Hailey's POV

I didn't get one once of sleep last night. I was constantly tossing and turning, waking up every hour or so. I was honestly nervous about Isaac wanting to meet my dad, but at the same time I was happy and excited about seeing Isaac again. I could not stop thinking about Isaac since Friday night, since our kiss out in my drive way. I'll admit I was a little bothered when Isaac didn't text me later that night like he said he would have, but I tried not to let it get the best of me. Good thing too. Isaac did end up calling me the next morning and apologized, apparently he had got drunk and misplaced his phone.

Aside from the sleepless night that i had, I ended up waking up an hour before my alarm went off. I decided that it was pointless to try and get some sleep and actually decided to stay awake. A couple minutes after just laying in bed I finally decided to get up and shower. I decided to only take a body shower, seeing how I had just washed my hair yesterday morning. After my quick shower I got dressed and decided that i would attempt to make my hair look decent today. My hair was naturally a weird straight on top and crazy puffy mess at the bottom. I pulled out my straightener and plugged it in, I thought about putting some curls in my hair but decided that straightening it would probably be easier.

I actually took my time with my hair this morning, I didn't want it to be a frizzy mess so it took me about almost 30 minutes to get it all straight. It was almost 7 in the morning by the time I was done with it, I unplugged my hot iron and walked back into my room. I noticed just how dark the circles under my eyes were and decided to put on some light concealer. I only placed some on my bags though, I left my freckles alone today, I decided that I would leave them exposed for the world to see. They weren't too bad, they were fairly light and only on the top of my cheeks, I got them from my mother, she also had freckles on her face. Caleb looked more like my father and I like my mother, although Caleb too had my moms green eyes like I did, but he didn't have her crazy auburn hair, he had my dad's dark locks.

By the time that I was fully satisfied with my face, hair, and outfit, it was nearly 7:20. I grabbed my phone and bag, making my way down stairs. My dad was already up and of course dressed for work, he was standing near the kitchen sink making his daily morning coffee.

"Hi, dad!"

He turns to look behind him, as I grab a banana off of the table. "Hey, sweetheart. You were up pretty early today."

"Yeah," I sigh as I start to peel my fruit open. "I couldn't sleep for some strange reason."

"Hail, please." He eyes my a banana, "eat some real breakfast."

I take a bite of my fruit, while shaking my head. "I'm not that hungry."

My father rolls his eyes at me and is about to say something when his cell phone starts ringing. He pulls it out of his pocket and groans to himself when he sees whoever is calling. He answers it and brings the phone up to his ear, "Summers." He prompts his phone onto his shoulder, holding it with the side of his face as he continues to make his coffee.

I walk over behind him and grab a small glass from the dish rack on the counter, and take the gallon of milk out of the fridge. Im pouring some milk into the glass when my dad starts shouting into his phone. "No! I specifically said no, Booth! Leave that shit alone, I'll handle it when I get to the office!"

I look over at my dad while taking a drink of my milk, and he flashes me a small smile as he continues to yell at his partner. I take another bite of my banana when I hear my phone ring in my bag. I walk over to the table where my bags at taking another small drink of my milk. I set my glass down on the table and pull my phone out, I immediately smile when I see that I have message from Isaac.

"Morning beautiful I'm almost there."

I swallow the banana bits that are left in my mouth. Crap. He's early. I was hoping that Isaac would show up after my dad left to work, this way they wouldn't have to meet, but Mr. Matteo over here was already on his way. I reply back to Isaac and finish the last of my small breakfast, and place my cup into the sink.

"You ready to go, sweetheart?" My dad asks a few seconds after getting off of his phone.

"My friends actually going to give me a ride to school today, dad."

"Oh, okay." He picks up his coffee walking passed me, "Ima get going then, I have a lot to do today." He places his mug down on the table, fishing out his wallet and hands me a twenty dollar bill. "Just incase I don't make it home for dinner," he says placing a kiss on my head and heads for the door.

I grab my bag and shove the money inside when I see my dads coffee on the table still. "Dad! Wait!" I turn towards the door and see that he's already gone. I grab my bag and his coffee, quickly walking after him. I open the door and relief washes over me when I see that he hasn't left yet, he's walking up to his car when I call out to him. "Dad!" He turns to glance at me and I raise his coffee up midair, he shakes his head and starts to walk back towards me. I close the door behind me and meet him halfway.

