(In which Peter goes on a first date. Set after Homecoming; MJ is still only suspecting Peter's identity.)

Peter's POV

"Hey, Parker." MJ nudged me during lab.

"Yeah?" I was only half listening, concentrated on my assignment.

"Go to dinner and a movie with me this Saturday at 7."

"Huh? Sure. Is Ned coming?" I poured the opposite chemical into the test tube, adjusting my giant goggles.

"No, dumbass. I'm asking you on a date."

"Cool." I continued mixing the substance in the tube. I dropped the object in realization, and it clattered loudly on the table. "Wait, wHAT--"

Third person POV

Tony Stark was working on his newest project when the phone rang. He ignored it for the first few calls, but once the fourth one sounded he rolled his eyes and said, "FRIDAY, answer it please."

"Of course." A small beep came from the phone he put to his ear.

"MR. STARK!" Peter shouted frantically into his phone, currently hiding in the empty boy's restroom.

Tony jolted in surprise. "Geez, kid, what's so important that you'd give an old man a heart attack?"

"Mr. Stark, ohmygod, I'm dying--"

The billionaire's brows furrowed in concern. "Whoa, whoa, slow down. Are you injured? Where are you?"

"No, no, I'm not injured."

"Then why are you calling?" That came out harsher than Tony intended. He cringed when Peter hesitated, probably losing confidence.

"U-Uhm, sorry. I can totally call back later--"

"Just tell me what you need."

"O-okay, uhm... I got a date."

Tony's frown turned to an endearing smirk. "Aahhh, who's the lucky girl?"

"Well, I'm bi, so it could totally be a dude, but anyway- it's MJ."

He tried to recollect how MJ looked. Tall, slouched mostly, bookworm, intelligent... seemed like she's Peter's type.

"Are you calling me for help, kid?" Tony's smile grew.

"Uhh, I- actually, erm, ya see.." Peter heaved a sigh. "Yes, I did, sorry for botheringyouI'llcallbacklater--"

"Peter, listen, it's fine."

"Wha?"

"I said it's fine. I'll help. Have you decided the time and place?"

"Y-Yeah, Saturday at 7 pm."

"Got a movie picked out?"

Peter chuckled softly. "Mary Poppins Returns. She said that Mary is an icon."

"Then you're fine. If it's a casual date, like you say, show up on time, be polite, act gentlemanly, and make her happy. Maybe put an arm around her while you're at it." A notification from the government popped up on Tony's screen; he ignored it. "Got that, kid?"

"Yeah.. thanks, Mr. Stark."

"Go get 'em, Underoos." Tony hung up, his mood now above the clouds. Although he did worry over Parker a bit more than he should, seeing as the kid had worse luck than a Stark.

No one said Tony couldn't keep an eye on him, just in case.

Peter's POV

A sheen of sweat covered my forehead as I knocked on her door. Wearing a simple, blue, plaid button-down shirt with black skinny jeans, I wasn't sure if it would compare to MJ's effortless beauty. Something told me nothing ever could.

MJ swung the door open abruptly. "Two minutes early."

I blinked. "Er, is that a good thing or--"

"'Course it is. For Decathlon." Her unwavering glare caught me off-guard.

Then she smirked. "You should see the look on your face."

I exhaled in relief. "Dude, not cool."

"C'mon, my stomach is yelling at me."

I felt a constant presence as MJ and I chatted in Waffle House. (The place was her suggestion, not mine.) It didn't help my already awkward demeanor, but MJ seemed to understand my discomfort and ignored it.

However, when I noticed a middle-aged man with a signature goatee, baseball cap, and sunglasses watching our exchange from another table, my uneasiness immediately vanished and was replaced with a mix of annoyance and affection. I wondered if it was a coincidence, but ruled that out because why the hell would Tony Stark randomly go to Waffle House?

A smile danced on my lips as I continued making casual small talk.

"So, why did you ask me out?" I inquired.

"No reason..." MJ glanced down at her Diet Coke.

I raised an eyebrow in feign shock. "What's this? A shy MJ?"

"Shy my ass," she grumbled. "I just... I've liked you for a while. So." She crossed her thin arms across her chest.

I felt a blush creeping to my cheeks at her confession. "Oh, that's... uhm, yeah, I figured you did, but I-I wasn't really sure, so.. th-thanks?" I stuttered.

She hesitantly met my eyes. "Do you feel the same way?"

I bit my lip and nodded. "Pretty much. I-I think you're awesome."

Her shoulders seemed to sag with relief. "That's only 'cause you're a dork."

"Hey, at least I own it."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"N-Nothing."

"Peter I swear to God--"

"Heyy, I think the movie is starting soon. Let's go."

After the movie, I drove my girlfriend home. We kept up our banter even as I pulled into her driveway.

I opened the door for her, she climbed out. She unlocked her door, and paused. Turning, she looked into my eyes with a resolve I'd ever seen her have.

"Hey, is something wrong--" I began.

Then she kissed me.

After a few moments of pure bliss, MJ pulled away, sighing. She smirked. "I think I could get used to that, Parker."

I grinned. "Me too, Jones."

She closed the door behind her.

I stood there another few seconds, drinking in the feeling of happiness, storing it in my mind forever. I drove home, yelling out lyrics to Panic! at the Disco, ignoring the strange looks I got from people in other cars.

Third person POV

"How'd it go?" Tony asked at the first ring.

Peter chuckled. "I think you'd know, Mr. Stark."

"Whaddya mean by that?" The sly philanthropist mimicked innocence.

"Well, you saw it, didn't you?"

"Kid--"

"I literally saw you at Waffle House, and the back of the theater. Why did you follow me?" Peter's tone shifted from amused to aggravated.

"Well, uhm..." For once, Tony Stark was at a loss for words.

"Hello?" Peter piped up when his question went unanswered.

"Because, kid, I--" The awkward billionaire cleared his throat, "Wanted to make sure that...you didn't get hurt."

"What? How would I get hurt on a date?"

"Your Parker Luck of course."

Peter sighed heavily. "Look, I appreciate that you care, Mr. Stark. It's just a bit...much. You get that, right?"

"Yeah. You're right, kid." Tony suddenly felt embarrassed.

"Alright, I gotta go." Peter started to end the call.

"Wait, one more thing."

"Hm?"

"Did you use protection--" he heard a small click "Aaand he hung up."

Peter's POV

After I hung up, I dropped my phone on my bed. Tony Stark, the man I've idolized since I was eight, just followed me on my first date to make sure I was okay.

I couldn't help but laugh.

I'm thinking of doing other ships later like Spideypool (nothing mature or illegal) or NedxPeter (whatever that ship name is, Neter? Ped?) What do u guys think? Which do u prefer?
