Thirdly, BIG shout out to YOLOwriting101 for helping me get through a tough spot, because life is a bitch. Go and follow them if you haven't already, please! Anyways, to the story!

This chapter has been edited!!

Max's POV-

To say I was nervous, would be a complete fucking understatement. I was going on a date, or shopping spree, whatever you want to call it. And it was with THIS handsome man right beside me! Again, I was freaking the hell out! This was my first date EVER! So, I don't want to fuck this up. Another reason why I'm internally freaking out. What if I say the wrong thing? What if I fall and embarrass myself? Because believe it or not, I am extremely clumsy.

It's as if Lucas is a psychic or something, because while these thoughts were running through my brain, he slowly intertwined his hand with my hand that was resting on my lap. The sparks started shooting up my body, but it had a calming effect on me.

"What's on your mind?" Lucas asked, soothingly. "Might be best to let it out." Damn him, being right. I took a breath and answered him truthfully.

"I'm nervous", I state, bluntly. "I'm nervous because this is my first date. I'm nervous about screwing it up." He chuckled.

"Then don't view this as a date", Lucas said. "It doesn't have be one if you don't want it to be. Just think about it as a shopping spree to get everything you need. We can take this slow, its not a problem." I smiled with gratitude and squeezed his hand. I'm grateful he's taking it slow with me. I know that his wolf must be driving Lucas insane, wanting to mate with me right away. But I'm nowhere near ready for that. I've literally just met the man for Goddess's sake!

"Thank you", I whispered. He squeezed my hand back, and grinned.

"You're welcome, Max", Lucas whispered back. He continued to hold my hand the rest of the drive to Denver, sparks coursing through my body, but they were calming. He let go once the city lights came into view. I pouted from the loss of sparks, missing them and his touch greatly. Without the sparks to keep me calm, my nerves and anxiety kicked back in. "It will be alright. Everything is fine," I thought to myself. "It's not even a real date. You'll be ok." Taking multiple deep breaths, I got my nerves under control a little. I've never been to a city before. I've never even left the borders of my clan until a few days ago when I was banished. We had modern technology at the clan, but not very much. The reason behind this was that so much magical energy was in the air, and that would make the circuits or whatever makes the electronics work malfunction and have a mini explosion. Sure, we had electricity, but even then, it was from generators that were enchanted to never run out of power. Basically, if you live in a mage clan, magic is used for almost everything. And since they are usually pretty small, all of the city lights, cars, noise, and the amount of people were all brand new to me. Fuck it. I reached into my pocket and took out the small gold coin, along with my amulet and put it on, while clutching the coin in my hands.

"Lectos, Espiritox", I muttered. A faint gold glow emitted from the coin, fading into my hands. A warm rush of energy flew through my body as my magic returned.

"I thought you had gotten rid of your magic", Lucas said, puzzled.

"I did, I was just calling it back", I confirmed. "It's for the best probably. I've never been to a city or been around so many people before."

"Smart move", Lucas agreed. "It's unlikely, but anything could happen."

"I feel whole again too", I said." It feels like I got a piece of myself back."

"I didn't want to tell you this back at the pack house", Lucas said. I looked at him in confusion. "I didn't like that you gave up your magic, even if it wasn't permanent. Neither did my wolf. Me and him felt like that you were giving away a part of yourself. I don't have magic, and it's not my place to tell you what to do with yours. But I wanted to tell you about my view on this." He said this all while looking at the road, but there was undeniable truth to his words. I couldn't stop the smile that formed across my lips. He cares about me enough already that he cares if I give up my magic or not? I slowly reached over and took one his hands off of the steering wheel. The sparks went flying, but I kept his hand in my own, placing small kisses on his knuckles. This makes him relax instantly. I didn't even realize that Lucas was tense. Must have been nerve wracking to speak about. I didn't blame him at all.

"Thank you for worrying about me", I told him. "And you're right. I shouldn't give up my powers like that. Sure, it's not permanent, but it's still not a good thing to do." All while I was saying this, I was kissing his knuckles. He looked a bit relieved to hear my words but didn't say anything for a few minutes. Instead, he pulled into a huge parking lot that was packed with cars. I looked out the window to see we were in the parking lot of a huge mall. Lucas pulled into a parking spot, miraculously one super close to the building. With all of the damn cars, I didn't think he would have been able to find a spot this close to the entrance.

My thoughts were soon interrupted when Lucas was at my door, opening it for me. I blushed madly at this, earning a pleased grin from Lucas. He leaned to my ear.

"I like it when you blush", he whispered. Blushing a deeper shade of red, I playfully, and gently pushed him back. He pouted, and I snickered.

"Come on Lucas!" I exclaimed. "That's enough pouting." I took his hand and gave it small kisses. He looked at me, a big grin on his face.

