We were walking down the street chatting a bit more when Cherry tapped me in the shoulder. "Oh no. Look!!" She pointed to a blue Mustang I knew really well. It stopped in front of us.

A group of socs got out along with Bob. I turned to Johnny to see him really pale and nervous. These socs were the ones that beat him up.

"Cherry Baby we only got a little drunk..." Bob said to Cherry

"A little? You call passing out on the streets a little?" Cherry and Marcia continued to argue with their boyfriends. They finally agreed to leave with them. Bob turned to me and gave a look, then went away.

"Hey soc," Two-Bit was talking to me, "Don't you got to go with your boyfriend?"

"I don't have a boyfriend. I wouldn't date a soc," I replied.

"Why? Who would you date then? A greaser?" Johnny asked.

I looked at him in the eye, "Yes. Why not? They're better than any other soc I've met." Johnny looked surprised.

"So where ya headed?" Ponyboy asked.

"Well usually I would just watch the stars alone..but would you guys want to come with?"

"Can't" said Two-Bit, "Gonna hunt some action," He left.

"Well," I turned to Johnny and Ponyboy.

"I know a place where we can go," Johnny led us to the lot.

I sat between Ponyboy and Johnny.

"I usually do this alone. My family doesn't understand and my girls are busy. But it's a lot better with company like you guys," I commented.

Eventually we fell asleep.

I woke up right about when Ponyboy was leaving. "Where ya going?" I asked.

"I have no idea what time it is, but I gotta go home. My brothers will be waiting," he looked a bit tense.

"Want me to come with you?"

No please stay. They will probably be really mad," he said

"I'll be here with Johnny,"

He paused. "It seems like you guys have met before,''

"Yeah. This one day I saw he was getting jumped. I felt bad so I stood up and...punched the soc in the face. Then I helped him up and he asked me what my name is...and my ring fell... Hey do you think he still has my ring?''

''Oh. Yeah he still has your ring. That same day he went to our house and told us about you. He was so awe struck. He called you beautiful and bold and....'' He stared at me, ''He said that if he ever saw you, he would return the ring and....'' He stopped.

''And?'' I was anxious to know what it was.

'Well I'll let him do that. I better get home,'' He smiled and left.

''I'll be here!" I called out.

I turned and saw Johnny next to me. My heart thumped faster. He was so good looking. I wonder what he was going to do?

I laid down next to him and continue to watch the stars. I was about to drift to sleep again when I heard someone call Johnny.

"Ponyboy? Is that you?'' I called out. Soon enough he came out of the shadows.

Johnny woke up in a start. ''What's wrong?'' He asked. Ponyboy was crying.

"C'mon Johnny, Candy. We're running away,''
