The next time Y/n woke up, she was in a bed.

Her eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the light. She slowly looked around, noticing she was in a small room with two beds. Her eyes fell on the other one, on the person next to her. Newt laid there, his jacket gone, leaving him in a long sleeved shirt. He was covered by a blanket and was snoring slightly, his dark veins gone from his neck.

She sat up quickly, pulling down her sleeves. Her own veins had returned to normal and she touched around her neck. The rash was gone, too. Her head didn't hurt. She could feel her limbs. She felt warm again.

Swinging her legs over the bed, Y/n quickly stood up and walked out, trying not to disturb Newt in his sleep. She looked left and right, unsure of where to go first. Where was she, anyway? She looked ahead, seeing a window right across from her. She took a step, then another and another until she was right in front of the window, her mouth hanging open.

They were in the open sea, in the ship they'd been preparing to take off with before Minho's rescue mission. She pressed her hand to the glass, watch in wonder as the waves crashed in each other.

Was she dead? Was this what the after-life looked like? Was Newt dead, too?

''Y/n?''

Her head snapped to the voice, her eyes falling on Minho, who was carrying two bottles of water in his hands. They stood there for a moment, unmoving, taking each other in. She stared in his eyes — they didn't look so tired anymore. His face wasn't as pale as she remembered. His hair was fixed and clean.

She took a step forward and he took one, too. He dropped the bottles as he hurried to wrap his arms around her, almost lifting her from the ground. She wrapped her arms around him slowly, not believing what had happened.

''Minho?'' she asked and he hummed against her neck. ''Did we make it? Are we alive?''

Minho pulled away for a moment, cupping her cheek with one of his hands. ''We're alive, darlin'.''

The sob rose up from her chest involuntarily. She let it out, as well as the tears as she fell back into Minho, relief flooding through her body. She squeezed him tight, almost scared that if she let go, he'd disappear. She hid her face in the crook of his neck, sobbing loudly at the realization. She was alive. Newt was alive and so was Minho. They were going to the Safe Heaven. They survived.

Y/n sat next to Minho and Jorge as she skinned down a stick Jorge had told her to. Her hand still stung at times from the cuts from the Bliss vial, but she tried her best to ignore it as she chuckled on a dumb joke Jorge had just told them.

Minho suddenly stooped what he was doing, bumping his knee with Y/n's. Her head snapped to him. ''Hey, careful! I almost skinned my fingers!''

''Look.'' Minho stood up and she followed his line of sight, seeing Thomas come down from the new Med-Hut.

''Shuck,'' Y/n said as she dropped her things, jogging over to join Minho and Newt, who now stood in front of Thomas.

Thomas looked at the three, his three closest people. Newt, Y/n and Minho stood in front of him, alive and well. Newt laughed at Thomas' shocked expression and pulled him for a hug, beckoning for Y/n and Minho to join. Y/n almost felt like crying again.

They pulled away, Y/n and Thomas' eyes meeting. ''Thank you for saving us, slinthead. Despite how dumb it was for you to go back.''

Thomas pursed his lips. ''It was . . . It was all Teresa.''

Y/n smiled, a burning feeling in her throat appearing.

''We have come a long way together,'' Vince spoke as he stood in front of the bone fire they'd created, looking up at all survivors. ''So many have sacrificed so much to make this place possible. Your friends and your family.''

Y/n looked up at Minho. She squeezed his free hand as each of them held a cup. Chuck. Alby. Winston, Jeff, Theo, Lucas, Zart, Clint, Ben.

Vince raised up his cup in a toast. ''So here's to the ones who couldn't be here.'' Everyone followed suit, raising up their drinks. ''Here's to the friends we lost. This place is for you. For all of us.'' He pointed back with a knife, showing off the big rock they'd set in front of the bonfire. ''But this — this is for them. So, in your own time, in your own way, come make your peace. And welcome to the Safe Heaven!''

Cheers erupted from the survivors and everyone broke off to do their own thing. Minho, Newt, Thomas and Y/n sat down under one of the tents, watching over the camp. It felt kind of like in the Glade, expect there were new people and no more walls.

''Can't believe we actually made it,'' Minho commented as he rubbed his thumb on the back of Y/n's hand. ''We're a long way from the Glade now.''

''A very long way,'' Y/n agreed. ''I wish the others could've been here.''

Thomas nodded in agreement. ''Chuck deserved it.''

''They all did,'' Newt said and the four fell into silence. He suddenly stood up and turned to face his friends, taking off something from around his neck. It was a necklace with a small glass jar at the end, closed with a cork. Inside were a few sheets of paper that Newt took out. The three watched as he dropped the necklace on the ground and opened the paper, scanning it for a moment before he started ripping it apart as small as he could.