"As you wish, my handsome mate", Lucas said, acting like a serious gentleman, but really being a dork. I laughed at his actions, as he took my hand and led me into the giant mall. Let me tell you, it was bigger on the inside than it looked on the outside.

There were two floors, each one lined with small stores. We were on the main floor, where the entrance opened up to a huge courtyard, with a see-through elevator in the center, with a waterfall like structure connected to it. The pool the waterfall landed in was also a wishing well.

There were also two escalators off to the side if you didn't want to use the elevator. Two long and very wide hallways split off of the courtyard, where all of the shops were. People were everywhere, walking back and forth along the shops. I clutched Lucas's arm, my nerves getting the best of me. I might have very powerful magic, but that doesn't mean I don't have anxiety. Lucas held me close as we made our way around the giant mall. The sparks that flew through my body from being in contact with him calmed me a lot, more than Lucas could possibly realize.

Lucas never left my side while we were shopping. He always had my hand in his, or he stood so close that our arms brushed together. We both ignored the looks that we got as we made our way the giant mall. It's so stupid that some people would take time out of their day just to look at homosexual couple with disdain. We were at a small Bath and Body Works shop currently, and thinking those last few words had me bright red. A couple? Is that what Lucas and I were? I was glad Lucas had his back turned to me while he smelled a candle. It would have been too embarrassing to have him see me flustered like this out in public. I felt arms lightly wrap around my shoulders from behind me, the sparks flying. I hummed with content as I leaned into Lucas, his face now buried into my neck.

"Ready to check out?" he asked, his nose still in the crook of my neck, as he inhaled my scent. I hummed a "yes" as he took one more breath before taking my hand and picking up the shopping bag, that was full of different soaps, shampoos, and body washes, as he led the way to the checkout counter. Damn, I am officially smitten for this werewolf.

Time Skip: 1 hour later-

We had now finished buying everything I needed, from clothes to toiletries, so now we were going to this giant candy store that Lucas was going nuts over. "Pipers" as this place was called, was apparently one of the few places in Denver that still made some of their product from scratch. So needless to say, I was excited, but Lucas had the edge. He was practically bouncing in his seat, despite the fact that he was the one driving. I loved his energy though; it made him look super adorable.

A few minutes later, we pulled up to a brick building, with a white sign with big red words spelling "Pipers- Meats, Groceries, Candy". Two giant windows were placed on each side of the entrance for people walking on the sidewalk to be able to look inside to see what was going on. Lucas parked his truck in a parking space right in front of the store, and quickly got out to open my door for me. I looked away as I blushed again. He gently but firmly grabbed my chin with his thumb and pointing finger, turning my head to face him.

AN: Pipers is an actual candy store from the town where i live! I thought I'd rope it into the story! And it does actually sell homemade candy! Its honestly the best I've ever eaten! I'm not sure if the store is owned by a Piper or not, but in the past it could have been.

"Don't hide your beautiful face from me", Lucas said, his voice husky. I gulped and blushed even harder.

I looked into his eyes, to find them full of lust, want, and need. I could tell Lucas was holding back his wolf from the way his eyes would keep glowing lilac purple before going back to royal blue. After a few seconds he took a deep breath and took a step back while closing his eyes, as he appeared to get himself back under control. After another deep breath, Lucas opened his eyes, now back to their normal royal blue, and took my hand and led me into the store as if nothing had happened. I was a little sad, because I thought he was going to kiss me, and I would have been ok with it. But the sparks from us holding hands cheered me up.

Lucas opened the door to the store and held it open for me, once again a small blush covered my cheeks. He grinned at this, the jackass. Once I was inside, all I could smell was chocolate. There were hints of other sweets as well, but it was mainly chocolate. When I first walked in, I saw the checkout counter, but with a small stand full of sugar candies like lollipops, jellybeans, and different brands of chocolate like Twix and Snickers. But that wasn't the best part.

I walked to the other side of the counter to see a huge case built into it, full of homemade chocolate. My mouth watered at the sight of it. There was a long line of shelves behind me, filled with other stuff, like jams, teas, and other stuff. However, the chocolate had my full attention.

"Pick whatever you want", Lucas whispered. But how? There were so many choices! Homemade chocolate covered sea-salted caramels, pieces of chocolate covered raspberry jelly, even white chocolate dipped Oreos! While I was making up my mind, an old woman came out from a back room and walked behind the counter. She appeared to be in her early 70s, with curly white hair, a little plump, with rosy cheeks. She had that grandmotherly vibe around her. She saw Lucas behind me and smiled.

"Hello Lucas!" she said, cheerfully. Lucas went behind the counter and pecked the old lady on her cheek.

