Aliana Noelle Palmer couldn't say no.

No, it wasn't because she was a people pleaser. It wasn't even because she was shy and just couldn't speak up. No, she just couldn't say no.

Aliana had always been a kindhearted confident person who did not shy away from voicing her opinion. This particular ability of hers, along with her inability to give a negative response to anyone gave birth to a million incidents which she would rather not go through again.

"Ali, could you pick my dog up from the vet?"

Sure, she loved her neighbour's beagle, Thunder.

"Ya, sure!"

"Hey, could you please drop this by the Handerson's? They live on your street! Please? I gotta get my nails done, I have this hot date tonight"

No, they did not live on her street. Would she ruin her classmate Ava's date by saying no?

"Yep, I could do that! Have fun on your date!" She would not.

"Hey, Aliana? You're Aliana, right? I was thinking maybe you could do my math homework for tomorrow's class? You could do that right?"

She wouldn't do that. Sure she couldn't say no, but despite wanting to have her only day off from the bakery to just watch Netflix and sleep, she tried another strategy to say no instead.

"How about I teach you and we could finish it off together tonight?"

And as she watched her classmate Peter's face fall, she instantly had felt victorious, Her plan had worked.

"Oh sorry but I gotta take my cat to the dentist. Maybe next time?"

Peter didn't have a cat. Nor did the cat need the dentist. But she had won.

Aliana, Ali as most people called her, had tried very hard to say no in the past. Her best friend, Mia Davis, had even tried blackmailing her into saying no. Safe to say, a thousand and twenty-eight failed attempts later, Mia had given up.

Aliana Palmer had the rare inability to say no.

Her parents had almost given up on her. Mia had given up on her. Aliana had given up on herself. She was living with the fact that no matter what, she was going to say yes. Aliana had never expected her cure to come tumbling in the bakery she worked. And she certainly hadn't expected said cure to be oh so rude and oh so hot.

But when life gave Aliana Noelle Palmer a rude boy who had the formula to convert her inability to ability, she didn't turn her back to it.

After all, formulae and equations are something Aliana could work with forever.
