She'd heard the others being led out a long time ago, yet she was still being checked. She'd received check-ups, shots and her hands were re-bandaged. She wondered where the others had been brought, if she was going to see them again anytime soon. Was Minho okay? Newt, Thomas, Frypan? Winston? What about Teresa? She was brought out, too, so Y/n wondered why they were taking so long with her.

''Okay, one last thing,'' Dr. Sanchez said as she took a needle - probably the fifth one today - and prepped Y/n's arm again. She winced and looked away, feeling her fingers trembling. The doctor quickly took a bandaid and put over the small wound. ''There, there, it's alright.''

''Dr. Sanchez?'' a male voice spoke from behind the curtain. ''Janson would like a word with Y/n. Are you done?''

The doctor quickly pulled the curtains away, revealing a muscular and intimidating man standing in front of them. ''Yes, you can take her.''

Y/n clenched her jaw as she followed after the man. She wished she'd kept one of her pocket knifes from the Maze, but they'd taken all of her gear before she showered. If that man decided to attack her right then and there, she wouldn't even try to save herself.

She was led to a room with a table and two chairs on opposite sides. She was told to sit and wait and that's what she did. Her hands were still cold and she put them between her thighs, bouncing one of her legs. Not too long after the door opened and Janson walked in, wearing a white polo shirt and holding a clip board.

''Hello, Y/n,'' Janson said as he took a seat opposite of her. ''How are you?''

''I'm fine,'' Y/n answered flatly. ''What do you want to talk about?''

''Straight to the point, alright,'' Janson said as he flipped a paper on his clipboard, then looked back at her. ''What do you remember about WICKED?''

WICKED. She remembered things about them, alright. ''Am I supposed to remember something? They erased my memories.'' Just because she knew things, didn't mean she trusted the people enough to spill everything.

''From what I've heard from the others, they seem to remember things,'' Janson reasoned. ''Is the case different with you?''

''Maybe,'' asked Y/n as she leaned back in her chair. ''I just remember a cafeteria, though I doubt that'd be of use to you.''

Janson quickly took a note of her words. ''Are you sure that's all you remember? Thomas knew much more.''

''Thomas is a shank and stung himself, that's why he remembers,'' Y/n said. ''I never got stung. I've got nothing to do with Thomas.'' But she did have something to do with him and maybe those people knew that. Were they trying to pry out a confession from her? There was a slight ache forming in the back of her brain, but she tried her best to ignore it.

Janson nodded. ''I see. Thank you for your cooperativeness. Someone will bring you to the others.''

She was amazed at the amount of people - both boys and girls - sitting around the cafeteria and chatting leisurely. The double doors closed behind her, startling her slight and causing her to take a step away from them. Two men now stood in front of them, blocking the exit.

''Y/n!'' She looked back and saw Minho jogging up to her, smile on his face. ''Good, you're okay. I was starting to get worried.''

Y/n let him grab her hand and lead her towards the others. ''What's going on?''

''There were more mazes,'' Minho explained. ''We weren't the only ones.''

''That guy over there,'' an unfamiliar boy sitting with her friends spoke as he looked back. There was a boy who sat alone with his hood pulled up. ''He's been here for a week. His maze was nothing but girls.''

Minho looked back at the two unfamiliar boys in surprise as he and Y/n were sitting down. ''Really?'' Y/n's mouth hung open in offense and she slapped Minho's chest, picking up a fork and starting to eat from the tray Minho had saved for her.

''Some guys have all the luck,'' the guy spoke before looking at Y/n. ''Were you guys a mixed maze? Where're the other chicks?''

Y/n gulped down her food. ''No, it was just me. The rest were all boys.''

The other unfamiliar boy furrowed his eyebrows. ''Just you? Were you also the last one ever?''

''No, there was another girl,'' Thomas spoke. ''Where's Teresa, by the way?''

''I was there for a year and a half before we escaped,'' Y/n said, continuing to eat her food. ''Dunno why.''

The first unfamiliar boy spoke. ''Weird.''

''Good evening, gentlemen. Ladies.'' Janson entered the room along with two other men and a clipboard in hand. Everyone turned to listen to him, so Y/n did the same. ''You all know how this works. If you hear your name called, please rise in an orderly fashion, join my colleagues behind me where they will escort you to the eastern wing. Your new lives are about to begin!''

Some people clapped, some started murmuring with their friends. Janson started reading out names and the people called were congratulated as they went to Janson's colleagues. About eight people made it to the front and the rest started whispering in disappointment. Janson told them not to get discouraged and that their time will come as well, then led the lucky kids away and, supposedly, to their new lives.

''Where're they going?'' asked Minho for all confused Gladers. They explained there was a safe space far from here and they were taking all kids there, but they couldn't take more than a handful at a time.

As the boys continued talking, Y/n's chewing slowed down as she felt the ache in her head start to grow. She put her fork down and put a hand over her forehead, looking down at her food.

''What the hell?'' Thomas suddenly spoke and got up. ''Teresa!''

