Lucas's POV-

Shade and I both hated seeing our mate in pain. So when Max started to tear up, it was only instinct for me to wrap my arms around him, and just hold him close. While he let his emotions out, I wondered what Max thought of that made him start crying so suddenly. I had a good guess, given that the circumstances were the same as last night. Max was most likely thinking about how his mother died. I hope he tells me what happened soon. I want to help him, I want to support him in any way, shape, or form I can. It's my job as his mate to be there for him, and also because I'm already in love with him.

Yes, I said it. I'm in love with Max. I fell in love with him the moment I laid my eyes on him. That sounded cheesy as fuck, but it's the truth. I'd never stop loving Max, not even after death. So seeing him cry shattered my heart. Shade howled in anguish. He only wants Max to be happy, and I couldn't agree more. And right now he needs a distraction, and I have just the perfect idea.

"Want to go shopping with me later?" I whispered. "You probably need clothes, and we could get you any essentials you might need. There's also a giant candy store that has the best homemade chocolate on this planet." Max looked up at me, his eyes still a little red from crying, but he had a small grin on his adorable face.

"Are you asking me out already?" he asked, like a drama queen. I chuckled. He's so cute.

"Why yes I am!" I said, just as dramatic. "How else would we get to know each other better?" Max smiled, my wolf purring with satisfaction of seeing him smile.

"Fair point, but you don't have to spend your money on me" he said. He looked down. "I wouldn't want to be a burden anyways." I gently took his chin and raised his head to so his eyes met mine.

"Don't talk like that, you would never be a burden", I answered sternly, but gently.

"Are you sure?" Max asked, worry underlining his voice.

"I'm positive." I replied. "And besides, I want to spend my money on you, and even though we just met, I want to spoil you."

"I don't know...", he trailed off. I put my best pout face on and looked him right in the eye.

"Please Max!" I whined. "Please!" He snickered and rolled his eyes.

"Alright, you big baby", he teased.

"YYYYAAAAAYYYYY!" I screamed, with joy. Max rolled his eyes and laughed at my childish behavior. He's seen nothing yet.

"So what time are we leaving?" Max asked.

"Not until later this after noon, I have Alpha stuff to do", I answered. "I'll come get you when I'm finished." He nodded.

"I'll be in my room", Max said. "I want to practice my alchemy. I think I have an idea, but don't ask what it is! I'm not sure if it will work or not! I want it to be a surprise in case it does work!"

"AWWWW!" I whined. "Please tell me!"

"Nope", he said, popping the "p".

"Please!" I whined again. He rolled his eyes.

"No!" he said, more sternly. I pouted.

"Just one clue!" I begged. He sighed in defeat.

"Fine, let's just say it will benefit the whole pack", Max said. "Now go do your Alpha work, I need to start right away!" He turned on his heel and went back to the spare room. I wondered what kind of potion he's making. He's a mage, so it could be anything. Drawing no conclusions, I walked back to my room, threw on a white T-shirt, and went to my office to start on more, boring paperwork. Although I couldn't stop thinking of Max while I worked. He never left my thoughts.

Max's POV-

Just so you're aware, the potion I'm planning on making will not kill anyone. It will in fact, do the complete opposite. I'm planning on making a special healing elixir, that only werewolves can use, to fully rid there body's of wolfsbane or silver instantly if they get wounded by either one. I had heard of similar medications that werewolves made, but they are not as strong as this, because mine will be magically infused. Last night, I let go of my hatred for werewolves. It wasn't worth it anymore, and besides I didn't want Lucas to think I resented him for something he didn't do. So I decided to do something for the entire pack. Hence, why I'm making this potion.

Mom would be proud of me. She would have been proud to see me get over my hatred over werewolves just because one rouge werewolf had killed her. If she was alive she would have set me straight in 2 seconds flat. Another reason why I missed her. She tolerated no bull-shit, and she always was looking out for me, making sure I didn't do anything or think anything stupid.

As I was thinking about this, I decided to sneak out of my room to find the pack's hospital. It took maybe 15 minutes for me to find it, being that it was a separate building to the pack house. It was the size of a normal clinic, just that it was equipped like an actual hospital. I snuck in through the front entrance, walking right through the door. All while I did this, I was using my powers to become invisible, untouchable, and unscented. I wanted this to be a surprise, so why spoil it? Also, I didn't want to deal with the other pack members giving me shit or think that I'm snooping around. I made it to the lab and looked around, in all the different cabinets, and found nothing. If your wondering why I'm here is that I want to make sure no one had ever made something like what I was planning on making, that way I wouldn't be accused of stealing an idea or making a fool out of myself.

Since I found nothing, I teleported to my room in a puff of white smoke. I became visible and touchable again, as well as regaining my scent. Time to get to work. I took my staff and waved it, conjuring a huge potion station out of thin air. I waved my hand, also making tools and herbs appear on the table. I took the small bit of herbs from my duffel and set them on the potion station as well. I grabbed wolfsbane, elfroot, spindleweed, and a tiny bag of powdered sliver. Elfroot and spindleweed are healing herbs, so they will be the healing properties, while I will take the poison and danger out of the silver and wolfsbane, and use it as a symbol of what the potion will be used for when I mix them in. Time to get to work.