"Hi Granny", Lucas greeted her. So, she's Lucas's grandmother? Finally, I can meet a member of his family! I was about to introduce myself, but she beat me to it.

"And who is this handsome young man?" she asked Lucas. "Is he a friend of yours?" He smiled at me, full of pride.

"Granny, meet Max, my mate", Lucas said, his eyes full of pride and joy. His grandmother now had a tear in her eye, and before I knew it, she had come from behind the counter and engulfed me into a bone crushing hug. I patted her back before saying-

"Can't...breath."

"Oh, sorry dearie", she said, pulling away. "I'm just so happy that Lucas finally found his mate! My name is Piper, and I own this little shop. But with my name being on the sign out there, you probably have already guessed that." So, the store is named after her? That's really nice. She gave me a warm smile, to which I return.

"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Williams", I said respectfully. She shot me an approving look.

"Just call me Piper or Granny, no need for that "Mrs." stuff", she says. "You got a good one there Lucas. You better treat him good." She gave him a stern look.

"Yes Granny", Lucas replied, but when she turned back to me, he rolled his eyes in amusement.

"Excuse me dearie, I don't mean to be rude, but are you in any way connected to magic?" Piper asked. "My wolf senses something about you." I blinked in surprise. Her wolf sensed my powers, despite me not using them? Even Lucas looked shocked.

"Yes, I'm a mage", I answered her. "I hope that doesn't frighten you." She giggled.

"Oh, Goddess no", she confirms. "I've met people with magic while I was still Luna, and they were always lovely. I can already tell that you're one of them." I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in. Lucas became less tense as well.

"Now, on the house, I'm letting you pick whatever and as many sweets as you want", Piper said. My eyes widened.

"Oh no you don't have-" she cut me off.

"Nonsense. You're my grandson's mate. It makes you automatically family", Piper said. "Now pick your sweets."

I smiled at her kind offer, thanked her again, and peered into the glass case containing the sweets. Since there were so many choices, it took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted, but eventually I made up my mind.

"I will take six of the chocolate covered sea-salted caramels, 6 of the dipped Oreos, and 8 of those chocolate covered raspberry jelly things please." Piper smiled, and put together my order, putting everything into their own separate little white bag.

"Your turn Lucas", Piper said. Lucas grinned and pointed to things in the case.

"I'll have 5 of your famous turtles, 6 of your homemade chocolate peanut butter cups, and a giant piece of your chocolate covered honeycomb." She smiled and packaged up his order as well and handed us the bags.

"Thanks Granny!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Thank you, Piper!" I said, excitement laced in my voice. She smiled warmly.

"It was my pleasure boys", she said, cheerfully. "Enjoy the sweets!"

"See you around Granny!" Lucas said. "Love you!" Piper chuckled.

"Love you too Lucas", she replied. "It was nice meeting you Max! Let me know if you need any Luna advice!"

"Thanks Piper! It was nice meeting you too!" I exclaimed. She waved goodbye to us as we made our way to Lucas's truck. We put our candy in the back seat, but before I could reach for my door, Lucas was already holding it open for me. I blushed for the millionth time that day, muttered a thank you, and got into his truck. He closed the door once I got in and he quickly got in the truck too, then sped off. There was a silence, but it was nice. After a few minutes, Lucas broke it.

"I know this really nice park that's close by", Lucas said. "It's quiet, and we could go there if you wanted."

"Sure. That sounds nice", I responded. I'm glad he chose a place like that to go to. I wanted to tell him what happened to my mother. I was ready to tell him, and that peace and quiet would help me keep calm. Lucas made a right turn and after a few minutes, he pulled up to a nice big park.

I got out of the car and took in my surroundings. It was a beautiful park, with blue-green grass, pretty oak and hickory trees, and benches and tables made from wood dotted here and there. There was a small sparkling blue pond in the center of the park, with a couple of ducks swimming in it. It was an overall peaceful place, and I loved it. Nobody else was here either, so we had the place to ourselves. I decided to get the sweets, but Lucas already was a step ahead of me, because when I turned around, he had already grabbed all six of the bags of candy. I smiled at him, leading him to a bench right beside the pond. I sat down and he sat right beside me, putting the bags of sweets between us. I took a dipped Oreo from one of my bags and he took out his bug piece of honeycomb, and we ate in silence. It was easily the best candy I've ever eaten in my life, but my mind was on other things. After I finished the Oreo, I worked up my courage, and broke the silence.

"Regina", I whispered. Lucas looked at me, locking his eyes with mine.

"What?" he asked. I took a deep breath.

"My mother's name, was Regina", I answered.

To be continued...

AN: I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! Again, thank you YOLOwriting101 for helping me pull through that sadness. I'm still a little upset about it, and I will be for a while, but it will get better. They motivated me to use writing as an outlet, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
