CHAPTER 17: All I Want Is You

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Why the hell did I turn into some hero all of a sudden? What the hell were you thinking Vihaan?! You have promised Avni that you're going to fix everything, but how?! Things are so volatile right now! How the hell are you going to win her family back?

Damn you, Khushi. Damn you and all the things you have done to me.

I could only think of one thing that could fix the mess I have put Avni and myself in. And even that had a very low success rate. It was to tell my parents about everything.

"What does this Khushi want now, Vihaan? She took everything from you when you both broke up!" My mother exclaimed. This was true. Khushi and I didn't exactly end as friends.

"You need to fix this, Vihaan." Dad said.

"I will Dad. I just don't know how."

"I know it's early, and you two have only gotten to know each other, but I suggest we go and speak to Avni's family." My mum said. I had a bad feeling about this.

"But Ma, I think they hate me now. I don't want to cause them any more trouble."

"We are not going to forcibly drag Avni and get her married to you, Vihaan. A small talk to explain ourselves is not going to kill anybody. Asha and Anand are pretty level headed. They will surely understand." Ma said confidently.

"You guys go ahead. I am not going to watch this."

"What rubbish. You are coming, Vihaan. What do you say, Naveen?"

"I totally agree. We know how much you love her, Vihaan. And if there has been some kind of a mistake. We will speak to Avni's parents. All you have to do is talk to her and find out when they are at home." Dad said. Wow. They seemed pretty serious about it.

Avni picked up the phone within three rings.

"Hey love," her voice sounded so good.

"Avni... I have something to tell you,"

"What is it? Is everything okay?"

"It's nothing to worry about," I said and told her the whole conversation.

"This is great!" Avni exclaimed.

"Are you sure your parents will agree?" I asked.

"I will bring them somehow. You don't have to worry about that. Just tell me the place and time."

"Let's meet on Saturday for lunch at Rajdhani?"

"Sounds prefect. Vihaan, everything will work out right?" She sounded worried.

"I have a good feeling about this, Love. I think my parents will handle it."

"I just hope all this gets over soon so we could get back to the way things used to be."

"It will baby. And I promise you, I will not let anything come in between the both of us as long as we shall live." I said. That was a promise I was definitely going to keep.

"I love you." She whispered softly into the phone.

Even though we were not facing each other, I could picture Avni, my Avni, right in front of me.

"I love you Avni." I said and hung up.

"Avnu, why such a fancy lunch today? What is the occasion?" Ma kept asking.

I didn't tell Ma and Pa what my real intentions were, since I was afraid that they wouldn't come, if they knew that Vihaan would be there.

"Can't I take my parents out for a nice lunch once in a while?" I asked nonchalantly.

We reached Rajdhani at 12:55. I looked around the restaurant, and spotted Vihaan sitting in a cosy little corner along with his parents. On that sight, my heart rate quadrupled, and I suddenly felt like I was going to faint.

"Avnu, where are you going?" My mum asked as she realized we were walking to a table which was already full. "This table is occup-" She stopped mid-sentence on seeing Vihaan.

"Hello Aunty, Uncle," Vihaan greeted with a warm smile.

My parents said nothing.

"Asha, so nice to see you! We haven't met in ages!" Harsha aunty said warmly.

"Oh, hello Harsha. So nice to see you." Ma replied flatly.

"Please do take a seat!" Harsha aunty ushered.

Dad seemed completely cool on meeting the Raos. Ma, however had an expression which meant that she had just experienced a rude shock.

Rajdhani was one of the finest restaurants in Bangalore. The food per person was unlimited here. Vihaan broke the silence by getting the waiters to start serving food. On any normal day, I would have eaten 10 people's share; but today, my appetite was so bad, that I couldn't eat the small plate of chaat.

"I am sure you must have guessed why we are here today, Anand." Naveen uncle said.

"No actually. I was very surprised to see you, Naveen." Dad said. Meanwhile, Ma refused to make eye contact with Vihaan.

"There seems to have been a slight misunderstanding between our families." Naveen uncle said, before Harsha aunty could open her mouth.

"Oh really? I don't think seeing my daughter's maybe-future-husband hugging another girl in public counts as a misunderstanding, Naveen." Dad asked with his eyebrow raised. Vihaan at this point of time had his head hung low.

"I understand why you are upset, Anand. But I know my son. He would never cheat on a girl he loves. Especially a girl as wonderful as Avni. Do you really think he is capable of such things?" Naveen uncle asked. He was reasoning very well, I must say.

"We are really fond of Vihaan, Naveen. But when you see things like that..." Ma said.

"We know that. And we also know how much Vihaan loves your family. He can't stop gushing about you'll. We aren't asking for much, Asha and Anand. Ultimately, we just want our kids to be happy. And I really believe that Avni and Vihaan can keep each other happy. We just want you to give Vihaan a second chance. Please don't make any decisions before hearing him out." Harsha aunty said.

"Uncle, Aunty, I know my meeting with Khushi looked bad. I don't deny it. She is a small part of my past; a part of my past which I don't even care about. She wanted me back in her life. She was forcing herself on me. That's the part you saw. I rejected her as soon as she brought up the idea. I will never see her again, I am sure of it.

"I love Avni. I love her more than anything in this world. I can't imagine my life without her. And you have seen how she became throughout July when we weren't supposed to see each other. Believe me, I was worse than that. I will keep her happy, and that's a promise. All I ask you is one more chance."

My parents had nothing to say. They turned their focus from Vihaan and were now looking at me. Listening to him say all those things brought tears to my eyes. All I wanted at this point is for my parents to forget about all that had happened and give him a chance again.

"All this time, we made you, no, we forced you to do what we felt was right. But now, it is time to ask you what you want, Dolu." Dad said.

"I just want to be with him, Appa. Nothing else."

"I think it's settled then." Ma said. "Ajji will be very happy to see you back around, Vihaan."

"I am so glad we could settle this, Anand." Naveen uncle said once lunch was over.

Vihaan and I had successfully muted the rest of the conversation as we were very busy staring at each other throughout. Hello! We had an entire month to make up for!

"Oh, by the way..." Vihaan whispered, "Happy 3 months baby."

"Aw, look at you keeping track of the months! How cute." I said playfully.

"I keep a track of every moment I spend with you, Avni." He said kissing my cheeks.

"Hello! Parents are here!" I said, pushing him away.

"It's been a month, Avni. You should be glad I didn't kiss you the moment I saw you."

"Gosh, I have missed you." I said and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I missed you too. I am so sorry for everything, Love." He said as our foreheads met.

"No more drama, okay? Just lots of lovey dovey moments. We are going to be the most boring and the most romantic couple at the same time. Done?"

"Deal. We have had enough drama for the next twenty years." Vihaan laughed.

"Okay, but let's not be really boring, okay? Let's be us. Let's be Avni and Vihaan."

"I will be whatever you want me to be, Avni."

Hello! Just so you'll know, I have decided that chapter 18 will be narrated by someone completely different! I won't tell who, you'll have to wait! You can guess though! :P

I wanted this chapter to be short and sweet. I wanted things to be stable before I carry on with the story.