Timeskip to 3:00 pm:

Lucas's POV-

"Finally done with this stupid paperwork", I groaned, setting the last paper aside. "Now I can go see Max and take him out on our date!" But first I better dress properly. It might be summer in Colorado, but thanks to our snow covered mountains, it still get pretty chilly in the evening. Putting on a pair of jeans and just leaving the shirt I already have on, I went to Max's room. I reached for the door handle, only to have my hand be blasted back. What the fuck? I tried again, but the same thing happened.

"Shit, hang on!" I heard Max shout from the other side. "Try it now!" I reached for the door handle again, this time I could actually open it. I walked into the room to see Max standing over a potion station. How the hell did he get one up here? It's huge and it looks extremely heavy. I watched as he ground some kind of plant into a paste or something, then adding it to a small vial full of water and swished it together.

"What's up?" Max asked, not looking away from the vial.

"First, how did you get that huge ass potion station up here?" I asked him. He chuckled.

"Amazon", he replied simply. I laughed.

"Seriously though, where did you get that?" I asked again. Max chuckled again.

"I'm a mage Lucas" he said. "I conjured it from thin air, along with the tools and supplies." He says this in a "duh" tone. Well, I felt dumb.

"Second, what up with the door?" I asked. Max snickered.

"It's a protection spell", he explained. "To keep any people or pups from coming in here and messing with my stuff." Ok, that also makes perfect sense and again it makes me feel stupid. But I just nodded my head in understanding.

"Well anyways, I came to tell you that I'm done with my Alpha work", I said. "Ready to go?" Max smiled and set the vial down, carefully so he wouldn't spill its contents.

"Thought you would never ask!" he exclaimed. "Let me change first, I spilt some ingredients on my shirt." White smoke engulfed him, and when it cleared he had on a sky-blue shirt and a pair of jeans, replacing his gym shorts and his white T-shirt, now stained due to him spilling stuff on it. Am I jealous that he can do that? Yeah a little, but also intrigued.

"Ready when you are", Max said. I grinned and lead him out of his room and down the many flights of stairs. Before we reached the door, I mind linked Sam an told him to take care of things while I was gone. He replied with a simple "Yep" and closed the link.

"Oh, hold on!" Max said, out of nowhere. He then took a small gold coin and squeezed it in his palms, while muttering "Oribos, Turai, Filio". As he said the spell, his hands glowed, then it faded after a few seconds. It kind of looked like the coin was absorbing the magic. He slipped the coin into his pocket and I gave him a puzzled look.

"What was that spell for?" I asked. He winced.

"Its a spell that allows me to willingly relinquish my magic into an object", Max explained. "I can easily call it back, so don't freak out. I just don't want to risk humans finding out I have magic and knowing the Supernatural world exists. Magic is tied to a spellcaster's emotions, so if I get too pissed off or scared, my magic could lash out without my control." My wolf snorted in disapproval, and I agreed with him. It might not be permanent, but Max was giving up a part of him that made him special. A part of him that made him special to all others. This also made him much more vulnerable, because his powers are his main way of defense. But it was his choice, not mine, on what he could and couldn't do with his magic.

"Are you sure you're ok with this?" I pressed. Max nodded.

"Yes, it's for the best ", he replied. "I would rather not have our world exposed." I internally sighed in defeat. I might not agree with his decision, but I'll respect it.

"Ok, enough about magic!" Max declared. "We have stuff to do!" I laughed, agreeing with him. But I will tell him how I feel about him removing his magic.

I opened and held the door open for Max as we walked outside and headed towards the giant garage. His eyes went wide when he saw my Silverado. I forgot what year it was, but it was fairly new.

Picture of Lucas's truck:

"This is yours!?" Max asked, eyes still wide. I laughed at his cuteness.

"Yep, its mine", I answered. He whispered a "wow" under his breath. I chuckled and went over to the passenger side and opened the car door for him. Max's face instantly went red and it stayed that way until I closed the door. Shade was purring with contentment, knowing that our mate loved but got flustered over the gesture.

I jumped into the driver's seat and started the engine, listening to it roar to life. We both put our seat-belts on and I slowly crept out of the garage, before speeding down our long driveway, then following a mile long trail through the forest. It was quiet the whole way through the forest, but it was comfortable. A few minutes later we came to the highway that would take us to our first "date".

To be continued...

Ok, this chapter was kind of boring and I'm sorry for that, but I'll try to have the "date" part a lot less boring. I'll put that in another week or 2. School sucks :(

Yes, I know I use a lot of blue references, especially for describing things, so I'll try to have more color variety.

Edit: I forgot to put a disclaimer for the spell "Oribos, Turai, Filio"! It is a spell from the show Legacies and it is a spell that allows someone with magic to relinquish it into an object with their own free will. This spell is first used from when Josie Saltzman gives up her Siphoning power and puts it into a coin. Since she didn't have her Siphoning power, she could siphon magic and use it. I just wanted to point out that its not of my own creation!