''What was that?'' Y/n asked as she watched him return from a nearby fire, where he'd thrown the remains.

He took his seat down next to Thomas again, looking at the sky with a smile on his face. ''It doesn't really matter anymore. Forget it.'' Y/n had an inkling about what it was — they all did — but collectively, they decided not to mention it.

Y/n slapped her tights and stood up, turning to look to the others as well. ''I've got something to do as well. I'll be back in a minute.''

She didn't give them any time for any questioning. She trotted down towards the bone fire, walking past it and towards the the rock. There were a few names there already. Jeff. Rachel, Aris' friend from the Maze. Chuck's name was there, Gally had put it on there earlier. Ben. Clint. Winston. Theo. Zart. A lot of other names she didn't recognize.

She walked over to the knife put on a small table next to the rock and took her hand out of her jacket to pick it up. She threw it up once or twice to check out how light it was. Then she looked at the rock, seeing a free space around where the other Gladers' names were.

She started carving the rock. Most of the letters were easy, except R and S. Despite that, she didn't take long to carve the full name. She stood up, looking at Teresa's name that was now carven in as well. She hated this. She was supposed to hate Teresa, but now she was in her debt. ''I don't understand why you cared so much to keep me alive, but thank you. You were a shitty person with shitty morals, but maybe you don't deserve to burn in hell that bad.'' Y/n laughed at herself, realizing Teresa probably wouldn't be able to hear her and she was just talking to her name carved on a rock. She put the knife down, took one last look at the name and walked away.

The others were gone when she returned, but she saw Thomas and Newt walking towards Gally, laughing together. She smiled, her eyes scanning around looking for her person.

''You looking for me, gorgeous?''

Y/n turned around, a big smile on her face now. ''No, I was looking for Gally. Got to have a few words with him about his sudden rise from the dead. How does that work?''

''I asked him and he just told me 'nobody's perfect', clapped my shoulder and walked away,'' Minho explained as he took her hand, leading her away from the bone fire. ''At this point I'm starting to think he might be crazier than you.''

Y/n gasped in offense and slapped his shoulder, facing away from him, but still holding tightly on his hand. ''And I thought you loved me. No one's crazier than me, remember?''

''True that,'' Minho nodded in agreement. ''But your craziness is just one of the things I love about you.''

Y/n grimaced at him. ''Why're you so mushy mushy all of the sudden?''

Their feet reached the sand as they walked down to the sea, stopping close in front of the waves. They looked ahead and Minho wrapped one arm around her shoulders, so she let hers wrap around his waist.

''You know, seeing the sea with you here makes the experience much better,'' Y/n said, leaning her head on his shoulder. ''Ten out of ten, would recommend.''

Minho snorted. ''Yeah, definitely beats sitting at the Watch Tower and trying to see the three stars in the sky.''

''Hey, don't shit on the Watch Tower, we've had great memories there.'' Y/n said before she looked around them, just in case. ''Some we shouldn't speak of in front of other people, actually.''

''Yeah, it was great, but I'm glad it's over,'' Minho said, pressing a kiss to her head. ''We don't have to run anymore.''

''It's weird that we're not Runners anymore, though,'' Y/n said. ''But this seems much more exciting than exploring the Maze over and over again. You think Vince would let us go on supply runs so we can check out remaining towns around?''

''We should definitely ask, after I learn how to drive,'' Minho said. ''I don't trust you driving.''

Y/n was about to counter before she shrugged. ''To be fair, I don't trust myself, either.''

Minho slid his arm to her waist, wrapping the other one around her as well and pulling her in. ''You know it can be like our honeymoon trip. Just the two of us.''

Her eyes widened at his words. Her heartbeat quickened. What? ''Honeymoon? Are you proposing all of the sudden?''

Minho shrugged. ''Maybe. Maybe not.''

She slapped his chest. ''Minho!''

He laughed at her reaction. ''Chill, woman, we just got here, jeez!'' Minho said and she took her hands back, letting them rest on his neck. He smiled at her, that smile she loved and craved so much. She could barely see it in the dark, but she could picture it, anyway. ''Proposal or not, you know you're the only one I'd want to spend the rest of my life with.''

Y/n smiled at his words, her cheeks warming up and her stomach turning. ''And you're the one for me, Minho. I love you so much.''

''I love you even more.'' And then Minho leaned in, pressing his lips to hers hard, tipping her down slightly. She laughed in the kiss, running her fingers through his hair.

Minho and Y/n had survived through the Maze, through the Scorch and through WICKED. They'd lost a lot, almost died many times and will carry those burdens for the rest of their lives. But now, as they stood under the stars and kissed, they felt as free as they thought the stars were back in the Glade.

All was well.