"Thank you," he smiles taking the cup from me, and starts to walk away. "Have a good day at school, baby." He says over his shoulder.

"Thanks, dad. Be carful!"

He answers me with the same two words he always does. "Always am." But my smile immediately drops when Isaac's black BMW pull up and parks near the sidewalk.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

My dad turns to look back at me, "that's not your friends Toyota," he states out, a little bemused, pointing out the obvious. "Is that the same BMW from Friday night?"

I nod as I walk pass my dad and walk towards the expensive car. "Your guy friend?" He arches an eyebrow.

I turn around and continue to walk backwards, "please be nice, dad. He really wants to meet you."

"Me?" My dad scoffs. "Why on earth would he want to meet me?"

"Dad, please." My dad waves me off and opens his car door placing his coffee cup inside and stars his engine, letting his car warm up.

I turn back around and see Isaac stepping out of his car, and my heart instantly stammers at the sight of him. It's like the guy gets more and more beautiful with each day that passes by. He's actually not wearing as much black as I thought he would've, but he still is in dark colors. He had a grey tee shirt on with a black and grey flannel over it, with a pair of dark black jeans and some charcoal color chucks.

"Hey," Isaac beams with happiness and hugs me. "You look beautiful."

I quickly pull away from him so that my father doesn't see, "thank you." I blush. "You ready? He's not in the best mood this morning." I warn him.

Isaac chuckles softly walking along beside me, "oh no, is it because of me?"

I smile and nod, pinching my thumb and finger together. "Little bit... Dad." I say to grab his attention. He stands up to his full height turning around to face Issac and I. He was bent over half in half out of his car, fidgeting with something inside. "This is-"

"Isaac." My dad finishes my small introduction, a steely expression on his face.

"Yep," I mutter under my breath. Of course he knows him, how could he not. I glance at Isaac next to me, he's staring at my father with that same blank expression, or better yet, he's staring at his badge on his belt, at his gun in his holster, that's strap to him.

He quickly snaps out of it but his facial expression remains the same, "morning, sir." Isaac extends his hand out for my dad to take, and he merely stares at it for a second or two then grips it.

My dad unclasp's their hands and crosses his arms along his chest, looking over at me. "This is who you've been hanging around with?" He points at Isaac in front of him.

"Dad."

"No, Hail." He turns to Isaac, "what's a guy like you doing hanging around my daughter?"

"I understand where your concern is coming from, Mr. Summers, I do, but I can assure you that I have no intention of hurting your daughter. Hailey's beautiful, she's smart from what I can tell, she's kind and caring. I would like to get to know her better, take her out on a date, but I'd like to run it by you first. I wanna earn your trust just as much as her's."

"No." My dad says shortly, and flat.. "I'm suppose to just be okay with my daughter dating some.. some hooligan?" I notice that Isaac immediately grimace's at the word.  I wanna reach out and grab his hand, but I don't. "No," my dad scoffs. "The answer is no, Matteo.. Get in the car, Hailey." I don't say anything, I stay rooted to my spot staring up at my father. "Hail.. Car. Now!"

"No." I tell him.

"No?" He scoffs. "Hail-"

"The only reason why Isaac's giving me a ride to school was because he wanted to come and meet you!" I start to raise my voice. "And you're not even gonna give him a chance?"

"Baby, I know guys like him, like his father. You do not want that kind of guy in your life. You want to date that's fine, go a head and date, but not him.. Now get in this car, Hailey!"

"No!" I shout taking a step back from both of the guys. "You don't even know anything about him!"

"And you do?!" He bites back sarcastically. I can't remember the last time my dads ever raised his voice at me, the last time I've ever talked back to him.

I scowl him for a second, "I know that he's nothing like I thought he would be.. That he's not what everyone makes him out to be! I know that he was one of the only ones to come check on me when one of my attacks hit Friday night!"

My dads harsh face suddenly softens, "Hail.." he says gently.

