"You laid him yet?" She asked, followed by an undefined, disgusting slurp.

"What?!" I spat onto my laptop screen.

This girl is utterly ridiculous.

"I mean- you practically live with him and your bedrooms are probably across the hall from each other. What the fuck is stopping you, Lilac Manor?" Paloma snapped at me through our facetime.

Paloma Kervensky.

Yes, that crazy friend who was egging me on to lay Kai and lo and behold, still begging me to lay him but if he lays me...well, I don't really think she'll mind either way.

She ships us. Period. And I'm pretty much sure that drilling it into her brain that we're "complicated" at the moment wouldn't be of much benefit.

It wouldn't. Not at all.

"Listen, Pal." I said, as I took a sip of my tropical juice that was on the bed stand. "-for the last time, no one is laying anyone and if you can't get that through your thick skull we'll then I'm sorry for you. I really am." I tried to show my sympathy.

"Sure we've kissed a few times and whatever, probably even have feeling for each oth-

Then sudden choking on the end of the line made me stop abruptly during my speech.

"Sorry!" She hit her chest, dramatically. "-y'all have feelings?!" She actually spat this time on her camera, leaving specs of saliva on my screen.

"Listen to me, girl. I'll give you one week, no. A week is way too fucking long. I'll be in Paris by then" She whispered herself, though loud enough for me to hear.

"-anyway, yeah- so I'll give you three days." she added, lifting up three fingers for emphasis. "-make sure you don't call me if you don't get laid by then."

Talk about crazy friends.

"You're crazy." I smirked.

"You say it like I don't know." She chuckled before picking up her phone to check something. "I've got to go." She frowned.

"O-oh well, okay. Thanks for calling Pal I really needed to get stuff off my chest." I sincerely told her.

Being the person she is, she slowly gave me a smile then out of no where, it spread across her face like Chester the cat then lifted her middle finger at me before shutting the screen.

Believe me or not, but I was in a fit of laughter when the call ended.

I knew I could always talk to her whenever I needed to. She was like the sister I never had.

Upon closing my laptop, I decided to get my blood pumping. Coming to think of it, it's been a while since I worked out. Dad had the best workout equipment, but the Whitehouse? You never know.

I quickly slipped on a pair of Fendi shorts and bra I was gifted a year ago after a runway walk and headed out of my room towards the gym.

After asking a few maids here and there, I finally found what I was looking for.

The gym in the Whitehouse wasn't that big, though it was just right. It had probably all the equipment necessary and looking at it alone almost made my head hurt.

As I run my hands across the dumbbells, treadmill and others, it reminded me of the moments I had back home whenever dad and my brothers was in the gym.

Flashback

"Hey dad?" I called out, as he set the treadmill prepping it for his early morning run.

"Don't touch that!" Matthew snapped at me, earning himself an eyeroll.

"It's heavy." Liam added, walking over to me in the nemo shorts I persuaded mum to get him for his 15th birthday and boxing gloves.

I watched as he lifted it as if it were nothing more but paper.

"They're dumbbells, love." Dad told me, walking over to us. "-careful." He told Liam, as he lifted them.

"Come." He held my hand, as we walked over to the treadmill he was prepping.

"You may be judged for being curious, my love but remember that your smartness and strength is going to take you so many places."

"What do you mean dad?"

He smiled at me.

"You'll see."

End of Flashback

I stood on the treadmill and started running for about ten minutes straight. Who said a girl couldn't exercise?

As I started running, I felt powerful enough to face my problems. My fears. The things that were holding me back from good things in life for example, my 'friends' who I'm gradually cutting off, my feelings which I'm failing to face and most of all, myself who I'm learning to change.

I swear, I'm trying to get better. I'm trying to recover from the traumatic things I've been through and even with all the money, fame and prestige that I hold, it isn't always a solution.

Perhaps learning to love again would.

Learning to be a better version of myself would but I was holding myself back.

I leaned my head back in exhaustion with my eyes closed, still on the treadmill only to be suprises to find a male standing right behind me as I opened my eyes.

"WOAH-!" I exclaimed as I nearly fell to the ground.

"Shit!, Lilac! Are you okay?!" He held me up as he stretched to break my fall. "You should be more careful, love" He smirked, hoisting me up and turning the treadmill off.

