do you want it to be better for your family? What exactly are you looking for?

I thought I needed freedom, that I was being tied up by having a child; that I was stuck.

How wrong I was.

Because as I held my little boy's hands, the hands I had let go of when he was only two years old, I was reminded yet again that they were my life. He looked so handsome with his little tux, and I just knew, he was going to be just as handsome and sweet as his father.

Liam chuckled and talked with my parents and I glanced over to the other side of the beach hoping that his surprise would show up soon. Aiden was in Jo's arms, giggling as happy as a baby should be with Chris unable to hide his loving gaze.

This was my life, it was more than everything I could have ever dreamed of.

This small ceremony we had in the very place our story began was exactly how I envisioned my wedding. I was ending the year as Liam's wife; a new chapter in our lives was beginning, and I knew it was going to be beautiful.

I saw Liam head our way along with little Liz, Adrian's friend and he immediately let go of my hands. I rolled my eyes. My son was already looking for other girls in his life.

My now husband extended his hand out to me, looking like my prince. Ugh, the sappyness. But that was exactly what he was; my one and only prince charming.

And though I didn't ever believe in fairy tales, for him I would.

"A dance?"

My cheeks hurt so much from smiling yet even then, I smiled even wider, giving him my hand. He pulled me close to him, resting his hands on my waist while I wrapped my arms around his shoulders.

"You look just beautiful, Mrs. Anderson."

"You don't look too bad yourself, Mr. Anderson. Tuxedos suit you."

"I can't wait to get you alone," he murmured. I felt my cheeks flush but bit my lip, letting him know I wanted the exact same thing.

He raised his hand, placing a strand of hair behind my ear, the simple touch making me shiver, filling me with joy. For the rest of our lives he would be by my side, we would be together.

"I've always known it's you," he said quietly. "Only you... Always you."

Yet again my eyes filled with tears, happy tears and he smiled, being careful as he wiped them away.

He leaned down and kissed me softly, a smile still on his lips as he did so.

Liam nuzzled my nose afterwards with a chuckle, lifting me up from the sand beneath our feet. "You're going to get sand all over your tux."

"Don't care," he said, spinning me around.

In the cold of the last night of the year I felt the warmest I ever had.

As he set me back down, I saw two figures approaching from a distance. My heart pounded in my chest but it swelled with joy. He'd be getting what he had wanted for a long, long time.

"I need to tell you something," I said, cupping his face in my hands to stop him from turning around.

"What?" He asked with a frown.

"You deserve to have the family you've always wanted."

"I do have the family I've always wanted," he said with a quizzical look.

"Not just us," I whispered, turning him around.

His mouth opened in surprise when he saw his mother and Aunt Soph standing behind him. He glanced between the two women and then over at me.

"You deserve all of your family together."

It took him a few seconds to step out of the shock, but soon he hugged his mother and aunt like he'd been wanting to do for years.

Wedding gifts are tricky; I knew nothing else I could have done would have made him this happy. It was the one thing that had been missing from his life and now he would have it. When we decided to get married I knew that this was what I had to do; unite him with his family once again.

I stepped away, giving them a moment and taking little Aiden in my arms.

"Aunt Jo wants to steal you," I mumbled, kissing his forehead.

"He's just too cute!" Jo exclaimed, taking his little hand in hers. "You two make beautiful babies."

I rolled my eyes, placing my free hand on her belly. "I can't wait 'till yours is born."

"Me neither," she beamed.

The night progressed and the New Year arrived. It seemed like just yesterday I'd returned, uncertain as to what I wanted and now, dreams I didn't even know I had were coming true. I'd been so lonely before without knowing it, reluctant to admit that I needed a family by my side and still, life found a way to reunite me with the family I had been so close to losing.

At the end of the night my parents took their grandchildren and Liam and I headed home. We'd opted for a family trip in the upcoming weeks instead of a honeymoon but that night would be only for us.

Liam didn't wait for me to even finish opening the door and kissed me, pushing me inside the house and closing it behind him without breaking contact. I giggled, feeling his fingers run through my hair. I couldn't blame him for being so desperate; months had passed since we were last together.

His hand went to the back of my dress, struggling to find the way to unbutton it. Afraid that he would rip the delicate lace, I stopped him with a grin.

"How the hell do I get you out of this dress?" he complained, turning me around.

With my back towards him it was easier for him to undress me; the freeing sensation of the dress loosening up around me made me shiver, especially when his fingers made contact with my bare skin. I stepped out of the dress and faced Liam, naked except for my underwear. His eyes dark with lust and full of love trailed down my body as he loosened his tie.

My breath stuck in my throat as I watched him undress there in the living room without a care in the world. As soon as there was no barriers between us he kissed me once again, his tongue seeking immediate contact with mine. He lifted me up and my legs wrapped around his waist as he carried me to our bedroom.

"I love you so much, Delilah," he murmured, setting me down carefully and not wasting time removing my underwear.

"Me too, Liam," I said with a small smile, opening my legs for him to settle between them.

He pushed into me as soon as he could, our bodies becoming one for the first time in what seemed an eternity.

Making love is much more than the pleasure derived from the other person; it's giving yourself to the other completely, without barriers, without shame. It's trusting that person to take care of you, letting go of your insecurities and allowing someone else to see your vulnerability.

Some people never find that and while sex is great, there's nothing like making love.

I moaned as Liam thrust into me uninhibited, the need for each other much too intense after our time apart.

"I was going to go slow," he said with a strained voice. I shook my head no, pleading with him to give me the release I needed. Understanding, he pulled back and brought my legs to my chest and continued his assault, my eyes squeezing shut with the overload of pleasure.

I didn't have time to think much of anything; one moment I was barely dangling over the edge, the other I was falling so quick and fast that my body grew taught with bliss. Liam followed not long after, his face contorting with the intensity of his climax, eyes fixed on mine.

Panting and satisfied, he laid down next to me, pulling me into his embrace. "I fucking missed you," he said.

"Mhmm, me too," I mumbled, pressing a kiss on his chest and running my fingers over the scars on his shoulder and near his heart. He tensed but didn't say anything, allowing me to touch them for the first time. I sat up, taking a better look at them and my vision became blurry; the memories somehow still raw. Leaning down, I kissed each scar softly, scars that would always remind us of what we'd been through. "I'm so thankful you're here, Liam."

"I'm always going to be here, Lilah. Do you want to know why?"

"Why?" I asked, looking into those brown eyes that always conveyed his emotions.

"Our story is just now beginning."