"No! I did not make him come all this way for nothing! He was nice enough to offer me a ride and I'm going with him whether you like it or not!" I tell my dad and quickly turn to walk away. "Lets go, Isaac!"

"Hailey Katherine!" My dad shouts behind me as I reach for the passenger door and I thank God that it's not locked.

"Im sorry," I hear Isaac apologize just before I shut my door. A couple seconds later he's getting into the driver seat and starting his car up. I know that Isaac's windows are tinted but I don't dare look over at my dad when we drive pass him. The drive to school is fairly quiet, and I'm trying my hardest not to tear up in Isaac's car, in front of him. He finds a parking spot almost immediately and parks his BMW, breaking the silence.

"Well.." he drags out. "That's not how I intended things to go this morning, then again I didn't expect your dad to be a detective." He laughs softly, and I join in wiping the couple tears that are spilling from my eyes. "Hailey, please don't cry, princess."

"I'm sorry," I mutter. "I don't know why I thought he would be okay with it."

"Hey," he grabs my left hand away from my face, gently squeezing it. "I think he handled it anyway a dad would when they find out their daughter has a boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" I glance over at him arching an eyebrow, and for a second I think he might have even blushed.

"You know what I mean," he smiles. I smile in return when his hands cup my face, wiping my tears away, "come on." He gives me a quick peck. "I want you to meet my friends."

I nod and we step out of his car. Isaac grabs his backpack from the back seat and immediately reaches for my hand, as we start to walk out of the parking lot. We're a few feet away from the school entrance when I notice a group of kids hanging around the bike rack area. I know that it's Isaac's group because I recognize his friend Dion immediately. The closer we get to them I notice that Angela's hanging out with them as well, I couldn't see her at first, she was standing in between two big meaty bodies.

Her eyes grow wide in excitement the second she notices us, and is instantly running over in our direction. "Hailey!" She wraps her arms around me. "Oh my God, hi!!"

Isaac lets go of my hand and walks towards his friends, shooting me a wink before he leaves. I plead at him with my eyes not to leave me alone with his best friend, but he only chuckles mouthing the word 'breathe'.

"Um, Angela?" I murmur. "I can't breathe."

She instantly lets go of me, "oh my god, I'm so sorry! I'm just a little excited about having another girl to hang around with!" She says enthusiastically.

Isaac scoffs from behind us, "and who exactly said that she's going to be hanging around with you, Ang?"

"I did," she fires back.

Isaac rolls his eyes and waves me over, "c'mere, Hail." I walk over to him and he grabs ahold of my hand, and points at his friends with his free one. "You already know Ric and Dee."

"Hi," I smile.

Ric smiles doing a little head nod, Dion does the same and continues to chew on what I can only assume is a bag of chips.

"Dee, what the fuck are you eating?" Dion smiles and flashes his yellow bag at Isaac. "Really? It's barely eight in the morning and you're already eating pork rinds?"

"What? I got munchies." Dion grins.

"Again, let me rephrase that. It's barely eight in the morning and you're already high?" Isaac and the rest of the guys laugh along with Dion, and Isaac continues introducing his friends to me. "This here is Albert, and that's his cousin Vince, but we tend to call him Vinny."

They both do the same head nod that Patrick and Dion had done. "Hey," Vince snaps his fingers pointing them at me. "I have you for chemistry, don't I?"

"Yeah," I say quietly. "And I have Spanish with Albert."

"Oh shit, that's true!" Albert blurts out. "I was trying to remember where the fuck I recognized you from!" Turns out that I had most of Isaac's buddies in a few of my classes

We talk for a minute or two when the warning bell rings and we begin to walk towards the entrance of the school when the weirdest thing happens. Patrick and Isaac switch backpacks out of no where. I never do get the chance to ask him what that's all about because about three seconds later someone is calling his name.

"Matteo. Ricci." I look over to the right of us and see the campus officer standing at the main office doorway, waving the guys over.

Isaac lets go of my hand placing a kiss on my forehead, "why don't you walk with Ang and Ric, I'll meet up with you guys in a bit." He says.

"Why aren't you coming? Where are you going?"

"Come on, Hailey." Angela tugs on my arm, pulling me away from Isaac and Dion.

