"One peanut butter and jelly," Mo announced, sliding the sandwich to Lilliana. "And two ham and cheese."

It was a beautiful day. The sun was strong for being so early. She loved that their house was so close to the park. The kids loved the playground and all the space just to be free.

"Auntie Mo?" Morgan asked, swinging his feet. He was adorable.

"Yeah?" she asked, resting her head on ger hands with a yawn.

"Can we get ice cream tonight?"

"Yes," Lilliana cheered. "With sprinkles, lots and lots."

Mo chuckled, "Will you guys clean up all of your toys in the basement?"

"And make my bed," Dray added. "Please, Mo?"

She ultimately agreed.

"Mrs. Purple wants some too," Lilliana said, flinging her favorite doll through the air like it was an airplane. She couldn't quite say purple, but the effort was endearing.

"Of course," Mo said gathered up their trash.

"I want to go down the swirly side," Dray said, standing up.

"Me too! Me too," Morgan copied.

She took Lilly's hand and walked over to the playground. The kids immediately took off and she found a nice shady bench to watch them on.

"This looks fantastic, Kane. It was exactly what we had pictured."

Kane wiped the sweat off his brow with the end of his t-shirt.

"Thanks for helping me get it over here," he retaliated. "I'm glad we got it out of the way. It's going to be hot."

"You got that right," the park manager said. "I'll be in touch with more projects." He shook his hand before walking away.

Kane sighed and took a seat at a picnic table that overlooked the water, enjoying the brief cool breeze that dried his sweat.

Something pink in the dirt caught his eye. He bent to reach for it, realizing it was a doll. A very loved and warn one at that. Someone was definitely missing this.

He looked around. The park was pretty quiet, except for one family on the playground. He only saw boys, but figured he would try anyway.

"Excuse me, miss," he called once he walked closer. She looked up and he was stunned for a second. She was beautiful, and young, with long brown hair and brown eyes

He looked over at the kids, finally seeing a little girl on the swingset that had been out of his view. "I found this. I was wondering-"

"Mrs. Purple!" the little girl screamed, barreling right towards him. He was almost certain that she was going to run straight into him.

"You left Mrs. Purple all by herself. What do you say?"

"I'm sorry, Mrs Purple," she said, accepting the doll with a cute thank you before skipping off.

"Thank you," the girl gave a slight smile that he returned. "You really saved me. There would've been a lot of trouble if we went home without that doll."

"I'm happy to save the day," he said. "I'm Kane Jackson."

He held out his hand and she clasped hers with his for just a brief moment. "Mo."

He could tell she was apprehensive about him, but for some reason he didn't want to go. He struggled for a second to find some conversation.

"I own a woodworking shop off of main street. I built a bench for this park."

"Oh," she said, scooting over and offering him a seat next to her. "We're still kind of new to this area."

"You should definitely check out main street. They have a big Fourth of July parade coming up."

"You don't happen to know anything about dining room tables, do you?" Mo asked

"It's one of my specialties," he said a bit exaggeratedly. He just wanted to see her smile and he was almost successful. " What's up? Do you need one?"

"I have a really good one, but one of the legs cracked during our move. When I tried to bare any weight on it, it just got worse. Do you think I could just replace the leg?"

"Absolutely. Most companies have replacement parts you can buy."

"I think it's an antique," she answered. He was absolutely memorized, and he didn't know what to do about it.

"I can probably make one and fix it up for you. I would just need to take a look at the table."

She nodded, "Maybe I could send you some pictures?"

"Sure," he said. He gave her his phone number and he took that as his cue to not bother her anymore.

"I will let you know what I can do. It was nice to meet you," he said.

She met his eyes, "You, too."

He walked away feeling really rejuvenated. There was something about her that captured his whole attention. He didn't see a ring, but that didn't mean much. She might have kids. He shook his head. He'd take it one step at a time.

Mo was a bit awestruck by the handsome guy who seemed like he had just willingly talked to her. He was tall and blonde, fit with blue eyes. He seemed a bit country with a subtle accent.  She didn't know what had just happened, but that moment changed her life forever.
