Y/n felt her legs dangling as she sat on a bench. There was a table as well as a half-eaten tray of food in front of her. She looked up, noticing three figures - younger-looking versions of Newt and Alby sat on the table across from her, opening their mouths as if they were talking. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but she could hear a sudden laughter from her side; a younger version of Minho sat there, clutching his fork as he slapped his arm on the table in laugher. Without wanting to, Y/n felt herself laughing as well, even though she wasn't sure what she was laughing at.

Her eyes shot open and a gasp escaped her lips. Realizing she was back in her room in the Glade, she calmed down her breathing and hugged her pillow closer.

Looking at her watch that laid on the ground next to her mattress, she noticed it was already around seven in the evening. She'd been excused from running for the day due to her period suddenly arriving in the morning and cramps hitting her like a truck, so Minho told - ordered - her to stay in bed and only go out for meals and to the bathroom. And who was she to disobey the Keeper?

She'd ended up sleeping the whole day as to avoid the painful cramps which didn't go away even with Jeff's painkillers. This was, however, the first time she'd gotten such a weird dream. It felt so real, like it was a distant memory. Considering the creators had messed with their brains, she wouldn't be surprised if they were.

But that meant she knew Minho, Alby and Newt before the Maze, which confused her - were they classmates? What were they doing in a cafeteria of all places?

A sudden knock on her door shook her out of her thoughts. ''Y/n! I brought you dinner, shank, are you decent?''

''Come in,'' Y/n invited Minho in as she sat up. The pain had subdued, thankfully, but she still wasn't in the best shape. Maybe she would have to skip out tomorrow as well, though she felt bad that she was ditching Minho.

Minho walked in with two plates in hand, kicking the door closed behind him. He didn't have his vest on, meaning he was completely done with his Runner duties for the day.

''You feeling better?'' Minho asked, handing her one of the plates before sitting on the ground and leaning on the mattress.

''I feel like I've been run over by a Griever.''

''How would you even know how that feels like?''

''Believe me, if you were experiencing the pain I was right now, you would understand.''

''Fair.''

Silence fell between the two as they dug in their dinner - Frypan's stew wasn't the best, even though he claimed it was, but they had no other option. Y/n took a look at Minho, watching him as he dug into his food for a moment too long. Quickly, to avoid being noticed, she cleared her throat. ''You discovered something new?'' asked Y/n, breaking the silence.

''No. Those corridors we started exploring lead to a solid wall, so it's useless as well.''

Y/n couldn't help but sigh. ''There really is no hope, is there?''

Minho pursed his lips and nodded. ''Most likely.'' Then he shoved another spoonful of stew in his mouth.

Y/n thought back to the weird dream she had and looked at Minho, changing the depressing topic. ''Have you ever had weird dreams?''

''Weird in what way?'' Minho raised an eyebrow, giving her a funny look.

''Not like that, you pervert.'' Y/n slapped the back of his head, causing Minho to laugh. ''I mean, like, I had this dream - it was nothing fancy, really, but it felt so real. Almost like . . . a memory.''

Minho thought for a moment before nodding. ''Just bits and pieces. A lot of people have gotten some, but no one knows for sure if it's real memories or just our minds making up things to fill the gaps.''

''Oh, I see.'' Y/n nodded as she played around with her stew. ''Weird, why would my brain fill in gaps with you of all people?''

''Oh?'' Minho looked back at her, a smirk on his lips. ''You dreaming of me now, shank? I know I'm handsome and all, but really, take me out on a date first.''

''Shut up, I could puke just by looking at your shuck face.'' Y/n fake gagged, causing Minho to pout playfully. That was a lie, of course, but whatever got Minho riled up. As she laughed at his face, she felt another cramp hit and she quickly put her half-eaten stew down to lay down and curl into herself. ''You know, I'd rather be ran over by a griever for real instead of feeling this.''

''Pills didn't help?'' Y/n shook her head. ''Anything else I can bring you?''

Minho was a cocky bastard; sarcastic and funny were the main components of his character. But in moments like these, where he was so caring towards her, did she truly not feel alone in the hell called the Glade. And the fact he mostly kept that side of his reserved for her oftentimes caused her to smile, making her want to laugh like a middle schooler with a crush.

''Could you maybe fill up one of the water bottles we use for running with really warm water and bring it? And maybe ask Jeff for more painkillers?''

Minho quickly stood up, leaving his half-eaten stew on the ground next to hers. ''On it, shuckface. You think of ways to repay me until I come back.''

''I think my mere existence is repayment enough, no?''

''If that helps you sleep at night.''

Y/n snorted as she watched him walk out of the room. Sweet Minho doesn't usually last for long, but she tries to treasure the times when he makes an appearance.

There was a knock on her door. ''Y/n? You sleepin'?''

''No, I'm suffering. Come in.''

Newt walked in, closing the door behind him. He noticed her fetal position and sighed. ''I take it you're not doing better?'' Y/n shook her head. Newt noticed the two plates on the ground. ''Where's Minho? Did he ditch you to bring the plates back by yourself?''

''Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls that.'' Y/n laughed at the suggestion. ''No, he went to get me more painkillers and warm water. Such a nice shank, no?''

Newt snorted. ''Yeah.'' Too nice, if I have to be honest. ''Well, I'll be in my room. If you need anything, just call me - pretty sure I'll be able to hear ya.'' Y/n nodded and Newt walked out, taking one last look at the ditched plates on the ground. He shook his head with a smile before closing the door.