"What are you doing here?" I spat, pretty much surprised what he was doing here. Wasn't he supposed to be in school or something by now?

"Came to workout but apparently got...distracted." He completed his sentence as he scanned me from head to toe. "By what?" I challenged. Trying my best to get an answer from him. Not that he wouldn't give me one but the mere thought of running his nerves sent my thoughts ablaze.

Did he answer?

No.

A big fat no. Instead, she stared at me for what seemed like a full minute or two then leaned closer knowing what his effect had on me. He damn knew it and the same way I wanted to get a reaction out of him, he was doing to me. Only in a way that he was sure would want me wanting more.

"What are you doing here?" He whispered, in a hush, cool voice as his fingertips slowly found the bare skin on my waist.

"I came to work out." I admitted, trying to keep my cool just hoping and praying that I hadn't got any goosebumps yet. Jeez would that be embarrassing.

"I have an offer for you." He continued to whisper, but this time, rubbing his hand on my waist in a slow soothing motion and the lord knew it was taking everything in me to remain indifferent.

"I'm Im listening."

"Let me take you on a date." He said to me, finally pulling back and resting both hands on my waist, pulling me closer to his muscular body.

"A what now?"

"A date. Haven't you heard of it before?" He asked, looking at me which made me wonder if that was a rhetorical question or he was actually waiting for an answer.

"I know but it's been a while since I went on one of those and I don't think I'm really to get back to it." I frowned, as I pushed his arms off of me. For a moment he looked like he was in deep thought, trying to figure me out and read my current thoughts but on the whole, he kept a cool and calm demeanour.

"Fine. How about we keep it low-key?"

"What do you mean?"

"Wear something cozy and I'll get you from your room at ten. Sounds good?" but before I could reply, he sealed my mouth with a light kiss, leaving my face as red as a tomato.

"Sounds cool." I blushed, as he shot me his infamous smirk and backed out of the guy.

Holy cricket, a date?!

************

Hours passed by like seconds and here I was, standing in front of my custom wardrobe like a fool. I had so many clothes which on a normal basis, I'd just slip on though for some reason, here I was, overthinking and acting up...ignoring the few times I've talked to myself as well.

I finally rested on an all black jumper and pants which I put on with a pair of sneakers, just hoping this was cozy enough.

I mean, who dresses cozy on a date? Definitely not something I've done before because on all the dates I've been on, it's either you're matched with a designer outfit and bag or you're not on a date. You're on a casual outing.

Looking in the mirror for the last time, I pulled my hair up into a messy bun then put on a necklace I bought for a couple thousand bucks. Sorry not sorry but a girls' still gotta look good folks. I suppose I look decent.

Seconds later, my there was a sharp knock on my door which caused my heart to skip a beat. I know Malachi said he'll get me but I didn't know he was in such a hurry.

"He- Oh my gosh, Mr. Washington!" I exclaimed, utterly surprised to be face to face with the man running our country, the man who birthed an absolute dream guy and most of all, the only person I really wasn't thinking about despite the fact that I'm literally standing in the property that came with his presidency.

"Nice to meet you." He took out a hand from his probably thousand dollar pants waiting for mine.

Without thinking, I opened my door and stepped out. Was that respectful enough? Or did I need to bow?... Curtsey maybe?

"It's an honour, Sir." I shook his hand just praying my palms hadn't gotten all sweaty from the nervousness recently woven right into my veins. "I was just- I took a deep breath, trying to place my next words very carefully.

Okay, Lilac, pull your shit together.

"First of all, thank you for agreeing to let me stay here, I'm sure my family is much grateful as well."

"Not a problem." He brushed my gratitude off. "Anyway, Miss Manor, this may sound awkward to you and was to me as well when I agreed but I've been asked to take you over to the gardens."

"Excuse me? By who?" I asked, taken aback.

"My son." He said, proudly. It was as if they had a good relationship despite the fact that they barely got to see each other.

"O-oh, okay." I said, giving him a weak smile as he lead me towards the gardens.

"You work so well on our country, sir." I commended him, trying to spike a conversation. "Thank you, good to see it's appreciated ai?" He said, opening up two double doors for me.

The sight at which was presented to me was absolutely breathtaking. Honestly.

Right before me stood a projector with its matching white screen while the environments atmosphere was that of something out of a literal fairytale. The floor was decorated with sweet scented rose petals and garden lights which turned on at dark. As I slowly walked through, following the lights and rose petals, tears dared to stream down my face. I know I'd been on numerous dates before but something about this one felt different.

