Imperial Doctor Wu was stunned.

He began to think that Teacher Xi was joking, but if it was the case, his old friend wouldn't have come here so solemnly and said those things to him. He knew very well that Teacher Xi genuinely wanted him to become the teacher of Princess Feng Ning.

Truthfully, he didn't really want to.

He had high dedication towards medicine and had strived hard in order to be able to get into his position. There were a lot of people who wanted to be his disciple after he had succeeded, but he didn't accept any of them.

He had high standard.

Ordinary students wouldn't do for him at all.

Now, his old friend asked him to accept a disciple, which he didn't know whether he would like or not. Not to mention, that person was an imperial princess who had recently turned mute.

It would be hard for him to even communicate with her.

"Do you think it'll be appropriate?" Imperial Doctor Wu asked with a frown.

"Her Highness Princess Feng Ning is an extraordinary person." Teacher Xi looked at Imperial Doctor Wu with a solemn expression. "If you don't believe me, you can look for her with the excuse to see her condition."

"I have seen her."

After all, he was one of the few Imperial Doctors who were called in to check on Princess Feng Ning when she was poisoned back then. However, all he could remember was her blank expression and calm gaze.

Instead of throwing tantrum, she calmly comforted her servants.

It was not something one would see very often. Most of the time, the Masters would be so angry that they vented it all to the servants. And children were even more so as they didn't want to feel wronged at all.

But not Feng Ning.

The princess was very calm and collected as if she had already predicted that everything would end up that way. But how could she possibly know that the cup she took mischievously from her cousin was actually poisoned and that she would end up losing her voice when she drank it?

A 6 year old girl wouldn't be able to do that.

Imperial Doctor Wu sighed. "I'll apply for permission from Her Highness. Considering that it's Princess Feng Ning's request, she should accept it."

"This is the letter from Princess Feng Ning." Teacher Xi took it out. It was actually the paper where Feng Ning wrote, 'Teacher, I want to study medicine.'

"Alright."

It would take some time to settle the paperwork and so on, but Imperial Doctor Wu was sure that he would be able to visit Princess Feng Ning very soon. He had his own way to make sure that he would be accepted.

Teacher Xi nodded in satisfaction. "In that case, I'll leave first."

"Alright."

Imperial Doctor Wu looked at the crooked writing on the paper and chuckled lightly. Even if she was not up to his standard, having the title as the teacher of a member of the Imperial Family should be pretty good.

At least, that was what Imperial Doctor Wu thought before he met Princess Feng Ning.

After settling the procedure and so on for a few days, he finally become Princess Feng Ning's medicine teacher. Princess Lin Xie Ya was actually not so supportive of her daughter learning medicine. But thinking of Princess Feng Ning's condition and her young age, she relented.

The child only wanted this out of the spur.

She might want to try curing herself because it would allow her to speak again.

A child's naivety.

Princess Lin Xie Ya decided to let Princess Feng Ning had her own way as she approved her request to have teacher to teach her about medicine.

"Your Highness Princess Feng Ning, I'm Imperial Doctor Wu and from now on, I'll be your teacher. You can call me Teacher Wu."

Feng Ning curtsied and then wrote on the paper slowly, 'Feng Ning greets Teacher Wu.'

Her writing was still as crooked as before, but the words seemed sincere. The young girl also didn't seem to have any other intention but to learn medicine wholeheartedly.

It was a bit surprising for Teacher Wu.

Even though he had to start from the very basic, Teacher Wu found out that he enjoyed teaching Princess Feng Ning. She was quick to understand and had great memory. In addition, she was very diligent.

If being diligent for a few days was called a moment of impulse, being diligent for several months meant that it was truly her nature.

Thus, Imperial Doctor Wu was very satisfied with this new disciple of his.

On the other hand, Feng Ning was also immersed in her study. She knew that there were not many things a woman could learn in this era and all of her study in her previous world was useless in this world.

Thus, she decided to learn medicine.

While occasionally reminding her servants not to act out of place, Feng Ning spent the next few years inside her residence quietly.

Study, eating, sleeping.

Repeating these three, Feng Ning felt as if she had returned to her days as student. The only difference was that she was being served so thoroughly by her servants and being taught by her teacher meant one by one teaching.

Still, it was fun.

...

Five years went by with a flash.

Feng Ning had turned 11 and rarely went out of her residence. However, she would have no other choice but to walk out of her residence this time.

The reason was that Princess Feng Quan would be married.

How could she not come out when her older sister was about to be married away? That would be the same as disrespecting her older sister. Feng Ning naturally didn't want to have that label pestered on her forehead.

Even if she could get away not attending any banquet for ladies because she was mute, she had to be present for her sister's marriage.

Well, it was not like Princess Feng Quan would be married right away.

But the talk was already ongoing.

"Lin Tang Kingdom is basically the biggest kingdom, but there are several subsidiary kingdoms around it." Imperial Doctor Wu had some basic knowledge regarding geography and politics. When there was chance, he would talk about this with Feng Ning so that she would not be so clueless.

"Those who refuse to be under Lin Tang Kingdom had long been destroyed but the rest will have to pay tribute each year during New Year. One of them had extended a request to marry Her Highness First Princess Quan. Her Highness First Princess Quan is 16 years old. It's unreasonable to hold her marriage back any longer."

Women become an adult when they were 15 years old. Princess Feng Quan had already turned an adult last year, but she still didn't have an engagement. Every time the matter was mentioned, Princess Feng Quan always gave some excuse.

But in the end, she couldn't get away.

Princess Feng Ning nodded. She knew at least this much and tonight, their mother wanted them to have dinner together since their older sister would be married in a few days' time.

It could be said to be family dinner.

Though, Feng Ning actually felt that this was nothing more than a show for Princess Lin Xie Ya. Who didn't know that she spent most of her time caring for her only son and neglected the three daughters?

But now she wanted a family dinner?

What a joke.

Imperial Doctor Wu looked at Feng Ning and sighed. "I have checked your condition. It has gotten better, but you're still not allowed to try speaking at all."

Feng Ning nodded.

Seeing his disciple being obedient, Imperial Doctor Wu nodded in satisfaction. He sighed. "Go and prepare for your dinner. I won't disturb you any longer."

Xiao Yu stepped forward and curtsied. "Thank you for your care, Teacher Wu."

Imperial Doctor Wu knew that since Feng Ning couldn't speak, the one who represented her the most when speaking was Xiao Yu. The other two maidservants were usually assigned other tasks that were equally important for the princess.

After saying a few more words, Imperial Doctor Wu finally left. The lesson for today was over.

Feng Ning raised her hand and made a gesture.