"I have to do something really quick, I'll see you in a second." He smiles, and Dion and him walk into the office.

"Where are they going?" I ask Angela as we make our way through the front gate.

She completely ignores my question, "it's fine, Hailey. They'll be out in a bit."

"That wasn't what I asked."

"They're going to go get checked. They do every morning." Patrick answers and Angela quickly turns to glare at him, smacking him in the lower stomach. "What! She's gonna find out eventually!"

"Yeah, but that's not something for us to tell her, you idiot! That's something KP should do on his own time!" Angela smacks him a second time.

I furrow my eyebrows together, "they get checked? For what??"

"See?" Angela continues to shout at Patrick, but only this time she's yelling at him in Italian so I don't understand a word she's saying. I need to learn their language fast if I'm going to be hanging out with them more often. Angela grabs my hand pulling me along with her, she stops on the other side of the office exit and points over at the big glass window. "For anything they're not suppose to have." She mumbles.

I watch through the dark glass window as Officer Denis and Principal Batam pat both boys down. Officer Denis then reaches for Isaac backpack, when in reality it's Patricks though, he starts to go through it as Principal Batam does the same thing with Dion's. A minute later they're done and both guys start walking towards the exit.

The second bell rings and Angela swats Patrick one last time, "good luck explaining that to him! I have to go to class, I'll see you later, Hailey!"

I nod and Patrick mutters a swear word under his breath. Isaac and Dion walk out of the office both zipping up their black backpacks. "Hey," he says a little puzzled. "I thought I told you that I would catch up with you guys."

"You did.. but I wanted to know what was going on." I tell him as we starts walking towards the classrooms. Isaac reaches for my hand but I quickly pull it away before he can get ahold of it. "You have to do that every morning?"

Isaac nods his head, sending hard glares towards Patrick. "Why? What are they looking for?"

"Come on, Ric. I have a pretty good feeling they don't want you around right now." Dion chuckles. "I'll see you in second, KP."

Isaac nods and Patrick takes off his backpack, handing it back to Isaac. "I'm sorry, KP."

"You had one fucking job, Ric." He grits angrily and hands him the backpack. Isaac yanks his rudely out of Patrick's hand, placing it over his shoulder. "All you had to fucking do was walk with her, Ric, and you some how manage to fuck that up."

"Isaac.." I grab onto his arm. "It wasn't his fault. I saw you guys through the window, he didn't say anything." I lied.

"Get the fück out of my face, Ric." Dion pulls Patrick along with him until it's just Isaac and I walking together. "Who do you have first period?" Isaac asks me.

"Uh, chemistry." I mutter.

"Mr. Sean?" I nod and we start to walk towards the 200 buildings. It's quiet. I glance at Isaac to the right of me and can see that he's seething still. I want to ask him if he's okay, why he's so upset, but I have a good feeling in my gut that I probably shouldn't.

Instead I intwine my right hand with his left and he quickly grips it, "I don't need to know." I say softly.

Isaac scoffs bringing my hand up to his lips, placing a kiss on the back of it. "I'm not mad because I don't want you to know, Hailey. I'm mad because he had no right to tell you my business, I would've gladly told you the minute I walked out, the second you asked. Ric knows better, and you need to stop trying to defend him."

"I'm sorry," I exhale. "You were just so mad at him, and I thought that I could-"

"You thought that you could what?" He gently talks over me, smiling.

I shake my head, "nothing." I murmur when the tardy bell rings. In all of my four years of high school I have never once been late to any one of my classes, and here I was now. We stand right outside of Mr. Sean's class when Isaac pulls me back just as I'm about to reach for the door.

"After the whole thing with Bianchi happened, the school board didn't necessarily want me back on their school grounds. My dad actually went through hell and back to try and get me back in, but of course at the end of the day no one necessarily wanted to tell my father no." Isaac explains. "There were a bunch of terms and conditions that I had to follow to come back, that I still have to follow. Getting searched every morning before school being one of them."

"But what about, Dion? Why does he need to get searched?"

"Dee's my best friend, I guess they automatically assume that if i do bring something into the school, he's the one that's gonna be holding it for me."

"But Patrick does instead." I mutter softly.