This absolutely was breathtaking.

With the garden having a scent covering it and I couldn't deny the relaxing feeling it gave off. Right her, right now, I felt honoured to be in an aesthetic like this. Everything was beautiful. Set up in front of the white screen was a beautiful white air bed which normally only princesses would use in movies and beside it was a bottle of Moët I recognised all too well coming from a high class family.

"Tell me I did well?" Malachi's voice sounded, taking me way out of my thoughts.  Emerging from behind the screen, there he was, all cozied up in a black hoodie and grey sweatpants with some casual slippers and Nike socks with two mugs in his hand.

"What about the Moët?" I giggled, totally ignoring his question.

"That's afters." He admitted, sitting down on the air bed and tapping a spot beside him indicating me to sit as well. After I sat down, he handed me a mug of what turned out to be coffee. "This is lovely." I admitted as I sipped my latte.

"Did you make this?"

"The coffee or the setting?" He teased.

"Okay. How about both?"

"I didn't make the coffee because the cooks don't let me into the kitchen and I couldn't decide on it you'd like tap water or not so no, but I did set up this place with a bit of help of course." He rolled his eyes.

"From who?"

"The twins." He admitted, a little bit embarrassed that his little siblings help him put this up. I thought it was cute.

"Anyway- he huffed, placing his mug on the mat. Any movie ideas?" He asked, standing up to attend to the laptop connected to the projector behind us.

"Anything. As long as it's good." I admitted. Honestly, I really didn't mind what we watched. This seemed very new to me considering the dates I've been on are usually meet-the-parents or "come dine with me in this very expensive restaurant." The simplicity Kai displayed made me feel comfortable in a way I couldn't properly explain. For some reason, I felt...home.

"You've probably seen this before." Kai said, finally sitting beside me on the mat.

"To all the boys?l" I giggled, almost spilling my latte. "I haven't seen this in ages." I smiled, grateful for how much effort he had put into this.

"Enjoy then." He encouraged me, slipping his arms around my waist as I sat between his legs.

***********
Half way through the movie, I found myself dozing off considering the serenity of our surroundings, the tress rustling their leaves in accordance to the direction of the wind, the smell of coffee and most of all, the warmth and comfort in which I found myself enclosed in.
Kai soothingly rubbed my arm as we cuddled.

"You never answered my question."

"What question?" I asked, confused. The hell was he talking about?

"Do you like it?"

"Why wouldn't I? It's the most beautiful thing anyone has ever done for me." I admitted, turning from the screen to face him; cupping his face in my hands. "Thank you for the best date ever." I giggled.

He wrapped the cozy fluffy white vesarce blanket around us then rested his chin on my shoulder, not to talk of the fact that he snaked his smooth hands around my waist sending shivers down my spine.

"Warm enough?" He whispered into my ear so close to my neck I almost couldn't respond.

"I'm fine thanks." I finally replied in a low tone with my face turning absolutely red relaxing into his chest behind me.

"This could be a frequent thing you know?"
I told him looking into his devouring dark blue eyes.

"Oh yeah?" He smirked.

A second later he looked down at me and said: "First things first, turtle. We didn't need to be told our lips had already collided considering how soothing everything was.

"Be my girlfriend, turtle." He begged, through kissed as his nose found mine leaving me absolutely dumbfounded. Was this what he wanted? Most of all, is this what I wanted? "I know this is our first proper date but I'm willing to give more."

"I know I'm not perfect, and many people think trash of me but I'm not who they say I am, Lilac. I'll be a better person. For you." He stopped, looking at me, as is waiting for a response. For my approval.

"I love you, turtle. I really do, and I'm just hoping you'll accept me for who I am and love me too."

"Oh Kai." I exclaimed, wiping the tears from my cheeks. "You're perfect. You're perfect for me and I couldn't imagine being with anyone else."

"So...is that a yes?" He asked, pulling me closer to him.

"Yes Malachi, I'll be your girlfriend." I asserted, pulling him closer by the neck until we fell into an ecstasy of kisses and cuddles under the midnight sky embracing the hidden feeling we knew we had, capturing every moment like it was our last.

I only hoped that with everything going on, this would last.

We would last.
