Maths. Maths was the worst out of all of my classes. My teacher didn't know shit, which just stressed me out even more. I was arguing with my teacher, Miss Coral, about why the equation she gave me was impossible to solve. She wasn't listening to me. She just kept saying, 'you should try again' or 'nothing is impossible' in her patronizing and sickly sweet voice. Everyone else around me was indifferent to the argument. Scribbling and doodling inappropriate images and words on the already vandalized desks. Honestly, I don't think one person in that class was paying attention to a word me or Miss Coral were saying, but I only actually turned round to look at them when all movement just suddenly stopped. They were frozen. Statue still. Not a single eyelid dared to blink. They just stared. Even Miss Coral, was just staring blankly at the equation written on the board. No glimpse of life across her face.

Am I the only one who can move? I can't be... That's ridiculous! Everyone's just playing a prank. That's all. Shit, wake up Theo. WAKE UP.

That's what I thought, until the plane fell from the sky. I heard it first, then I ran to the window and saw it. A giant fire ball of death falling from the sky. Only god knows what it fell on. Who it fell on. London was not the most rural area, so the chances that it landed in a field or lake were very slim. At this point, I panicked.

"Oh shit! What the hell is going on? Did you guys see that?" Of course, no one replied. They were too busy being robots.

"Wake up!" I shouted as a frantically ran over to my 'friends' to try and get them to respond. Nothing. Not even a flinch. I wasn't the most popular guy in my class, no one really wanted to be friends with the designated computer nerd, but even for those dickheads a prank like that would be pretty low.

I looked outside once more, only to be disturbed by the vicious sight of more falling planes, all across London.

I was hyperventilating. My eyelids were glued open in shock. My lungs contracted, making breathing a real challenge. Dammit. Where's my inhaler when I need it! I didn't know what to do. Without thinking, I ran back over to Harrison: captain of the rugby team and everyone's best friend. Shaking him until my arms had no energy left in them, I then realised that he wasn't waking up.

My heart was beating harder than ever before, and I really thought my rib cage was going to break. Adults always hammered into our heads about what to do if there's a bomb, or a maniac with a gun, but they never told us what to do if everyone suddenly fell into a transe and planes started falling from the fucking sky. It then occurred to me that maybe the planes fell from the sky because the people on them were in a transe too. What if everyone was in a transe? What if I was the only one who wasn't?

As I was so lost in my thoughts, I didn't even realise that my classmates were no longer frozen. I kept my distance. Whatever was happening was not something I wanted to get caught up in. But it was too late. Everyone looked... scared. They looked frightened, confused, and then angry. Vanessa - the school whore - was the first to stand up. Her freshly manicured nails grabbed the desk beneath her, her sharp acrylics grinding at the edge of the desk, causing the wood the splinter and sink into her fingers, but she showed no immediate reaction to the pain. Drifting up from the table, her dead eyes took in the sight of chaos in front of her: all the other classmates were screaming and throwing tables, chairs and bags, some were tearing their hair out, others were involved in physical fights with each other. Not long after seeing this horrific sight, Vanessa herself joined into the barbaric action, leaving a very confused Theo (me) in the midst of all the madness left to fend for himself. My feet were glued to the floor, and my body was frozen. It was only when two of my burly classmates charged towards me that I found the strength inside me to move. Ducking under their muscular arms, I escaped a near death experience, and it was only the first one that day.

Though those lads weren't the brightest in class, it seemed they had the intelligence to notice where I escaped to.

Shit.

I backed away from the people in front of me, clumsily bumping into desks as I did so. I turned to bolt out of the room, but of course there was Jenny. I loved Jenny. She was the sweetest, funniest, prettiest girl I knew, and I was glad to have her as my best friend.

"Jenny?" I stuttered, panicking about what to do. "Jenny it's me. Remember? It's Theo! You're best friend!" Jenny only responded with the stare of her dead, black eyes. There was no life left in Jenny, or if there was, that life was no longer Jenny.

With regret, I pushed a desk up against the wall, trapping Jenny behind for just enough time to let me escape.

Running down the ridiculously narrow corridors, my eyes caught sight of the classrooms flashing past my gaze. Inside them were situations just like the one I witnessed myself. Shaking the worried thoughts out of my head, I focused all of my energy on running. Running fast.

I approached the exit doors, and I pushed them with all the strength I could, and they swung open. My first instinct was to run home, hopefully I would be safe there. But that plan was thrown out of the window as soon as I stepped outside. There was chaos. Absolute chaos.