''Y/n, you okay?'' Minho suddenly spoke, but she couldn't look up at him. ''Y/n?''

''My head hurts,'' Y/n spoke quietly. ''Does anyone have water?''

Newt quickly took his almost full glass and handed it to her. Minho helped her so she wouldn't drop or spill it. She drank the whole cup, but the headache seemed to only be getting stronger.

As they were led to their room, Minho kept his arm around Y/n in case she decided to topple on the ground and Newt walked on her other side as a second pre-caution. Y/n could barely keep her eyes open anymore and her legs felt heavy.

Once inside the room, Minho led her to the first lower bunk he spotted and helped her lay down. Her eyes were closed and she felt like she was slipping out of consciousness, but she could still hear Minho and Newt talking.

''What the hell did they do to her?'' Minho, who was putting a blanket over her frame, asked. ''She was fine just a few minutes ago, what happened?''

''Maybe she's having a reaction to some of the medications, it's normal if you've been deprived of it for so long,'' Newt reasoned. There was a small pause before he spoke again. ''I think.''

She felt Minho's warm hand on her forehead. ''She doesn't have a fever or anything.''

''Then maybe she's just tired. We've been through a lot, Minho. Some rest will do us all some good.'' The last thing she felt before she slipped into unconsciousness was Minho getting up from the bed and taking off her shoes.

''You'll be okay. I love you.''

''WICKED is good.''

''I'm Minho, these are Newt and Alby.''

''You shouldn't be afraid of needles, they won't harm you.''

''WICKED is good.''

''I'm faster than Newt, right, Y/n?''

''Let's play rock paper scissors for your mashed potatoes, I want them.''

''You're really cool, Y/n.''

''WICKED is good.''

''Come on, Y/n, we're gonna help Newt sneak in and see his sister. You coming, right?''

''Y/n, I found a window, do you wanna go look out of it?''

''I like you. I'm serious.''

''Minho's an idiot.''

''Y/n, have you met Chuck yet?''

''Where's Thomas?''

''I can't do this anymore.''

''I'll miss you.''

''Stay safe.''

''I don't want to go either.''

''WICKED is good.''

Memories started flooding into her brain as if someone was pouring them in. They were going quick and were out of order, confusing Y/n completely. One memory, however, stuck out to her.

She was in a room surrounded by tanks filled with water. Looking behind her, she saw Thomas frantically preparing some needles. She looked down and noticed her old clothes, the one she'd arrived in the Glade in, but they were new, clean and soft.

Thomas turned around, holding a needle in his hand. ''Y/n, are you sure you want to do this? They'll never approve.''

''That's why I'm doing it behind their back,'' Y/n said as she rolled up her sleeve. ''I can't do this anymore, okay? I can't keep watching them. I can't keep doing nothing. I miss him, okay, Thomas?''

''What if they just take you out?'' asked Thomas. ''And then you get punished.''

Y/n shook her head. ''They won't. They'd have to kill me so it wouldn't look suspicious.''

''How are you so sure of everything?'' asked Thomas. ''Aren't you scared?''

Y/n snorted. ''Of course I'm scared. But I don't care anymore.'' There was a moment of silence before she continued. ''Thank you so much for helping me, Thomas.''

He shook his head. ''Don't thank me. I'll try my best to convince them it's a good idea that you're going there so they won't kill you off.''

Y/n nodded. ''Just don't overdo it. Don't make them kill you.''

''Let's go to the box before they bring Jack in,'' Thomas said as the two quickly ran over to the rusty old metal box. There were pig squeals coming from inside one of of the wooden crates, but they didn't let the animal bother them. Y/n quickly got inside and Thomas took her arm, carefully lining the syringe to her vein and pressing so half the liquid entered Y/n's bloodstream. It took seconds before she started feeling drowsy.

''Thank you, Thomas.'' And then her back hit the metal grid.

Her eyes flew open as she quickly sat up in her bed. She felt like her throat was filled with water and started coughing, trying to get it out despite there being no water at all. There were shuffles from above and then feet appeared on the ladder leading to the top bunk.

''Hey, hey, you alright?'' Minho was by her side in a moment, rubbing her back and letting her finish her coughing fit. She finally calmed down and leaned her side on him. He ran a hand through her hair, asking, ''What happened?''

Y/n wasn't sure herself. She looked up at him, barely being able to make out his features due to how dark the room was. ''Bad dream,'' she said, wrapping her arms around his waist and putting her face in the crook of his neck. ''Can you stay with me? Please?''

Minho nodded. ''Yeah, of course. Move over.'' Y/n quickly scooted closer to the wall and opened the blanket so Minho can slip in. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

''Minho?'' Y/n whispered.

''Yeah?''

''We're still gonna see the ocean together, right?''

''Of course. Seeing how things are going, it's going to be soon,'' Minho said as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. ''I can't wait.''

Soon enough, Minho was asleep again. Y/n looked over his features, putting her hand on his cheek and stroking it. ''My past self must've been crazy,'' she whispered to herself before letting her arm wrap around Minho and closing her eyes. ''But I would've done the same.''
