I ran to him and instantly hugged him. It was so good to finally see a familiar face.

Taehyung was my best friend at the agency. We started the training at the same time and did two missions together so far already.

    'It's good to see you' I said to him.

He handed me the floating balloons as if I was a small child again.

    'Happy birthday y/n' he said with his adorable boxy smile.

I hadn't really noticed that Jungkook had caught up with me and was now very near us as well

     'It's your birthday today?' he asked perplexed

     'Uhm it was last Sunday'

Taehyung laughed 'yes okay I am a few days late sorry, please forgive me, my dear.'

He turned his gaze to Jungkook

   'Hey aren't you the prince?'

Jungkook nodded but he seemed annoyed or something. 

     'Yes, this is Jungkook, and Jungkook this is Taehyung' I introduced them to each other and they politely shook each other's hands.

Then an awkward silence fell.

    'Uhm yeah well see you tomorrow Jungkook?' I asked as I unlocked my door.

    'Yea sure' he replied curt, not with cute smile as he normally did.

I waved it away though too excited Taehyung was here, finally someone from my normal life.

      'I thought the prince was supposed to be a real charmer but he seemed grumpy' Taehyung asked puzzled as we stepped inside my apartment.

     'Yeah I'm not sure what was bothering him today but normally he is really nice.'

Taehyung bend down and started to enthusiastically pet Bono who had been probably waiting for me to open the door. He was loving it, Taehyung was good with dogs, his own dog was smaller than bono but cute as hell.

     'So you're close to him?' he asked while looking up at me.

      'Hmm not really I mean he is tutoring me and we, therefore, spent some time together and we also now walk to class together.'

      'Why is he tutoring you?' there was a certain tone in which Taehyung asked the question.

      'I have bad grades and he needed an excuse to walk Bono.'

      'Or an excuse to spent more time with you?' Taehyung asked raising his eyebrow.

      'What are you talking about?' I said but my face heated up, and I knew I was flustered. 

Taehyung stepped closer to me.

     'Wait a minute, you're blushing! If I didn't know you, I'd say you were falling for him but aren't you always the one who says that love is for fairytales.'

I rolled my eyes 'don't make up such nonsenses Tae.'

I was super defensive, which I hardly ever was in front of him, this made him surprised and that surprise made place for worry. 

     'Don't go there y/n. you know you can't be involved with the subject of your mission. and he is the prince for god's sakes'

      'I have it under control Taehyung. can you please drop it?' I started to get annoyed and crossed my arms.

He looked doubtful at me and made a grump,

      'Fine but just be careful okay. and then now let's focus on nicer topics.'

I sighed and then smiled 'yes thanks'

     'So speaking about nicer topics ... how is Maria doing?' I asked, Maria was Taehyungs girlfriend and she was always very nice to me. I wouldn't say we were friends but I did always enjoy it when Tae brought her to gatherings.

Taehyung's smile turned sad as he sat down on the couch.

     'We're going through a rough patch actually. you know since the mission last time she has been very stressed and anxious whenever I go.'

      'Can you blame her? you almost died.'

      'Yes but I didn't' he sneered back

I rolled my eyes, I mean he must understand it's scary not knowing if your partner will return home safely or in a body bag.

      'You'll figure it out I am sure' I tried to reassure him

      'I hope so' 

     'I brought Soju, to celebrate' he suddenly said happily while unpacking his bag.

      'What better way to celebrate another year that is depreciated from my life.'

Taehyung laughed out loud

     'You're always so joyful y/n. that's why I like to spend time with you.'

      'I know' I replied sarcastically.

      'Shall we watch a movie with a drinking game?' I suggested and Taehyung agreed.

We chose a movie and near the end, we were both rather drunk.

    'How is uinversity?' Taehyung asked 

     'its great, I am faiiling cllasses' I replied while taking another shot.

      'youw? the straight A y/n?'

     'ywah apperently im not an academic'

     'that's fine awfter 2.5 years we can do missions again togheter' as he said it like that it dawned on me it was indeed still so long. 

      'oh fuck its so long tae' I said sad,

      'yeawh bwut try to enjoy this time, youve joined while yowu've been so young. maywbe enjoy this normal life, go date and stufff'

       'fineeee' I exclaimed.

At the end of the evening, or rather in the middle of the night I kind of carried Taehyung down the stairs to the taxi and we said our goodbyes.

The following day was Saturday so no classes, for which I was grateful. I might have had too many sojus with Taehyung and I was feeling hungover.

I was cleaning the apartment when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Would that be Jungkook?

I mentally face palmed myself for having that as my first thought. seriously what was wrong with me.

I looked through the peek hole first but there was no one, that was odd, then I saw there was a package in front of the door, rather large of size.

I opened up and saw the box, totally wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper I looked around but the hallway was empty. there was a little card on it.

'happy belated birthday neighbor'

My heart made a jump realizing it was in fact from Jungkook.

I chuckled to myself; he must have sprinted to his own apartment right after ringing my door bell.

Why wouldn't he just hand me the package though?

The thing was pretty big and I wondered what it could be. I lifted it from the ground and took it inside, placing it on my dining table.

I unwrapped it and gasped.

Inside was a brand new playstation 5. I knew that it was released just days ago, and I also knew how expensive this thing was. 

I took the box and made my way out of my apartment towards Jungkook's. I rang his doorbell. At first, he didn't open and I rolled my eyes, because I had the feeling he was purposely ignoring me, I rang it five more times  

    'Alright alright, djeez' he said while opening up but kind of with his typical cuteness. I looked down at the box which contained the brand new playstation.

     'uhm thank you so much for this but I cannot accept it' I said apologetically.

     'What do you mean?'

      'It's too generous Jungkook. I feel uncomfortable accepting this. I mean it would be more than all my birthday presents ever combined.'

     'But I want to give you this. For me, it's not so much.'

     'But for me it is.'

     'Please accept it. Besides, I don't know where I have the receipt and I don't know how returning stuff even works as I had people for that. just like I didn't understand what to do when the shower broke down.'

I chuckled 'you surely know how to persuade people, don't you?'

      'Well I have one too and overwatch is amazing to play on that, so I put that game also in the package. I saw last time that you were into those kind of games so yeah.'

    'That's very thoughtful of you' I said while bowing a little. It wasn't because he was the prince, it was out of gratitude.

I wanted to walk back to my apartment when I thought of something.

     'Jungkook' I said and he almost closed the door but then stopped.

     'Yes?' he asked with anticipation

      'Uhm perhaps while I install this you can take Bono for a walk? I mean only if you want of course'

He smiled widely 'yes of course' 'wait' he added and disappeared for a short moment. He reappeared now with a jacket on.

     'That was fast' I chuckled and he rushed my way.

As soon as he entered my apartment he ran towards Bono, 

   'We are going for a long walk buddy' he excitedly exclaimed and my heart warmed at the sight of it.
